Gamecocks leave no doubt vs. Clemson
Big plays, big turnovers lead Carolina to first 10-win season since 1984

COLUMBIA, SC - In a year full of great success, this was the cherry on top.

The Gamecocks capped off a 10-2 regular season brilliantly Saturday evening, blowing out archrival Clemson 38-7 on Senior Day in Columbia. The 31-point margin of victory was their biggest win over Clemson since a 33-7 win in 1994.

"It's been a real special year for us, I'm mighty proud of our kids," Spurrier said after the game while dripping Gatorade from his hair. "We battled our butts off all year, we took a couple tough losses early on, but overall this has been one of the more rewarding season in my career."

The rout of Clemson was fueled by big plays, as the shortest touchdown the Gamecocks scored all day was a 43 yard run by Cory Boyd in the 4th quarter. Aside from that they got a 47 yard run by Chris Culliver, a 56 yard catch and run by Boyd, a 71 yard interception return by Marvin Sapp and a 95 yard kickoff return by Captain Munnerlyn to begin the second half.

It was a great day for the seniors in their final game at Williams-Brice Stadium. Blake Mitchell was efficient, Cory Boyd scored two touchdowns, Jasper Brinkley had 9 tackles, and Brandon Issac forced a turnover in the 4th quarter.

The Gamecocks can now sit back and watch some football now. Their postseason destination is not known yet, but it will probably be the Capital One Bowl in Orlando or the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

        Week 14 Preview
All eyes are on L.A. this weekend

        Game of the Week

        #4 UCLA (11-0) @ #1 Southern California (11-0)

Much like Ohio State and Michigan did last season, UCLA and USC will battle it out this weekend to decide a huge portion of this year's Bowl Championship Series. If USC wins, they are a lock to return to the National Championship Game in New Orleans. If UCLA wins, they have a very serious claim to leapfrog Oklahoma into one of the Championship Game spots. Whoever wins, the loser will more than likely get the Rose Bowl, which is ironic, because although UCLA always plays there, and USC frequently goes there, neither team is interested in playing in Pasadena on New Year's 2008.

Sure did. I've had to eliminate basically any playaction from my play calling because my offensive line is so pathetic.

                    Conference Championship Weekend Preview
Last chance for Sooners to make their case to the BCS

                    ACC Championship Game
                    Miami (8-4) vs. #24 Maryland (9-3)

The surprise championship matchup is in the ACC, where a month ago it seemed like a lock for the Seminoles and Hokies to meet here. However, Maryland's upset at FSU left both of them at 7-1 in the ACC, while Miami's win at Virginia Tech left them both at 6-2, and the tie breakers mean that Miami and Maryland will battle it out in Jacksonville for the ACC crown and a spot in the Orange Bowl.

                    SEC Championship Game
                    #15 Arkansas (10-2) vs. #11 Georgia (10-2)

Arkansas returns to the SEC title game for the second consecutive year, while Georgia makes its fourth appearence since 2002. The winner of this game will get the traditional SEC slot in the Sugar Bowl. Arkansas has had bad luck in the SEC Championship, losing all three appearences in the game (1995, 2002, 2006). The 2002 loss was to Georgia, 30-3.

                    Game of the Week
                    Big 12 Championship Game
                    #7 Nebraska vs. #3 Oklahoma (12-0)

For the second straight year, the Huskers and Sooners renew their ancient rivalry in the Big 12 Championship Game, this time at the Alamodome in San Antonio. For the Sooners though, there are bigger stakes. OU trails #2 Michigan 0.032 in the BCS standings, and must make an impressive statement if they are to leapfrog the Wolverines and face Southern Cal in the Championship Game in New Orleans.
