Padres visit BankOne Ballpark to face DBacks

    @

The Padres continue playing their NL West foes, and visit the DBacks. Randy Johnson was on the hill, and the Padres found it hard to face Johson in the last meeting, earlier this season.

Johnson was his usual self, shutting down the entire Padres lineup, and he pitched a 3-hitter. In the meanwhile took his 0.00 to Arizona and get it ruined by giving up 5 runs. Hammock and Finely both took him deep. The Padres struggle, and lose to the DBacks 5-1.

    W - Johnson (2-0)
    L - Eaton (0-1)

    Gonzales 3-4, double
    Hammock 3-3, 2-run HR(5)
    Finely 2-4, 2-run HR(4)

    Payton 2-3 double
    Giles 1-3
    Klesko 0-2 RBI

Peavy took the hill against the young starter, Brandon Webb. Webb pitched a good game up until the 5th inning, when the offense started to come through for San Diego.

However, The Padres suffered some very bad news. When making a play at First, Phil Nevin landed akwardly and Tore His ACL, and is definetly out for 8-12 months.

Still, this did not affect how the Padres finished the game, however it will defintely shake things up for the duration of the season. The Padres win 5-2

      W - Peavy (2-1)
      L - Webb (0-1)

      Greene 2-5, run, 2 doubles
      Payton 2-4, 2 RBI, triple
      Giles 1-5

      Cintron 2-4 rbi double
      Sexson 0-2 rbi
      Hammock 3-4

Sean Burroughs made a return to the lineup after being dinged up at the beginning of this season. Klesko moves to first base.

Valdes pitched a pretty good game, but again, the Padres got by with enough offense in this game. The DBacks got up to an early 2-0 lead in the 1st inning, but the Padres played small ball to push themselves ahead. Giles tied the game with a solo HR, and then when he came around again later in the game, he gave the Padres a lead with another HR. Padres take care of business, win this game 6-2, and win the series 2 games of 3

            W - Valdes (2-0)
            L - Dessens (1-2)

            Giles 2-4, 2 HR(8)
            Long 2-5, RBI, double, triple
            Burroughs 2-4
            Payton 2-4 double

            Gonzales 3-4, HR(3)
            Kata 3-4

                        Padres Update

With the sudden shakeup of the teams immediate future with Phil Nevin's ACL Tear, we have expressed that would like to move Nevin before the trade deadline, this season. Also, we are willing to throw in Ryan Klesko or Jay Payton so that the beneficiary will have instant gratification.

Talks have been made with the Brewers about Geoff Jenkins.

Montreal visits the Pacific in a match against the Padres. Giles stands out as an EXTREMELY early MVP candidate, while Brad Wilkerson does his thing for Montreal.

Speaking of Giles, he hit another homerun early in this game that set the tone. In the meanwhile, the elder David Wells pitched another superb game, shutting down the Expos in a complete game. Offense was by no means scarce, and the Padres won this game by a count of 6-0

                              W - Wells (4-0) CG, 0Ks, 2 hits
