Re: Our Success After 3 Series

No stats for this game, but we lost our 5th straight. Randy Johnson pitched a 5-hit shutout, and the D'Backs win the game 5-0

The Padres play host to the division foe D'Backs in the rubber match of a 3-game set, trying to put an end to the 5 game skid, after a season opening 6-game win streak.

Adam Eaton and Brandon Webb both pitched a superb game. The game was a shutout for both teams up until the 9th inning.

The D'Backs got Steve Finely on base at the top of the 9th inning, and Sexson bent a line drive on the 3B line, called fair. Finely would score. Remember, Sexson was the one to win the game for the D'Backs in the first game of this series. The D'Backs then brough in their closer, Matt Mantei, and he gave up an immediate double to Brian Giles. Phil Nevin followed with a double to the wall, scoring Brian Giles. Klesko could become the hero, and he did so, shooting another double to the wall, scoring Nevin, and the Padres pull it out at the last minute, winning the game 2-1. They put an end to their 5 game losing streak.

      W - Hitchcock (1-0)
      L - Mantei (1-1)

      Nevin 2-4, RBI double
      Giles 1-4, double, E (catch)
      Klesko 2-4, RBI double
      Eaton 8 IP, 4 H, 3 K

      Sexson 2-4, RBI
      Webb 7 IP, 5 H, 4 K

            Padres @ G-Men

            @

The Padres meet the Giants for a second time this season, and the Giants are struggling badly, with a very subpar 2-10 record. The Padres just stopped their losing streak at 5, giving them an 8-5 record.

The game started out with a Terrence Long single past the first basemen for a single. Giles would eventually come up 3rd in the lineup with a run-scoring double off of the Right Field wall. Later, he would hit a solo HR over the same wall into McCovey Cove.

Basically, Tomko could never get it together, leaving after 3 innings, giving up 4 runs. The Giants scored 1 run, but the Padres ran away with the game. Brian Buchanan hit a PH-Homerun, his first of the season. The Padres win, 5-1

            W - Peavy (1-1)
            L - Tomko (0-1)

            Giles 2-4, HR(4), double
            Payton 2-4 RBI
            Buchanan 1-1 PH-HR(1)
            Long 2-4, triple

The Padres seem to own the Giants so far this season, and it looks like it will stay that way. The Padres poured out on the Giants. Save a late game run, the Padres dominated this game. Giles went yard for the second straight game, and led the Padres to another victory, 8-6 over the Giants

The Padres play game 3-4 at SBC Park against the Giants, and it's the same old story. The Padres start the game on fire, and go on to another victory. Although Wells pitched a great game, Giles lead his team once again, hitting a HR for the third straight game, which gives him 6 on the year. In the first inning, Giles ran for a triple, and a bad throw home would make it an Inside The Park Homerun. Khalid Greene returned to the lineup and hit his first homerun of the season. Terrence Long continues to do big things leading off, scoring a triple in todays game. The Padres win another game over the Giants, 6-4

                        W - Wells (3-0)
                        L - Schmidt (0-3)
                        S - Hoffman (2)

                        Giles 4-5, HR (6), triple

The Padres continue playing their NL West foes, and visit the DBacks. Randy Johnson was on the hill, and the Padres found it hard to face Johson in the last meeting, earlier this season.

Johnson was his usual self, shutting down the entire Padres lineup, and he pitched a 3-hitter. In the meanwhile took his 0.00 to Arizona and get it ruined by giving up 5 runs. Hammock and Finely both took him deep. The Padres struggle, and lose to the DBacks 5-1.

                              W - Johnson (2-0)
                              L - Eaton (0-1)

                              Hammock 3-3, 2-run HR(5)
                              Finely 2-4, 2-run HR(4)
