Yeah man. I moved up one spot on his list, and it's just recently been confirmed that his potential is an A+, GREAT!

I'm after another dude from New Jersey, Ryan Howel, who is a SG with good point guard skills and good intelligence. I need some smarts right now, we turned the ball over way too much against Memphis.

Man, sucks you lost that one to Memphis, would've been a big win for your squad.

Anyway - what position are you on Grizzard's school list?

I'm third behind Syracuse and Saint Joes. It looks like he's going to Cuse, but the signing period has past, so he's still fair game. I really have to beat Cuse this year and make an impression in both the Big East and NCAA tourney. I really want this kid. Krauser will probably bounce out, but if he doesn't I still want Vakeaton to come here and be ready when Carl leaves.

Grizzard is the best point guard of this recruiting class.

Pitt Panthers Prowling - Top Penn State

                Pitt Panthers @ Penn State

The Panthers visit 1-4 Penn State in hopes of bouncing back strong from their disappointing 88-71 loss in the Wachovia Center.

In this game, they came out weak, but pure talent gave them an instant advantage. One thing that teams have learned this season is that talent only goes so far. At the end of the half, they led 39-28, PSU threatening.

Carl Krauser carried the team for all of the first half, but the second half was emphasis on the big men Chris Taft and Chevvy Troutman. Both grabbed key rebounds and played lockdown post defense which lead to Pitt's transistion game. Pitt got their run on, and eventually knocked off the Nittany Lions 79-58.

                Pitt Stats
Carl Krauser 25 points, 5 assist, 4 steals
Dante Millgan 2 points, 8 assist
Chris Taft 14 points, 7 rebounds

                PSU Stats
Marlon Smith 20 point, 5 assist
Aaron Johnson 10 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assist

                    Big East Report

Blue Chip Recruit, Brooklyn born Vakeaton Grizzard has been offered a scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, and will be attending Saturday's game against Coppin State while touring the campus.

The Big East has 4 teams in the current Top 25 (UConn, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Pittsburgh).

Chris Thomas leads the league in scoring at 19.2 points and 5.5 assist per game.

Carl Krauser leads the league in assist with 5.7 per game and is second in the league in scoring with 18.7 points per.

Vakeaton Grizzard's New York City friend Neal Payton signed with the University Connecticut last week, rated the second best point guard in the next recruiting class. He said "I'm looking forward to playing with UConn already, but Von (Vakeaton) and I grew up dreaming to rival each other in the same conference. If I was him, I'd sign with either Syracuse or Pittsburgh. I can't wait to play against him, regardless."

Pitt Still not Playing Well, but Beat Richmond

                            Richmond Spiders @ Pitt Panthers

Pitt has been knocked on such channels like ESPN and CBS for not beating down the inferior opponents. While they are not playing VERY well, they are still winning games just because of their talent. Richmond is the type of team that can sneak up and beat the giants of the NCAA, like they beat Kansas last year.

Richmond came into the game, and they were nothing less than competitive. They did a good job disturbing Pitt's flow of offense, and actually led the basketball game at the half, 34-33. The key to their great defense was taking Carl Krauser out of the game. He got into foul trouble late in the first half, which is exactly when the Spiders went on their run to end the half up by one.

In the second half, Krauser adjusted his game, and got back to running the break like Coach Shultz wants him to do. When Pitt runs, they are hard to stop, because their above average defense forces a lot of the turnovers committed by the opposing team. Krauser did a good job finishing the game off, and Pitt ran away with it, 69-54.

                            Pittsburgh Stats
Carl Krauser 14 points, 5 assist
Keith Benjamin 4 points, 7 assist
                            John DeGroat 15 points

Amazing Comeback Pitt Victory at Peterson's

                                South Carolina @ Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh has played cupcakes all year, constantly knocked my Vitale for only difficult tests against Memphis and Oklahoma State, in which they failed. The Panthers would get another big test in tonight's matchup with South Carolina.

South Carolina is playing very good ball at 7-3. It was also evident when they came out and embarassed the Panthers on the road. Krauser has been the key for the Panthers every game this season, but he was a non-factor in tonights game. He complained about the refs calling "ticky-tack" fouls, and had an early exit, leaving the game in the second half with 13 minutes left because he fouled out. South Carolina stepped up with his absence, and led the game at the break, 40-22.

This game had blowout written all over it, but Pitt showed tremendous heart and fought their way back into the game with 6 minutes left. Chris Taft scored all 21 of his points in the second half, and played great defense on the other end. Freshman guards Keith Benjamin and John DeGroat got out in transition with high-flying dunks to ignite the crowd.

Pitt had the last possesion of the game, in which they went inside to Taft who got fouled with no time left. The game was tied, and he sunk the two free-throws to win the basketball game.

Pitt pulled off an amazing comeback and win 65-63.
