You think this is bad? in one of my careers I had about 20 mil or so in cap space and ty law was available. I figured he would work as a nickel back, better than anyone I had there and offers instant improvement at that spot even if he is old and wont be around long. I had plenty of room and it was just a one year deal and where else would I spend the money this season. It was already preseason and most good players were gone. I decided I would bid him up to 4 mil but that was kinda my limit. HOU and ATL bid against me and I quit at 4 mil, ATL outbid me and took him. a day or 2 later he shows up again and exact same thing happens and ATL takes him again. couple days later, a third time. This time I get curious and watch the slider, they signed him. Shefter even did his little a deal was reached thing for ATL. Couple days later, again. Now I check their roster, he is on there. Couple days he is available again. after 8 times of seeing this ATL must have given up or ran out of cap space from all those bonuses since with a 4 mil a year deal there is always a bonus even in the lowest deal, I think like 1 mil or so. I ended up getting him for I think like 3.4

Re: Sick of it all...Lions Dynasty Thread
We just finished the 3rd preseason game against the Browns. We were trailing 19-0, and 26-7 at one point and came back to win 37-36 on a 10 yard TD pass with 1 second left on the clock (we finished the drive with no timeouts too). Very exciting game where we started to see some nice offensive output, at least in the second half, which has us excited about learning our new playbooks. Our defense played much better than the score indicated as well as we had a KR on us for a TD plus a missed tackle (Travis Fisher) which led to a 77 yard TD pass.
Our playbook is a balanced offensive attack based on the playbook of the Minnesota Vikings (Childress). I've added in the double TE single back formations as well as the Patriots 4 WR tight formation (custom plays though).
We were impressed with Kevin Smith this past week and plan on giving him his first "start" during week 4 of the preseason to see how he does against a 1st string D. Rudi Johnson has played well but was shutdown completely against the Browns.
WR Edgar Skaggs, an UDFA rookie, continues to impress and move up the depth chart. He returned a punt for a score and had some nice grabs through the air as well. His potential was revealed and he is a 66/81 currently. I've added Mike Furrey to the trading block at WR along with Roy as I could easily be satisfied with a Calvin Johnson, Shaun McDonald and Skaggs trio for this rebuilding year(s).
Although Stanton had a huge game against the Browns (253 yards and 2 TD's in the 2nd half) Orlovsky remains the starter through his consistent play against 1st string defenses.
Our offensive line is playing surprisingly well which is great to see.
(Backus, Claxton, Raiola, Mulitalo, Cherilus)
Darnell Bing, a SS we moved to LOLB, has adjusted nicely after a rough first game at his new position. He hasn't done anything to stand out as of yet but at least he isn't standing out for negative reasons like the 1st game.
UDFA rookie LB Dustin Jordan confirms our suspicions of being a good LB as his potential was revealed to be a 78/80 at OLB, and 78/83 at ILB.
Jordan Dizon had a nice game with 2 tackles for losses.
Ernie Sims has been solid, recording his first sack of the preseason.
Our CB's are still dreadful outside of Leigh Bodden. With Brian Kelly hurt for a while still, our CB depth looks like this:
Bodden 86/91
Glover (UDFA rookie FS) 75/85
Robinson 75/79
Fisher 78/78 (gave up that huge TD in week 3 with a missed tackle)
Wilson 75/79
We've yet to record an INT if I recall correctly and they make me get excited when they simply knock down a pass lol. These guys are all the same and they all suck from Robinson on down. Glover is a project but he has some ratings that I like at least. We'll see how it goes for him. He was out of position only once in his first game and only gave up one pass against.
FS Michael Ford, mentioned earlier, played with second team and had a similar game compared to what Glover did against the Browns. With Dwight Smight out with an injury for the next few weeks, he'll likely get the start at FS.
K Matt Prater connected on his only FG attempt of the game from 30 yards out.
Weird tidbits...
During the punt return for a TD by Skaggs, there was a clipping penalty on the Lions. The Browns declined it????!!?!?!?!?
Also, with the 2-minute warning just 3 seconds away, and with a good 10-12 seconds on the playclock, the Browns (who were still leading) snapped the ball before the 2-minute warning. This allowed us to sneak one more play out of the game which ended up being the game-winning TD throw by Drew Stanton.
More cuts to come and I'll be rearranging quite a few players on the depth chart now that potentials have been revealed!Last edited by Mike Lowe; 10-11-2008, 03:05 PM.@MikeLowe47 | YouTube | Discord

Re: Sick of it all...Lions Dynasty Thread
Looking through the team stats through 3 preseason games and things look nice. Offensive #'s are a bit high but we have some tools on offense so no biggie.
I'm lacking a bit with penalties. Any good suggestions? I have most set around 53 IIRC.@MikeLowe47 | YouTube | Discord

Re: Sick of it all...Lions Dynasty Thread
This sucks! My owner, Mr. "Bored" (not Ford lol), wants me to trade for TE Desmond Clark but the Bears have no interest in ANYONE (I put them ALL on the block just to see) on my team. They wont even open negotiations!
Any ideas?

Re: Sick of it all...Lions Dynasty Thread
I just signed a FA CB, Anwar Phillips, who is a 25 year old player who is not listed as having any service time anywhere. He is not technically listed as a rookie however. He is a 74/77.
Anyway, to give you an idea of how uninspired I am by my DBs, Anwar Phillips is now my #2 CB. His M2M cover skill is a 83 as well as his zone. I'm hoping he can just run with the WR and help our defense out until Brian Kelly is back in 5-8 weeks.@MikeLowe47 | YouTube | Discord

Re: Sick of it all...Lions Dynasty Thread
DT - Ed Johnson - signed FA
DE - Redding and White
OLB - Avril and Sims
ILB - Lenon and either Bing or Gilbert who was another FA
CB - Bodden and Fisher, traded brian kelly because I want some Man guys
FS - Smith
SS - Dizon - I just thought of this after noticing how uninvolved my SS's were being and he has the speed to do it.
LOL i just played my second game and lost to the packers 70-10. It was very very frustrating. Stanton threw pick after pick and my defense couldn't stop anything. i'm going to move Dizon back to the middle and I signed Mcquarters this week to help the secondaryLast edited by ChuckMonts; 10-11-2008, 07:17 PM.

Dismissing penalties works for all situations except special teams penalties. Any special teams penalties you need to hit the A button for either team to accept the penalty.Comment

Re: Sick of it all...Lions Dynasty Thread
Ah, sorry about that, think it would be the x button for PS3. Yes you need to open the item and the cpu team will then accept the penalty. Bit of a special teams bug.Comment

Re: Sick of it all...Lions Dynasty Thread
Yea, the Owner wants me to trade for Clark as well in my Lions Career. I think it's just like that for every career started with the Lions. Then again, Detroit really does need a playmaking TE in my opinion.Comment

Re: Sick of it all...Lions Dynasty Thread
Thats now my first one was then I started over after the patch and it wanted Duece McAllister and DE Smith from the Cards. Didn't make either trade because I hate our GM anyways . I was glad to see it's a season goal to fire him even though from what I understand you cannot actually fire him til the offseason.
