New York Jets receive: LG Fred Weary (74 OV)
Houston Texans receive: QB Brooks Bollinger (73 OV)

            Chris Mortensen's Analysis

This looks like a fair, low-profile trade that helps both teams as well as both players. Bollinger was sitting at 4th on the Jets' depth chart behind Pennington, Clemens, and Ramsey. In Houston, he could very well be the backup to David Carr at the start of the season, although Sage Rosenfels may have something to say about that. But he'll also have the opportunity to learn from Gary Kubiak, who is one of the brightest offensive minds in the game. If I'm Brooks Bollinger, I'm ecstatic about this change of scene. The Texans should be happy too, as they received some much needed depth at the QB position.

From New York's point of view, they traded away a fringe player and acquired a solid contributor. The Jets truly needed some help at guard, because behind the starters, they had only Isaac Snell (68 OV) and Steve Morley (64 OV) as their backups. Weary will instantly become the primary backup for both of New York's guards.

Overall, Brooks Bollinger is the real winner here, but both teams should be happy, as everybody filled a depth need. It's not the sexiest trade of the year, but it's a good, solid move that'll pay off in the long run.

            Fast Facts

            Team MVP: Victor Hobson, LOLB
Hobson was a playmaker in every sense of the word today, recording a sack and two forced fumbles. The turnovers caused by Hobson resulted in two New York scores, and one -- a hit on TE Chris Cooley at the Jets' 18 yardline -- may have prevented a Washington touchdown.

            Who's Hot: Cedric Houston, RB
After leading the team in rushing last week in Tampa Bay, Houston was given a chance to work with the first team offense today, and he made the most of the opportunity by gaining 52 yards on 10 carries and catching 3 passes for another 52 yards. After these two strong performances, Houston appears to have the edge on the starting RB job halfway through the preseason.

            Who's Not: Rashad Washington, FS
The backup free safety was directly responsible for both of the Redskins' second half touchdowns. In the 3rd quarter, running back TJ Duckett stiff-armed him en route to a 9 yard TD run. Then, in the 4th, David Patten torched him for a 43-yard score with 59 seconds left in regulation.

            Play of the Game
Kellen Clemens' 37 yard touchdown pass to TE Chris Baker was a thing of beauty. With the pocket collapsing around him, he rolled out to his left, and then, throwing across his body, lofted a deep pass over the head of Redskin LB Warrick Holdman for the score.

Oklahoma State Prevails in Defensive Battle, Beat UCLA in OT 16-13

PASADENA, Calif. -- It took a series of overtime play for the Oklahoma State Cowboys to shut the door on the UCLA Bruins and their comeback-rally attempt in the season opener on the road.

Vernand Morency squeezed his way through the o-line for the game-winning score after Oklahoma State's defense held UCLA to a field goal on the first series in OT.

UCLA fought back from a 10-0 deficit early in the game that saw Drew Olson throw four interceptions in the first two quarters for the Bruins. Chalk that up to nerves, though, as he bounced back in the second half to bring his team within striking distance to win the game in the closing seconds of the fourth quarter. Mismanagement of the clock, however, saw time expire as the team was closing in on an opportunity to kick a game-winning field goal.

"We didn't get down in time, and unfortunately the clock ran out before we could call timeout to setup the kick," said head coach Flacko Mars. "We had a few big drops that would have sealed the game, but sometimes that's how it goes."

Oklahoma State relied on freshman Donovan Woods behind center with the absence of their main signal caller Josh Fields who is nursing an ankle injury. On the other hand, the Bruins were without their core linebacker Spencer Havner (suspension), and lost defensive ends Kevin Harbour and Brigham Harwell during the game to injuries. Still, the shorthanded UCLA defense was able to stimy the Cowboys offense for the most part.

Overall, it was an ugly game in Pasadena, as the quarterback play was poor on both sides and neither offense could gather much if any momentum throughout.

              Greatness Score: 593

Injury Update: Two Bruins were injured in this game: Starting LE Kevin Harbour (dislocated elbow - 10 weeks), and his backup LE Brigham Harwell (broken ribs - 2 weeks).

                  Keys to the Game

                  Packers

                  Ground Game
Green Bay ran the football 15 times for just 62 yards against the Saints in week 1. That is just not good enough especially for a team that likes to feature the offense around being able to run effectively. Aaron Jones needs more touches against Detroit to get this ground game on track

                  Takeaways
Joe Berry's defense did not force any turnover last week, and to compound the problem Green Bay gave the ball away three times. (-3) in the turnover differential is uncharacteristic for Aaron Rodgers and a Matt Lafleur offense that has always prided themselves on taking care of the football.

                  Third Down
Green Bay's offense was just 2-8 on 3rd down and P Corey Bojorquez was called on to punt 4 times. The offense needs to be more efficient and sustain drives longer

                  Lions

                  Defense must avoid big plays
Detroit's defense must focus on limited Green Bay's big plays downfield. Aaron Rodgers didnt take many down field shots last week and i expect that will change Monday Night at Lambeau. This young Detroit secondary will certainly be tested by Aaron Rodgers

                  Jared Goff
Jared Goff had a lions debut to forget last week. He managed only 119 passing yards and only put up 7 points on offense. After DeAndre Swift and Tj Hockenson offense does not have much fire power and Jared Goff needs to play better if he hopes to lead this Lions team to future success

                  Weather the Lambeau Field storm
The Packers return home to a packed house for the first time in over a year and expect the crowd to be loud in Lambeau Monday Night. If Detroit can counter punch early, they might be able to neutralize this crowd.

Manchester, United Kingdom – Rumblings of unease have been reported in the United locked room centered around Paul Pogba. Pogba was subbed off for Donny van de Beek after scoring in United’s 2-1 loss in Wolverhampton on Sunday. Pogba was reportedly very angry in the locker room after the game, and many of his United teammates were unsure of the decision to put on van de Beek in a road game that was still tied.

The story is of elevated importance as United are currently working to find a contract extension with Pogba, who they once bought from Juventus for £89 million pounds. If he leaves for free after this season, it will be one of the more remarkably bad signings in United history after five seasons of injuries and inconsistency.

Pogba does seem to be thriving in new coach Thomas Walker’s system so far, having scored two goals in the team’s first three games and featuring more offensively than he has in the past. Pogba was relegated to a secondary midfield role under Ole Gunnar Skolsjær after the team brought in Bruno Fernandes.

The team has not commented on the situation, and Pogba has already left the club to join the French National Team for their world cup qualifying games this break.
