Nice win, and I am very amused that your first score was a Delhomme scramble. Luckily New Orleans and Tampa both seemed to have offensive struggles. Alas the same cannot be said for Atlanta dropping 35 on the Cowboys!

Yeah, I dropped back with Delhomme and there was a huge hole right in the middle and there were no defenders there, so I decided to go ahead and take off, and whadda ya' know, it worked!

Thanks. Maybe I can replicate how the Panthers did in real life in 2004. I wouldn't mind an NFC Championship and a Super Bowl appearance, though the Adam Venatieri to win the game for the Patriots would certainly hurt.

            Panthers Fall 34-21 in Tampa

            (1-0)

            (1-0)

Tampa, FL - The Buccaneer defense stepped up big in this one as they forced 6 Carolina turnovers, 5 via the interception. Jake Delhomme started the game, but was pulled in the 2nd quarter after throwing 3 interceptions. 37 year old backup Rodney Peete came in and did a decent job in relief. He completed 22 of 29 passes for 265 yards and 2 touchdowns. Unfortunately, he threw 2 interceptions, but one of those was in desperation at the end of the game. Even so, Coach Frizzell announced Delhomme will start next week. "We realize Jake is our quarterback of the future and we need to give him some opportunity to develop. He will hit some bumps, but we'll give him a chance."

The Panthers outgained the Bucs 359-310, but fell short due to turnovers. The Bucs committed 2 to the Panthers' 6. Ricky Proehl and Muhsin Muhammad both had outstanding games catching the football as both eclipsed to 100 yard mark on the day.

With the loss, the Panthers fall to 1-1 while NFC South rival Tampa Bay improves to 2-0 on this young season.

Charlotte, NC - The Carolina Panthers defeated the NFC South leading Atlanta Falcons in this close battle. The Panthers jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but then Atlanta would score 24 unanswered points to make it 24-6 in the 3rd. Steve Smith would ignite the Panthers with a 92 yard kickoff return in the 3rd to get the Panthers fired up on both sides of the ball. The Panthers' offense scored 2 touchdowns in the 4th and the defense was superb as the Panthers escaped with a close 25-24 victory.

Coach James Frizzell was impressed with the way the Panthers came back from behind. "Usually, we you fall behind, you start to play sloppier, because you think you are going to lose. In this game, we never quit and it lead us to an unthinkable victory. That's why I always preach that you should never quit."

Stephen Davis starred for the Panthers today as he rushed for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns on 30 carries. Jake Delhomme did a serviceable job today as he completed 17 of 29 pass attempts for 157 yards and one interception.

With the win, the Panthers improve to 2-1.

Charlotte, NC - "When it rains it pours" they say, and that's what it did in this one. The rain fell heavy all afternoon in Charlotte resulting in just 33 combined points and several sloppy and botched plays. But in the end, the Carolina Panthers pulled ahead and won 19-14.

Both teams were held scoreless in the 1st quarter as the rain fell hard upon the drenched and muddy field. Both teams would score touchdowns in the 2nd quarter, but Carolina also added a field goal to go up 10-7 at halftime. Deshaun Foster ran in for a touchdown in the 3rd to pull the Panthers to a 17-7 lead heading into the final quarter. Joe Horn caught a pass from Saints quarterback Aaron Brooks in the 4th. Safety Mike Minter slipped in the wet conditions leaving Horn plenty of daylight as he took it 61 yards to the house to make it 17-14 Carolina. New Orleans was penalized with a safety on a 4th and 15 play with just under a minute left as they desperately tried to come back as Carolina won 19-14.

Jake Delhomme finally got through a game without an interception as he completed 16 of 24 passes for 206 yards and a touchown equating to a 107.3 quarterback rating. The line blocked well as well as Delhomme was sacked only once in the game.

The win pushes the Panthers' record to 3-1.

                            Indianapolis, IN -
The Panthers traveled to the RCA Dome to face off with Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts in this affair. The defense of the Panthers came up big again in this one as they held the Colts offense at bay, only allowing 14 points. Peyton Manning completed 17 of his 29 passes for 236 yards and 2 touchdowns, but the Panthers defense forced him to throw 3 costly interceptions.

The Panthers didn't generate much offense either as Jake Delhomme only got 75 yards through the air and Stephen Davis was held to 81 yards rushing. But 4 costly turnovers by the Colts set up the Panthers for short drives resulting in their 16 points.

The Carolina Panthers improve to 4-1 now with the win and are currently riding a 3 game winning streak.

Nice, tied for the 1st place in the division through 5 weeks, but that killer 5 interception game against the Buccs may come back to bite you and keep you from winning the division.
