          Week 2 Preview
TCU tries to measure up; VaTech heads south

          #20 TCU (1-0) @ #5 Texas (1-0)

TCU has visions of being this year's Boise State; they definitely have the talent to make a push at the BCS. To do so though, they must run the table, and that includes winning in Austin against the 5th-ranked Longhorns. DE Tommy Blake leads a formidable Horned Frogs' defense, but they'll need some luck to overpower QB Colt McCoy and Texas.

          Game of the Week

          #9 Virginia Tech (1-0) @ #3 LSU (1-0)

This year, the early season non-conference game of the year takes place down in the Bayou, where #3 LSU hosts #9 Virginia Tech in primetime. Branden Ore will try to find a way around LSU's massive defensive tackle, Glenn Dorsey. Overall, these are two of the most physical defenses in the country, but can VaTech overcome the rowdiness that comes with a night game at Tiger Stadium?

              South Carolina @ Georgia

              September 8, 2007

Doggone it: Georgia rallies late to stymie Gamecocks

ATHENS, GA - To contend in the SEC, South Carolina is going to have to start winning these kind of games.

With the offense becoming allergic to the endzone, the Gamecocks' defense put the team on their back and carried them as far as they could.

But then Georgia WR A.J. Bryant pulled away on a slant pattern and sprinted for a 61 yard touchdown with 1:09 left, and Georgia edged South Carolina for the 6th straight year, 13-12.

Carolina put together a rally late, as Blake Mitchell hooked up with Chris Culliver and Kenny McKinley on back to back plays to get the Gamecocks to midfield, but on the next play Mitchell found Moe Brown over the middle, who was then stripped of the football in the driving rain in Athens. Georgia recovered and killed the clock.

Mitchell didn't turn the ball over and was an impressive 25-35; however, he accumulated only 184 yards, because many of his completions came on small hitch patterns and screens that did not gain much yardage. There is speculation that Steve Spurrier simply doesn't trust Mitchell to make the necessary throws.

"The offense is still stuck in neutral, obviously...we gotta find somethin' different, cuz I love our kicker, really, I do...but I'm already tired of havin' to send him out to get us three," Spurrier said after the game. Kicker Ryan Succop made all four of his field goal tries.

Carolina has a chance to regroup next week back home against I-AA South Carolina State. And regroup they must, because the week after that they travel to the Bayou to take on powerhouse LSU.

Tough loss. SEC is tough, but one loss won't cost you the season.

Not the same as that high powered USC offense you were using last year eh?

                    EDIT: Damn, Michigan smoked Oregon.

                      Week 3 Preview
Bama and Nebraska look to begin the road to restoration

                      #9 Arkansas (1-0) @ Alabama (2-0)

Darren McFadden started '07 with a bang, rushing for 200+ yards and 3 TDs against Troy. The competition steps up considerably, as Nick Saban's Alabama Crimson Tide welcome the Hogs to Tuscaloosa. Saban has preached all along that the Tide won't be restored in a day, but if Bama can knock off Arkansas, that restoration will be in fast forward mode.

                      Game of the Week

                      #1 Southern California (1-0) @ #13 Nebraska (2-0)

The top-ranked Trojans will meet a familiar face this week when they travel to Lincoln to face the hungry Huskers of Nebraska. Sam Keller is at the helm of the Nebraska offense, and he saw the Trojans a couple years ago when he was the quarterback of Arizona State. He didn't have much success against USC then, and for Nebraska to take the leap back toward relevency, he'll have to come up big in front of Big Red's biggest home crowd in years.

                        Awesome read so far.

However, it makes me not want to even bother doing a dynasty thread cause it won't top this one. I simple don't have the energy to do all this, as much as I'd want to. I get too antsy and want to play the games.

Exactly why I stopped mine. I just want to play...not post all this stuff.

You should still do one. I know I won't do all this that Psyblast is doing, but I still like sharing my dynasty.

By the way, this is an awesome dynasty!

Gamecocks blow away SCSU in a glorified scrimmage

COLUMBIA, SC - Steve Spurrier has a reputation for running the score up on his opponents when they're overmatched.

This one actually could've been a lot worse.

The Gamecocks rolled up 508 yards of offense - 376 on the ground - and beat I-AA South Carolina State 52-20, in a game that was never in doubt.

Blake Mitchell looked better - he threw his first two touchdowns of the year - but he was still intercepted twice, and Spurrier voiced his concerns.

"Ya know, gettin' picked off twice when you're obviously better than the other guys...that has me concerned a bit, we gotta work on that for LSU next week."

Mike Davis and Cory Boyd both easily surpassed 100 yards rushing. Kenny McKinley caught 5 passes for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns, and added 62 yards rushing. Chris Culliver found the endzone for the first time on a sweep play from the slot.

SCSU rolled up some offense in the fourth quarter, but South Carolina had already put in the second stringers, resting up their starters for next week's big game against LSU down in the Bayou.
