Another bumpage.

After winning the ACC Torney my Deacs received a 3 seed out West. After beating Manhattan in the 1st round I met up with Big XII Regular Season champ Texas A&M. I disposed of them 79-64 to head to my 2nd straight Sweet 16 where I would match up with the #7 ranked UNC Tarheels. The last time we faced them we lost on a 15ft Ed Davis buzzer beater.

This time around we were able to beat them 76-67. It was our best defense effort to date and we booked a trip to the Eilte 8 where we would match up with Pac-10 foe Washington.

Washington would come into the game as the underdog but they played with a huge chip on their shoulder. They held a team averaging 84pts per game to 67, 17 under their average by playing a sticky man-to-man defense. Despite winning the ACC Tournament, Wake wasn't able to make a repeat appearance in the Final 4.

Thanks for following. I can never put this game down. Dynasty mode is too good. I am 3-1 vs Duke all time with one loss coming in OT. We match up well with them. This year I play them twice though so we'll see how I fare.

Who's returning:

Al Aminu- 1st team ALL-ACC as a Sophmore he spurned millions in the NBA to come back for his Junior season. He will be a marked man in the ACC but he has steadily improved his game every year.

Jeff Teague - Teague will take over the PG role this year so look for his scoring #'s to remain the same while his assist totals should jump up. Teague is the quickest guard in the league and should have a great year.

James Johnson - 4 Year starter at PF, he has been the model for consistency. He has led the Deac's in double-doubles every year and improved his outside touch.

Who's New:

Clifford Guzman: 5* Juco PF out of Arizona he chose to come east despite the Arizona Wildcat's recruiting pitches. He will be the backup PF but his size and speed combination should earn him some valuable PT.

Bryant Torbert: 4* SG out of NC. This kid has NBA size already (6'6 226) and a nice jumpshot. He will battle SR Gary Clark for backup minutes at the 2 guard.

Eric McCants: Eric was the last person to sign with Wake. He is more of the Ishmael Smith mold, a pure distributer but he can shoot the rock better.

Dean Durovic: 6'10 & 259 as a true frosh is pretty imposing. He will redshirt this year to help develop his skills but look for Dean to be a force in the years to come.

Herman McClinton: Another 4* PG with good size (6'3) and a solid outside touch. He will also sit out this year but look for him to compete next year for the starting PG spot.

Yeah, OOC isn't too difficult. I mainly wanted to play some teams on the road to experience some different venues. Duke, UNC, Clemson, MD & NC St are all ranked. Duke & UNC are pretty loaded and MD has been able to recruit their own backyard (highly unrealistic..lol).

Wake 89 - Elon 76

Wake Forest started off the year with road win over the Elon Phoenix last night, 89-76. They were able to get double-digit points from all 5 starters. JR Center Tony Woods led the way with 17pts 4 rebs and 3 blocks. Sophmore SG CJ Harris chipped in with 15 pts as the Deacons pulled away late in the 2nd half. JR All-ACC performer Al Aminu struggled shooting 6-14 including 1-4 from downtown but Wake crashed the boards (+7 for the game) and was able to get many 2nd chance points. Elon SG Shannon was the high scorer in the game with 23pts. Wake will open up their home season vs Loyola, MD next.
