      Re: Ravens: Madden 2004

      Game 4 at Cardinals: W 70-10 (yikes!!!)
      Code:

      Team Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 OT FINAL
      Ravens 14 21 7 28 0 70
      Cardinals 0 3 0 7 0 10

      Passing: A
Boller had another outstanding performance as he demolished the Cardinals secondary with 16/28 254 yards, 3 TD and 0 int.

      Rushing: A
By far his best performance to date, Lewis had 130 yards on 29 attempts along with 2 TDs. His dominant performance forced the Cardinals to defend against the rush, which opened up many passing lanes for Boller.

      Receiving: A
Although Heap, Robinson and Terry Jones each had a TD catch, it was Travis Taylor that stole the show for the receivers as he pulled down 7 catches for 155 yards. On a post pattern outside, he broke free for a huge 58 yard gain in the second quarter to give the Ravens a first and goal at the 2.

      O-Line: A
Another solid performance by this improving group of linemen. Only allowed 1 sack on Boller and opened up huge lanes for Lewis to run through. Ogden led the way with 17!!! pancakes (yes, the pancake stats are a bit high it seems).

      D-Line: A
The D-line had very little trouble with future Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith as he was held to just 44 yards on 20 carries with 21 of those yards on 1 carry. Anthony Weaver had 2 more sacks to add to his total. Michael McCrary recovered a fumble and ran it back 17 yards for a TD.

      Linebackers: A
The linebackers had a total of 24 tackles, led by Lewis and Suggs each with 7. Boulware and Suggs each had a sack while the group had 5 tackles for losses led by Boulware's 3.

      D-backs: B+
Allowed only one meaningless 4th quarter TD, and did allow Jeff Blake's 299 yards passing, but they deflected 7 of Blake's passes and Chris McAlister picked one off and ran for 58 yards for a TD.

      Special Teams: A+++++
This is where the team shined today led by Chris McAlister's record setting performance. He not only returned an interception for a TD, but also had a kick return AND a punt return for TD's. The punt was returned for 71 yards in the 4th quarter, well after the game had been decided. EVEN MORE EXCITING THAN THAT was his kick off return. With a stiff 13 mph wind blowing in their backs, Cardinals kicker Bill Gramatica launched a kickoff to the back of the Ravens endzone. Everyone thought McAlister would kneel on it, but he took it out! Cutting through the defense along with 2 fantastic stiff arms, Chris took off for the end zone. After officials saw the replay, they decided that Chris took this kickoff 108 yards!!! A new NFL record! (I saved the replay and if someone tells me how to put it up on the web, I'll upload it for ppl who are interested in seeing it).

            Re: Ravens: Madden 2004

So I decided to up the sliders on CPU running ability to 60 and run blocking to 60 (for those that don't have the pc version, the sliders are on a 0 to 100 scale, with 50 being default). Maybe these will help the CPU run a bit better against my defense.

                  Game 6 at Bengals: W 12-9
                  Code:

                  Team Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 OT FINAL
                  Ravens 2 0 0 10 0 12
                  Bengals 0 3 3 3 0 9

                  Passing: C
By far his worst performance as a pro, Boller finished the day 16/32 178 yards with 0 TD's and int's. It was amazing that he wasn't picked off more often as he kept throwing into double coverage all day. One interception was called back due to a defensive pass interference. He did however, lead the team to the game-winning drive in the 4th quarter by going 3 for 3 with 38 yards.

                  Rushing: C
Lewis's line is starting to look the same every week... 136 yards on 36 attempts and 1 TD. Pretty solid numbers which should warrant a higher grade, but his 2 fumbles lost prevented the Ravens from running away with this as both his fumbles led to Bengals field goals.

                  Receiving: A
Heap led the way with 5 catches for 43 yards. No one dropped a pass and no one fumbled. A good day for the receiving corp.

                  O-Line: B
Opened up huge running lanes for Lewis all day but could not keep the pocket formed for Boller. For the most part, kept the Bengals defense on their heels, but did allow 3 huge sacks to Boller. Ogden led the way with 9 pancakes.

                  D-Line: A
Only allowed 72 yards rushing to the leagues 4th leading rusher Corey Dillon. And Weaver scored another sack. McCrary tackled Dillon in their own endzone for the Ravens first safety of the year.

                  Linebackers: A
Went buck wild on the Bengals offensive unit. Ray Lewis led the way with 9 tackles as the linebacking unit combined for 6 tackles for losses, 2 sacks, and 2 pass deflections.

                  D-backs: A
A solid effort by the secondary as they kept Kitna to only 206 yards with no wideouts getting more than 57 yards. Alvin Porter and McAlister both registered interceptions.

                  Special Teams: A
Solid performance by the special teams unit. Unspecatcular, but made no mistakes and Zastudil kept the Bengals deep in their own territory with 3 more punts in the 20.

Boller's inexperience showed today against the veteran defense of the Broncos. He finished the day 18/36 for 173 yards with 0 TD's and his first 2 picks of the season. His second pick of the day sealed the Ravens loss. First and goal in the 4th quarter with 45 seconds left, he rolled out right looking for Heap in the endzone but didn't see John Mobley standing right in passing lane for an easy pick.

                        Rushing: A+
If it weren't for Lewis, this game would have been much more lopsided. He ran for 123 yards on 23 carries with 3 TD's. But most importantly, he didn't turn the ball over once in today's game.

                        Receiving: B-
Heap led the way with 8 catches for 78 yards, but the group dropped 4 passes total; which aren't that many but each pass dropped happened on 3rd down situations killing the potential rally.

                        O-Line: C+
Tale of two stories for this group. Opened up huge running lanes for Lewis, but allowed them to get to Boller another 5 times. The pocket seemed to collapse all day as we saw Boller flushed out time and time again.

                        D-Line: C
Spanked all day by HB Clinton Portis (35 att., 152 yards), they looked confused as to whether to go for Portis or Plummer, and when they decided it was usually wrong. McCrary did recover a fumble but that seemed to be the highlight of the day for the front 3.

                        Linebackers: A-
Boulware and Suggs had 8 and 7 tackles respectively with the tandem getting 4 tackles for losses, Boulware with a fumble recovery, and Suggs with 2 sacks. But the MLB's Lewis and Hartwell must not have shown up to play as they totaled 3 tackles and didn't seem to be a part of many plays.

                        D-backs: B-
Played on their heels most of the day allowing a huge 71 yard TD pass from Plummer to McCaffrey. Did deflect 4 passes, but seemed to get beat more often than not.

                        Special Teams: C
Zastudil punted 6 times with yet another 2 finding its way behind the 20 (actually, both ended up on the 3 yard line). McAlister ran yet another punt for 56 yards and a TD. But the crucial mistake in special teams came against Deltha O'Neal. With the score tied 31-31 and 4 minutes remaining in the game, Zastudil punted and O'Neal took it back 60 yards for a TD, which proved to be the game winner.

Lewis finished the day with 106 yards on 34 carries and 1 TD. Not outstanding numbers but his numbers provided a huge difference in time of possession advantage for the Ravens (30:51 vs 21:09). Once again, he didn't fumble the ball, so that's always a good thing.

Did allow Brunell to pass for a TD, but for the most part disrupted the receiever's route and did not allow Brunell to find many open receivers. Knocked down 8 passes as a group.

                              Special Teams: A-
Chris McAlister is quickly becoming a return man to be feared in the NFL. He returned yet another kickoff 98 yards for a TD and had a fine day returning punts (3 for 43 yards) giving the Ravens great field position. The only blemish on the ST unit was that Stover missed an easy 39 yarder at the end of the 2nd quarter.

Did allow Brunell to pass for a TD, but for the most part disrupted the receiever's route and did not allow Brunell to find many open receivers. Knocked down 8 passes as a group.
