Oh and I forgot to mention, I traded with the Chiefs (again) and obtained DT Tank Tyler. We gave up a 5th round pick in next year's draft and MLB Paris Lenon. This trade was done before I signed Larry Foote and now that we've added Foote, it's a great deal.

Between Tank Tyler and Dre Moore we have two very talented (85-86 range) DT's 24 years old or younger!

I tried to sign John Abraham but he went for way more $ than what I was willing to spend. I still think I will draft a DE in the 1st round if one is available worth taking (I draft best player available within reason).

Moved along FA a few more days and signed MLB Larry Foote. I really like his skill set and I'm excited he's a Lion.

I passed up on signing C Jeff Saturday and will try my luck with Matt Birk. We need a C but I felt that the offers on Saturday were too high.

Kurt Warner signed with Atlanta. He had a rough 2008 and is very injury prone it seems. I plan on targeting Jake Delhomme, Chris Redman, and the rookie I had signed last year, Zack Curtis.

Thought about signing Kevin Faulk as a 3rd down back (98 CTH!???!) but he wanted over $3M to begin with. Not for a backup RB!

Plowing through my pro days...I'd hold off on using any names as I HATE spoilers on both ends. Looking at LT, DE, and QB right now (QB and LT are wishes of my GM). We filled our CB, DT and TE needs already in FA.

I signed LT Luke Petigout at around $1.6M for one year with no bonus money. Reason being, he could start if we don't get that 85+ player my GM wants but I could also cut him with no penalty if I realize we have no need for him. Ultimately, I'd like to get a rookie at LT and keep Luke as a backup at a decent price.

Had a couple of offers come in for QB Drew Stanton. I should have taken the 6th and 7th I negotiated with one team but I asked again and they walked (Denver I think?).

Orlovsky signed with the Jets while Shaun McDonald signed with the Patriots. Soon after, Jake Delhomme came up and although we overpaid for him we did get him. It's a 2 year deal worth $9M which was much more than what I anticipated to pay for him (more like $6-7M for 2 years) but I refused to budge and signed him to the lowest offer available with no incentives and just $1M in bonus money. He finally caved and I would have let him walk away because I was neither going to allow for incentives to push this deal even higher nor was I going to give him the $2.5M in bonus money he wanted.

Let's home we find a solution at QB somewhere in the draft.

Current needs/wants:

QB (potential to be starter one day...not this year)
RB2
FB (perhaps, not a huge lose if we don't upgrade)
WR3
TE2 (blocking TE, Mark Brunener most likely if he doesn't ask for $)
LT1 (starter, franchise player perhaps)
C1
RG1
DE (Prototype pass rusher)
FS/SS (perhaps an upgrade here...we'll see I can live with the guys we have now (Dwight Smith and Gerald Alexander with Ford and Bullocks the backups))

Other areas to add depth to but we'll do that before the preseason when the asking prices are much lower.

I have not TOUCHED my draft board as I feel like I can handle it live. The individual player workouts have me worried though because I have no idea how many Mikey Lewis will get and I'm unsure of how to narrow things down...There are a lot of players I "may" like out there.

so drew stanton isnt on the team anymore? has there been anywork outs that have impressed you?

I am going to be posted my draft board with notes just before we start the draft. I have about 25 days before the draft right now. Stanton was traded to the Cowboys for a 5th round pick in 2010.

There have been some workouts which have impressed me but I am at pick #13 and most of the guys I like wont be there I'm thinking.
