    Re: Ravens: Madden 2004

Hmm, I have both CPU run ability on 53 and run blocking on 53... but to allow only 16 yards to Bettis? Well, I'm going to wait until after week 3 cuz I face LaDamion and he's always burned me for big yardage. I think I'll up the QB accuracy from 45 to 50 to see if that helps with pass completion %.

***can you give me detailed instructions on the table format thing?

      Re: Ravens: Madden 2004

Basically, you know how when changing something like making it bold or italics or whatever? On this board you would put a "b" or "i" in the brackets -> [ ]

Well, you do those, but instead of using a "b" or something put "Code" and then "/Code" in the last one. Then just type normally and space how you want it. It won't cut off spaces, so whatever it looks like in the textbox is how it'll appear in the message. I'll show you an example:

      [ Code]
Type here. Space however you want. All the spaces will show up.
      [ /Code]

*Just don't have the space inbetween the [ and "Code" and it should work.

I understand that the above was probably extremely confusing, but I hope the example helped.

            Re: Ravens: Madden 2004

            Game 2 vs. Browns: W 24-8

            Passing: A+
The buzz around Baltimore is how good can Kyle Boller be? In only his second game as a pro, he's showing the poise and leadership of a grizzled veteran. He lit up the Browns secondary going 19/24 (3 inc's b/c I hit the wrong button)for 172 yards, 2 TD's and 0 int's for a game rating of 124.2.

            Rushing: B
Jamal Lewis ran for 102 yards on 33 carries and a TD, although the last 5 carries, which netted very few yards, were used to run the clock out. Overall a good offensive performance, however his 2 fumbles (1 lost) is a cause for concern.

            Receiving: A
Todd Heap is quickly becoming Boller's favorite target as this young season progresses. He caught 8 passes for 83 yards and 1 TD. Will Travis Taylor be satisfied with his 1 for 16 yards today or will he start complaining to "give him the damn ball"? Overall solid although unspectacular performance... which is exactly what we want from our receiving corp.

            O-Line: B+
They couldn't do much worse than last time right? Well, they could, but didn't. They weren't so porous this time around as they only allowed 2 sacks on Boller (maybe b/c he ran out of the pocket on just about every passing situation), but regardless, a solid performance by the O-line. All-pro Johnathan Ogden led the way with 17 pancakes, while Edwin Mulitalo followed closely with 14.

            D-Line: A+
Once again, the first line of 'defense' for the Ravens came through big time against the Browns' rush allowing 32 yards on 22 carries. Easily the #1 ranked rush defense, it all starts with the front 3 of Gregg, McCrary, and Weaver.

            Linebackers: A
They were asked to constantly blitz the quarterback today and responded with a sack, 5 knockdowns, and 7 hurries. Although their tackle totals are a bit low, their presence still dominated the game.

            D-backs: A
When your two CB's lead the team in tackles for a game, that's usually not a good sign. So seeing that Gary Baxter and Chris McAlister both had 8 tackles to lead the team, one would suspect a closer game than it was. But defensive coach Mike Nolan had each blitz quite often in the game and it payed off as most of their tackles were against the HB and short route TE. McAlister also had a pick and returned in for 31 yards.

            Special Teams: A+
It was the Dave Zastudil show in Baltimore as 5 of his 6 punts pinned the Browns in their own 20. Even more impressive was that 3 of those 5 pinned them behind the 5 yard line. The game ball definitely goes to Zastudil as he single-handedly prevented the Browns from getting good starting field position.

                  Re: Ravens: Madden 2004

                  Game 3 at Chargers: W 34-21

                  Passing: B+
Boller had his toughest outing against the upstart Chargers with his line reading 19/33 234 yards, 1 TD and 0 int. Even though the O-line gave up 3 sacks, Boller had a hard time reading the variable coverage by the Chargers secondary and ran himself into 5 more sacks. But he did lead them down a 95 yard scoring drive late in the 4th quarter to seal the win.

                  Rushing: B+
Jamal Lewis had a solid performance... when he held onto the ball. Rushing for 140 yards on 36 attempts and 2 TD's, Lewis had the Chargers defense on their heels most of the day. However, both his fumbles were recovered by the Chargers and led to 10 points. This is obviously something that needs to be worked on during the offseason.

                  Receiving: A
Lewis and Heap led the team with 56 yards while Travis Taylor led with 5 receptions and a TD. Once again, no surprises, no mistakes. Solid.

                  O-Line: B+
Did allow 3 sacks, but for the most part gave Boller plenty of time to find open receivers. Ogden and Mulitalo led the way with 16 and 15 pancakes respectively.

                  D-Line: A
Their "worst" performance by allowing 50 yards on 14 attempts. It looked like they were in for a long day when on the first play of the game, LaDamion rumbled for a 34 yard gain but was hurt and did not return. His backup Jesse Chatman, ran for a total of 16 yards on 13 attempts. This grade would probably be a lot lower had LaDamion been healthy, but that's football.

                  Linebackers: A
The four linebackers totaled 20 tackles, 3 pass deflections, 3 sacks, and 6 tackles for losses. Once again, the heart of the defense. Everything starts and ends with this group.

                  D-backs: B
Played fairly well throughout most of the game, however had 2 major lapses in concentration when David Boston burned them for a 70 yard TD and Reche Caldwell burned them for an 87 yard TD (which brought the game to 17-14 Ravens). Overall held Drew Brees to just 11/27 and Ed Reed picked him off once.

                  Special Teams: A+
Matt Stover was 2 for 2 in field goal and 4 for 4 in extra points. Zastudil punted 7 times for 234 yards with yet another behind the 20. But the star of the day was Chris McAlister with an amazing 66 yard punt return in the 4th quarter to completely deflate any hopes of a Chargers comeback.

                        Re: Ravens: Madden 2004

                        Game 4 vs Cheifs: L 22-21

                        Passing: B+
Boller had his 4th straight solid performance against one of the league stingiest pass defenses finishing the day 21/33 for 299 yds, 1 TD and 0 int. Even though his numbers look solid, his inexperience started to show in this game as he hurried many throws which his receievers had to make amazing catches to bail him out of. With the Ravens trailing by a point with 2 minutes left, he led the team down to the Chargers 45 but threw 2 incomplete passes and held onto the ball too long on 3 and 10 and was sacked for a 6 yard loss.

                        Rushing: C+
Lewis rushed for 73 yards on 20 carries with 2 short TD runs early in the game. However, like the previous 2 games, he fumbled twice and although we recovered both, each killed potential drives including the last fumble in the 4th quarter to snuff out any potential comeback.

                        Receiving: A
Heap (78 yards) and Marcus Robinson (130) led the way with 6 receptions each. Robinson had the play of the day with a sizzling 74 yard TD reception.

                        O-Line: C
Allowed 5 sacks... which is becoming annoying to the Baltimore fans and this writer. Failed to open up any holes in the left side for Lewis. At least no one was hurt.

                        D-Line: C+
Allowed Preist Holmes 67 yards on 26 carries, but was unable to stop him when it mattered most. Kelly Gregg had the only sack of the day, but the entire d-line could not get any pressure on Trent Green (25/38 306) and he went buck wild on our secondary.

                        Linebackers: B
Hartwell and Suggs each had 8 tackles and surprisingly only 2 from Ray Lewis. They were able to stop Holmes behind the line on 4 separate occasions, but like the d-line, could not get any pressure on Green.

                        D-backs: C-
Were absolutely lit up by Trent Green. Although they didn't allow any passing TD's, they were constantly beat in the secondary by the Chiefs WR's especially on their game-winning drive where Green went 7 for 7 for 62 yards setting up a Holmes 1 yard TD run.

                        Special Teams: n/a
Nothing interesting to write about. Stover did not have any field goal attempts, Zastudil had 7 punts with another within the 20. No big breaks on either team.
