Re: A True Story. A tale of rebuilding the hopeless Detroit Lions!!!

Acho sounds familiar(For RB, Sweetney is the top one i think) but i have the DT Thaddeus Cheeks draft... I went through the offseason once before the game froze, and i signed Pat Williams, hopefully he is available again and MN doesnt resign him.

looks like you had a nice draft.

BTW, i think pat williams is the one who is a good one-gap penetratior, meaning he's a great pass rusher. Or that might be the other williams...

and you wont have boar in the next draft since you got a different draft path than me. But you should still be able to find a good RB. McAllister is a decent power back so if you run him up the gut he should be able to get at least 3 yards or so.

Pat Williams is the main run stopping NT type player. Kevin Williams is the pass rush type. Pat wouldn't help much if you are looking for a pass rushing DT but he's a stud against the run.

When they pop up to renegotiate, you can probably get them for the year you are on plus the next season.

Re: A True Story. A tale of rebuilding the hopeless Detroit Lions!!!

                      Season 2!

                      I released Alama-Francis and signed Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie

                      Game 1 vs Cinci:
                      Woodson: 14-20, 183 yrds, TD
                      McAllister: 29/76
                      R.Williams: TD
                      Sims: 8TKL, 6TFL, 3 Sacks, INT
                      Jackson/Redding/Campbell: Sack ea.

                      Palmer: 18-35, 266 yrds, 2 INT, TD
                      R.Johnson: 16/2
                      WON 16-7
(They have T.Suggs on the team, just thought id point that out)

                      Sims named NFC DPOW

It was a hard game. Duece did pretty good for his first game. The blocking for him was suspect at best in the game. I personally think I had rust(lol) after the offseason of not calling plays. Secondary did pretty good.

So after the game, I changed the D-Line philosophy to Run Stuffer. Pat Williams and Athya Rubin went up in overall. Williams to 88 and Rubin to 86. They are now my two starters.

                      Week 2 @ TB(MNF):
                      Woodson: 16-28, 351 yrds, 6TD(+1 Rushing TD)
                      McAllister: 23/110
                      Buckingham: 11/34
                      Friday: 6/132, 2TD
                      R.Williams: 4/124, TD
                      J.Cooper: 3TD
                      L.Jackson: 5TKL, 4TFL, 4 Sacks, FF
                      Sims: 6TKL, 2TFL, 2 Sacks
                      Williams/Campbell: Sack ea.

                      Charlie Batch: 17-33, 336 yrds, 2TD
                      Shaun Alexander: 18/101, TD
                      Stovall: 6-126, TD
                      Galloway: 4-114, TD
                      WON 52-24

                      Andre Woodson named NFC OPOW

Yes, Thats right. The Lions actually had a MNF game. We we won in a convincing matter. The Bucs were bad. I called some plays at a time when I shouldnt have and they scored.

And Yes thats right, Charlie Batch, CHARLIE BATCH, is the QB for Tampa. I laughed my *** off when I finally noticed.

Our run game was great in the game. Especially early on. Duece was going over everyone. One run, he got stopped at the line of scrimmage, but broke 2 tackles at the LoS and broke free. Then proceeded to run it up the middle of the field where he broke another 2-3 tackles. But he got injured and is out for only 1 week. Its tough now. Buckingham is 69 overall and Calhoun is a 68. Might have to release Cromartie and see whos available.

But we are 2-0 with Cleveland and Baltimore nxt on deck. The Baltimore game is gonna be a tough one with their defense.

                        Game 3 vs Clv:
                        Woodson: 24-28, 369 yrds, 4TD
                        Buckingham: 29-42, TD

                        J.Cooper: 5/63, 2TD
                        Calais Campbell: 6TKL, 5TFL, 4 sacks
                        Briggs/Lenon: 2 sacks ea.
                        Rubin/P.Williams/Pollard/Sims: Sack ea.

                        Anderson: 16-24, 256 yrds, TD
                        J.Lewis: 12/40
                        Edwards: 6/134
                        WON 41-17

We dominated their run game only allowing i think 60 total rush yards.

                        Game 4 @ Bal:
Darren McFadden on the first play of the game takes the rush 70+ yards for a TD. Well that sucked...... BUT on the kickoff after the TD, Brian Calhoun answered with a KR TD.

                        Woodson: 19-30, 276 yrds, 2TD, INT
                        Buckingham: 33/81
                        Cooper/C.Johnson: TD ea.
                        Campbell: 6TKL, 4TFL, 3 sacks, FF
                        Sims: 5TKL, 3TFL, 2 sacks
                        Briggs: 9TKL, 3TFL, 2 sacks
                        Lenon: 5TKL, 2TFL, sack
                        Hamlin: 7TKL, INT

                        Leftwich: 13-38, 200 yrds, INT
                        McFadden:8/106, TD
                        WON 30-17

We dominated their passing game. Leftwich had nothing all game due to the pressure we put on him, with 8 sacks. Campbell looks to break his sack count of last season this year. We are now 4-0.

                        Game 5 @ STL:
                        Woodson: 23-29, 303 yrds, 2TD
                        McAllister, 26/36
                        Bruce: 10/154
                        C.Johnson/Cooper: TD ea.
                        Briggs: 4TKL, 3TFL, 2 sacks
                        Campbell: 5TKL, 2TFL, 2 sacks
                        Sims: 5TKL, 2TFL, 2 sacks
                        Lenon: 4TKL, 3TFL, sack
                        O'Neal: 9TKL
                        Serna: 5/5 FG

                        Bulger: 5/6, 129 yrds, TD
                        Grossman: 9/13, 116 yrds
                        S.Jackson: 21/70
                        D.Avery: 5/117, TD
                        Gaffney: 7/98
                        WON 31-10

                        I re-signed: Tony Bake(2yr/720K, 100K), Deltha ONeal(2yr/6.5M, 1M), V.Carey(2yr/1M, 500K), J.Hester(2yr/1.4M, 250K)

Roy Williams wants around 5 years, 16M with a 11-14M bonus. McCallister wants around the same type of contract. I might just let the both of them go. Thats just too much. And thats not the worst part.

Atkinson(UDFA) wants a Roy Williams type contract. Yep same # years and same amount. Hes my 4th or 5th WR. So he'll walk at seasons end. JaJuan Cooper wants a Roy type contract too. He is one hell of a TE though. Hooper(my 1st rd pick) gets the yardage and Cooper goes in as a WR and gets the TD. So he is a really good TE, but i cant afford to keep him so he'll walk as well. and i dont want to lose him. But i also have to sign Leigh Bodden like the GM want.

OH, Marty Ferguson is asking for a huge contract as well. Whats with the UDFA and wanting HUGE contracts?

                        Game 6 @ Chi:
Woodson: 16-27, 267 yrds, TD, INT, (Rush TD)
                        McAllister: 33/128, TD
                        Hester: TD
                        Bruce: 6/107, TD
                        C.Johnson: 6/97
                        Briggs: 4TKL, 2TFL, 3 sacks
                        Sims: 5TKL, 3TFL, 3 sacks, FR
                        Bake: 4TKL, 2TFL, 3 sacks, FF
                        Campbell: 5TKL, 3TFL, 2 sacks

                        Flacco: 13-24, 189 yrds
                        Maceo Sweetney(1st overall pick): 11/47
                        WON 30-7

We completely dominated them. Their only TD was an pick6. The 1st overall pick didnt get anything. Lawrence Jackson got injured again. Thats makes him getting injured in every game this season so far. But thankfully I have Bake who just stepped in and dominated. Duece was fantastic as he ran over them all game long.

With the contract that Duece wants, its too high. Hes asking for LT money. Im not gonna give him that. I will let him wak at seasons end. So my 1st priority is HB in the 1st. Theres a back named, C.C. Beachum who is the top back in the draft and is compaired to Barry Sanders. I may have to trade up to get him., being a lions fan. We are now 6-0 and are at Pittsburgh next which is gonna be a tough game.

another great start the way you're winning it looks like you could run the tables and be like the 07 pats. does woodson still not throw to certain receivers?

I added a Soecial Skill for either QB coach or the OC that makes him target the right WR. He hits the right guy now, most of the time

How many special skills does your Head Coach have?
