Dream denied
After trailing all game, Stanford's Anthony Goods delivers in the dying seconds to end Georgetown's run

CHARLOTTE, NC - It had been the game all the media pundits had dismissed. While Memphis and Tennessee, Duke and Carolina and Kansas and UCLA dueled it out, #1 overall Georgetown faced a Stanford team without their best player. Brook Lopez wanted desperately to play, but his achillies injury prevented that. So he begged his teammates to win, so he could play in the Final Four.

His teammates came through.

After being down by as many as 13 in the the second half, Stanford staged a furious rally against the top seeded Hoyas. GU's Jessie Sapp and Austin Freeman both missed the front end of a one and one in the final minute, and Stanford drew up one final play.

Robin Lopez - Brook's twin - got the ball in the post against Roy Hibbert, who had 4 fouls. Fearing Lopez would attack the basket, Jonathan Wallace came over to help. And Lopez kicked it out to Anthony Goods in the corner, just like they had drawn it up. Goods' 3 point shot was perfect with 5.2 seconds to play. Jessie Sapp got a decent look at a 3 at the other end, and when it rattled out it came right to Hibbert under the basket - a second too late. The buzzer sounded, and Hibbert's college career ended on the wrong side of a 78-76 thriller in the East Regional Final.
