I actually got a soft verbal from Orlando Jackson, the #1 recruit. If he does sign with me that will give me three very fast HB's next year. Haley has 99 speed, so I think that is a huge reason why he is so good. Jackson has 97 speed, or a 4.20 in the game. Shawn Sanders, 99 speed, 4.16. So pair that with my QB, Ray Mathis, who will have at least 87 speed, and you are talking about one great combo. Haley will be a senior and the starter to begin the season, no matter who comes in. But, everyone is going to see the field. If you're good enough, I'm finding a spot for you. I might even put one of the freshmen as a slot receiver if their hands are good.

Still, 6-3 is not a bad record, but Clemson up next? Yikes, talk about throwing your freshman (or "frushman" as you typo-d) into direct danger. Looking forward to it.
Washington is going to get to start the final three games no matter what. He will at least get the opportunity to do well against Navy and Duke. Haley actually leads the team in receptions with 36, but he has only 279 yards, a 7.7 avg. Wow he nearly rushes for as many yards per touch. Early in the season I went with Hawaii's playbook to spread the field and use my speed. Haley caught a lot of balls early, but he's cooled off since. Here are some of his ratings, he was the #277 recruit in my first recruiting class, a 4-star prospect:

    88 OVR, 81 TRK, 76 ELU, 81 CAR, 79 SFA, 76 JKM, 92 SPM, 73 CATCH, 99 SPD, 94 AGI, 91 ACC, 95 INJ, 89 STA

I think the old saying 'when it rains, it pours' applies to your halfback situation. Going from being thin at the position to having 2 5-star recruits on your radar is one heck of a turn around. Imagine next year when you get Mathis back. You'll have a guy who can put the ball on the money and scramble, along with 2 5-star HB's. That'll be crazy.
I've done pretty well recruiting, I've had the #10, #20, and #30 recruiting classes in my first three tries. Blake Manigat was the #1 recruit overall and landing him really boosted my recruiting confidence. Shawn Sanders is from North Carolina, therefore recruiting him was a little easier. Orlando Jackson if from Florida, which is a pipeline state of mine, so getting him is a little tougher. Despite the soft verbal I still need to watch out for FSU and Auburn, they are #2 and #3 respectively on his list.

Oh, and Ray Mathis surprised me quite a bit. I had no real reason to recruit him but I saw his speed and went after him. He's progressed very nicely in his time at UNC. He's not super accurate, but he has good arm strength and can escape the pocket. I like to spread the field and use short routes then occasionally try a deep ball.

Looks like you may be able to run WVU's spread option offense with Mathis and your trio of speed backs. It's your version of Pat White, Steve Slaton, Noel Devine, and another WVU speedy back Jock Sanders!

6-3 isn't bad either. You can still win 10 games this season.

      Best of luck this season!

Thanks! Unfortunately I'm seeing some things I don't like with the gameplay. Starting to get to me a little. After this season I'm debating switching difficulty. I'm just tired of INT's that are caused by something "strange". Sometimes that ball magically shifts in flight to end up in the DBs hands. Plus their defenders having supernatural abilities is starting to get to me. I just want a more realistic game where I don't throw 30 INTs! I make some bad decisions but goodness I don't deserve that many INTs.

I love Jistic's sliders. Well, maybe it's because I play as the qb only. I do, however, know what you mean. Like you can throw a comeback and the QB will arbitrarily throw the ball inside by 5 yards. I can understand trying to incorporate random inaccurate throws but that's ridiculous.

Especially when you mashed the joystick hard to the outside on that pass >_<.

Have either of you had it where you throw a perfect pass but it gets picked off? I mean you look at the replay and the ball is heading directly for your WRs hands and within maybe 1 foot of going into his hands it switches directions and gets sucked into a defenders hands. This has happened to me on several occasions and is what really ticks me off.

Happens to me all the time. It takes a tremendous amount of restraint to keep from slamming the controller.

The Duke game was way out of hand. Slider changes coming after the season.

Well, if you listen to the Auburn fans on this board, the Tigers know how to churn out top of the line college and pro halfbacks like no other university so it's easy to see who Orlando Jackson would go there.

How about that, congrats on the bowl win - i'm sure it felt great...and I'm sure it sucked as soon as you didn't see any celebrations in the game, nice touch by EA...

But seriously, good job man - what sliders are rolling with these days? I've been using Jistic's modified default (on first page of the byu report) and having pretty good results.

Congrats on being ranked in preseason, can't wait for it all to start up.

What you need to know about the offense:
UNC fans are going to have a lot of fun watching the 2011 squad suit up on Saturdays. UNC has one of the fastest teams in the country and they are going to spread out opposing defenses to take advantage of this. The Hawaii playbook is going to be used, which means there will be at least 3 WR's in each set and all single back formations.

Junior Ray Mathis is going to have a lot of weight on his shoulders. He's expected to take care of the football and get the ball in the hands of his playmakers, which are abundant. The offense did not lose any notable players so look for them to be the strong point of this team. The line is experienced and talented so they will be counted on to give Mathis time and open up some holes for Gary Haley. Look for true freshman HB Shawn Sanders to make an instant impact. He's very fast and will be used in several roles.

Star of the offense: Senior HB Gary Haley. He's super fast and can do it all.
Player that has to step up and become a star: Junior QB Ray Mathis. He needs to be a leader.
Unsung star on the rise: Senior WR Scott Bell. Could have a breakout season.
Best pro prospect: Senior HB Gary Haley. He's Reggie Bush Jr.
                                Top three all-star candidates:
                                1) Senior HB Gary Haley
                                2) Junior QB Ray Mathis
                                3) Senior WR Scott Bell
Strength of the offense: This offense has speed, experience, and talent.
Weakness of the offense: Depth. Quarterbacks, O-line, and tight ends are extremely thin.

What you need to know about the defense:
Repeating the success that last years defense had is a bit too much to ask of UNC fans. Both corners and three defensive linemen graduated, leaving several holes in this defense. Fortunately FS Blake Manigat decided to come back for his senior season, so he will be the unquestioned leader of this squad. True freshmen DE Jason Smith and DT Darnell Doty will step into starting roles and their success will have a lot of impact on the rest of the defense.

The linebackers are very talented and can run down anyone. They are anchored by senior MLB Andre Douglas, who had a breakout season in 2010 with 77 tackles, 5 sacks, and 2 INTs. Sophomore Robert Miller and Junior Brandon Green are at the OLB positions, they are both extremely fast and athletic.

Look for the UNC defense to struggle a little against the pass, but improve greatly throughout the season.

Star of the defense: Senior FS Blake Manigat. Don't need to say anything, he's the man.
Player that has to step up and become a star: Junior DE Timi Pennington. Only had 6 sacks last season. Needs to pressure QB more often.
Unsung star on the rise: Junior CB Ben Biggers.
Best pro prospect: Senior FS Blake Manigat
                                Top three all-star candidates:
                                1) Senior FS Blake Manigat
                                2) Senior MLB Andre Douglas
                                3) Junior OLB Brandon Green
Strength of the defense: The linebackers are fast and strong. Manigat is going to make plays in the secondary.
Weakness of the defense: Defensive line lost a lot of experience and talent. Young players will need to step up and perform.

                                What the experts say...
UNC is starting to get some national respect as they begin the season ranked #23 in the country. They have a tough test @ #14 Cal to open up the season but it will be a great test to see where UNC ranks among the elite. The ACC is loaded with talent, but UNC is right up there with the other great ACC schools.

The UNC offense has the potential to be the best in the country so it should be a lot of fun to watch. Their ACC schedule isn't too tough so they'll look to try and get to the ACC Championship game at the season's end. Experts are saying that this is a good possibility. More than likely they would see the #1 ranked Florida State Seminoles if they were to get that far.

"How about that, congrats on the bowl win - i'm sure it felt great...and I'm sure it sucked as soon as you didn't see any celebrations in the game, nice touch by EA...

Thanks for the congrats. The bowl win was a great feeling. That play by Manigat certainly sealed the deal. I read your thread about celebrations and you're right, they just suck. I wish EA could take some things from 2K. NBA 2K is the best series ever in my opinion, they should just use their formula for success. I'm using my own Heisman sliders. I tweaked them for the new 2011 season. I'm going to make it easier for the CPU to pass. Hopefully this will limit my INTs. I had way too many in 2010. I also threw way too many.

I'm excited about this team. Shawn Sanders is rated an 84 to start the season as my backup HB. I made him white just for fun.
