ACC Predictions
1-Wake-Lost Hale but return 9 out of their top 10 players from a year ago. More experienced and ready to roll.
2-UNC-Lost Ellington, Green, Ginyard but could be 8-10 deep again with all young kids. Carolina will always be Carolina
3-NC State-Best frontcourt in the ACC with Costner & Hickson. Did lose sharpshooter Courtney Fells.
4-Duke-Lost Singler & Henderson to NBA but pulled in another top 5 recruitng class led by Miles Plumlee.
5-Clemson-Lost Wake killer KC Rivers & Booker but return 8 players who got major minutes from a year ago.
6-UVA-Only major loss was Diane. Bradenburg and Sylvan look like players.
7-Ga Tech-Clinch, Dickey, & Aminu are gone but Iman Shumpert might be the conference's most dynamic player.
8-Va Tech-Fired coach Greenberg but the Hokies have some talent in Jeff Allen.
9-MD-Graevis declared early but Tyre Evans should step up this year.
10-FSU-Toney Douglas is gone and possibly the coach too if they have another losing year.
11-Miami-Lost McClinton & Asbury who were their best players from the last 2 years. The U is in rebuild mode
12-BC-BC suprised alot of folks going .500 last year but still fell short of the NCAA. Gone is ACC POY Tyrese Rice and his 21pts per game.
Pre-season Conference POY- JJ Hickson-NC State
Pre-season Conference Freshman of the Year- Dexter Strickland-UNC
Pre-season All-ACC 1st Team
G-John Sheyer-Duke
No Singler or Henderson means more shots. Who cares I spelled his name wrong.
G-Iman Shumpert-Ga Tech
Could be 20 & 10 (asts) if his teammates step up
F-Al Aminu-Wake
Best swingman in the conference. Solid All-Around game
F-Brandon Costner-NC State
Shined in last yrs NCAA Torney
F-JJ Hickson-NC State
Suprised he stayed but he should be dominant down low again
Outside of Sheyer, that is a pretty good first team. 4 potential NBA players with Hickson & Shumpert making the jump for sure this year. If Costner stays focused and Hickson out of foul trouble they should be at the top of the ACC.
