Gradually my play improved with the team. We started playing as a team and captailizing on our chances.

We started out strong, scoring a quick two goals. We held off any chances of them coming back or even scoring. Then to end it off. I did an end to end rush to finish off the game 3-0.

I went off the ice and headed into the dressing room. As soon as I placed down my Rbk helmet and gloves, my cellphone started to ring. It was Jessica, Nick's girlfriend.

"Hey Jason, I heard you scored"

"Yea, we won 3-0, it was pretty cool"

"Have you heard from Nick lately?"

"No, sorry can't say I have, I've been pretty busy playing in the AHL"

"Well, you know that Katie girl, your friend?"

"Yea"

"She says you better make it to the NHL soon and played the Senators so we can all hang out"

"Yea, sure, I'll talk to you later, bye"

I hung up my cell phone and started getting the rest of my equipment off.

It was 2:30 p.m and I had returned for Ottawa for 2 days, then I'd head back to the Baby Pens. I've decided to switch equipment from rbk to Easton.

I walked into Sportschek to see Jessica and Nick.

"Hey man, how's the Pens"

"Haven't cracked myself in yet Nick, how about you?"

"Not much luck either"

"Jason, it's been a while since I've seen you, are you growing a beard anytime soon?"

"No why would I want to?"

"I heard Katie likes men with beards"

"Ohhh, Jason, Katie's the new girl"

"No, at least not y-"

"Hey guys, oh my gosh, Jason is that you?"

"Well if it isn't Katie"

"We were just talking about you"

"Oh really"

"Hey Nick, I have an idea"

"What is it?"

"Lets all four of us, go to Wilkes-Barre, It would be fun, since Nick's hockey hasn't started yet, what do you say?"

"Sounds like a good idea, count me in"

"If Nick's going, I'm defiently going too"

"Sure I'll go too"

"Meet at my house tommorow at 9:30 a.m."

"Haha, yea you're right, hey I got a call from Jeff, he said he's coming down here for a while too"

"Sweet, it'd be cool to have all three of us down here, he scored his first AHL goal"

"Well I still lead in points between us three"

"That's super cool Jason"

"ohhh, I thought you were asleep?"

"No, I'm wide awake, so when's the game tommorow?"

"7:00 p.m???"

"Cool, I'm pumped, later"

Nick and I stood there, stunned.

We were walking around town, before the game of course, we as in Nick and I, were forced to go shopping by the girls, Katie and Jessica.

"Ooooh, Jessica, check out this pair of jeans"

"Oh my god, get me out of here, Jason, how do you stand this??"

"uhhh, huh, I don't really mind this actually"

"Wow, your gonna make one awesome husband when you get older Jason"

"heheh, thanks Nick"

"Next store guys, Nick carry my bags"

"Holy ****, this is a good 24 bags!!!"

"And your point is....."

"Jason can you hold my bags?"

"O.....M........G"

"What is it Jason??"

"t..t..t..t.. too many bags"

"Lets go guys, hurry up!!!"

BOTH: Alright, already!!!!

4 hours later

"Finally..home"

"Wow that was real quick, jeez, I thought you guys were NHL young guns or something"

"We are, but your shopping is on a whole new level then any hockey practise"

"Guys, I just figured it out that my game is at 6:30, bot 7:00, we gotta leave now!!!"

We drove all the way to the arena, they went to the stands while I went quickly to the dressing rooms.

I focused only on the game, and I knew in the back of my mind, I had to put on a show. With my girlfriend, my best friend and my best friend's girlfriend out there watching me.

It seemed my friends had powered me. I just knew I had to score for them.

"Come on guys, lets cheer on the Pens to victory!!!"

"Wow, I've never seen you like this before Katie"

"I'm just a little pumped to see my boyfriend playing hockey"

"BOTH: Boyfriend!?!?"

"Yea, he asked me to be his girlfriend before the game"

"Where were we doing this"

"Where else, buying popcorn"

BOTH:"oh yeaaaa"

The game started, before giving a wink over to Katie. The game started and I was on fire, I neve rknew I had these kind of capailities. I took shot after shot after shot, but I couldn't get the puck past the Rochester Americans goalie. Plante of the Americans and Brown of the Penguins were both solid in the 1st, keeping it 0-0 going into the 2nd.

I started getting frustrated, I started playing sloppy, which got me angry. I took a penalty, cross checking a player in the slot. I got out, rushed to my zone, went back into the box for another cross-checking.

"WTF ref, that was clean"

"f-in ref, needs to call some better penalties, on the Americans"

"Wow, Kaite!!"

I rushed down the ice, prepared to score like I should have been doing. I did the backhand to forehand deke, which I thought didn't work, yet it slowly rolled into the net. I circled around, beat the glass in joy.

"YEA JASON..JASON...JASON"

"That's one talented guy"

"WOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!"

While I was off, it seemed like my goal was for nothing, as the Americans tied it up fairly quickly. It went to OT, which I amazingly played all 5:00.

Neither of us could get the OT winner. It went on to the shootout.

My fellow scorer, Thomas, scored first for us Penguins. David Brown stopped each shot he faced. I went up second, but couldn't score, trying to slam it in on the backhand.

We ended up winning the game in the shootout. I was pretty good I thought, I chipped in my part and the team returned the favor. I got hugs from Nick and Jessica, and loads of kisses from Katie.
