      BREAKING NEWS

      July 18, 2007

BOSTON, MA - Boston skipper Terry Francona has mysteriously scratched Wily Mo Pena from the lineup for tonight's series finale vs. Kansas City. On days when Pena is simply resting, he is always available to pinch hit. This time however, Pena is not at the ballpark.

          Pitching picks up the slack
Sox can only muster one run, but it's enough; what's the deal with Wily Mo?

            Domino Effect in Boston
Epstein announces a trade that will lead to another

            July 19, 2007

BOSTON, MA - As the trade deadline gets closer, the Boston Red Sox get busier.

After Wily Mo Pena's last second scratch from the game yesterday, fans and media in Boston were buzzing for information. That information was released today, as GM Theo Epstein announced that the Red Sox had traded the high power/high strikeout/mediocre fielder to the Oakland Athletics for disgruntled third baseman Eric Chavez.

At first, fans and media were confused. Mike Lowell is still struggling, but it seemed like he and Chavez are about equal in terms of talent. Chavez's stats are slightly better than Lowell's, and his fielding is a step above; Chavez has won 6 consecutive Gold Gloves in the AL at 3rd base.

Oakland is awful this year however, and Billy Beane, ever the financial wizard, decided to deal Chavez and his contract for the younger, less expensive Pena.

This of course creates a logjam at 3rd base for the Red Sox, and effectively spells the end of Lowell's tenure in Boston. With Pena gone, it seems like he will be dealt for an outfielder.

I absolutely hate the Red Sox...but I LOVE this dynasty. Wily Mo goes for Chavez, man, what a nice trade from your end.

MLB Question: Who has filled in at 3B over in Oakland, and Wily Mo be a starter?

              Great readings!

Yeah, I checked into that...the A's are now using Scutaro over at 3rd, with Crosby at short.

And Wily Mo's a starter for them, Kotsay and Kielty are down with injury.

                Thanks for the compliments.
