Re: A True Story. A tale of rebuilding the hopeless Detroit Lions!!!

        Before game 10, I re-signed Brandon Meriweather to a 3yr/3.18M 1.5M bonus contract.

        Game10 @Carolina:
        Woodson: 11-29, 205 yrds, 1TD, 1 INT
        Calhoun: 25 att., 62 yrds
        McDonald: 1TD
        Lenon: 1 sack
        Lenon/Briggs: 11 TKL ea.
        Briggs: 2FF
        Adibi: 1 INT
        Rolle: 1 FR
        LOST 20-14
"This was a hard game for us. It was so close at the end. We just couldnt get there." - Paris Lenon.

        Game 11 vs Tampa Bay:
This agme was a blowout from the start. At halftime, we were up 21-0.
        Woodson: 19-35, 379yrds, 5TD, 1 INT
        Calhoun: 38 att., 133 yrds
        C.Johnson: 7 rec., 149 yrds, 2TD
        McDonald: 5 rec., 116 yrds, 1TD
        Roy/M.Lewis: 1TD ea.
        D.White/C.Campbell: 1 sack ea.
        Bodden/Hamlin/Kelly: 1 INT ea.
        D.White/L.Jackson: 1 FF ea.
        Millard/Babineaux: 1 FR ea.
        WON: 41-7
(NOTE: There only TD was a INT returned for TD)

"The defensive played great. Like Ive never seen before. We shut the Bucs down today. thats a greeat feeling." - Calais Campbell on the defensive play today.

"It was just all working today. The defense, offense and the special teams. Our receivers and tight ends helped me out a lot today." - Andre Woodson

I would like to re-sign Shaun McDonald, but he is asking for 5 or 6 years at a total of 16 million with around a 5 million bonus. Thats to much for a third wide receiver. I want to keep him cuz its like him and Woodson have some sort of connection.

        Woodson is named NFC OPOW

yeah the carolina game was bad. we were down 17-14 and Serna missed a 40 something yard FG to tie it and who knows what wouldve happened after that. and we just dominated TB.

We played an all around good game. Well we have to get our running game started again if we want to get far in the playoffs. And that falls on me." - Brian Calhoun.

We finished the season at 13-3.
Our passing game has been brilliant at time with Woodson. But he misses the open WR/TE way too much or just plain over throws them. Our running game is inconsistant. We need to fix that. We have horrible secondary despite the stats put up by them. CB will be my first priority in the draft and FA along with getting more pressure on the QB from our DT. But first the playoffs.

we were 2nd in the NFC behind a 14-2 Tampa team

                          Round 1: BYE

                          Round 2 vs Philadelphia:
                          Woodson: 13-34, 159 yrds, 2TD, INT, 2 Fumbles, (sacked 7 times)
                          Calhoun: 21 att., 53 yrds, 4 fumbles
                          M.Lewis: 2TD
                          Briggs: 6TKL, 2TFL, 3 sacks, INT
                          White: 5TKL, 4TFL, 2 sacks, INT
                          Millard: 2 sacks, 5 TKL, 3TFL
                          Adibi: 5TKL, 2TFL, sack
                          LOST 27-17
The blitz killed us as u can see. BUT we had our chances,. Down 27-17 with just undr 3:00 to go, Woodson threw a TD to Roy...BUT tere was a holding penalty which negated that TD

So off to the offseason. Lets hope i can fill some holes we have. Desperately need a strong DT presance, CB help, depth at LE(L.Jackson was pretty much injured the whole season), LB, also need a HB(might just wait for Boar Jackson whenever he shows up), TE and a WR...

Also i went through the offseason(game froze, so im gonna wait till monday to start the offseason over), i hear all this talk about Boar Jackson(could really use him) and he isnt in my draft class this year same for other players ive heard about.. Any reason why?

QB: Set with Woodson. Stanton is only backup right now look to sign a better backup

RB: Need a Starter. BADLY preferrably one that doesn fumble a lot. Faulk will be released.

WR: Releasing McDonald due to high demands. Need a replacement

OL: Mulitalo will be let go. Riola may be too. So I would need a LG/C replacement.

DL: RE is set with Campbell/Bake/White. Need depth at LE. Jackson was injured most of the season.

DT:Babineaux and Redding were good, but I need more pressure. Rubin will stay hopefully he gets better during offseason

LOLB: Briggs starts. Adibi backs up and plays great

MLB: Lenon starts. He is alright. Millard is a great young player who plays great when he starts.

ROLB: Sims is there. Need depth

CB: HELP NEEDED BADLY!!!! Bodden is OK but not great. Law/Rolle will be let go due to high demands. Still have Meriweather and Lowry hopeing they improve with a new coach(hopefully i find a good one)

FS/SS: Solid there with Hamlin and Pollard starting. Alexander and Campbell are solid backups.

If you have the draft with joe kain, marquies acho, etc you will get boar jackson next year. Not really a spoiler here but this draft has a TON of great defensive linemen that can go in the 1st round, and you will find a fit somewhere in the 1st for either DE or DT no matter what philosophy you run

However, if you want Boar i think its neccesary to trade for a future 1st, since i had to give up the 9th overall, 11th overall, and a future 1st rounder to move up to the 1st overall and pick jackson.
