    Sophomore F/C Linas Kleiza

Even after all of the problems the Missouri Tigers have had with the NCAA the past few years, they still have a solid core of players for the 2004-05 season. Led by F/C Linas Kleiza and G/F Jason Conley, Mizzou believes they have a shot at the Big Dance in March.

    The Starting Lineup..

pg - Jason Horton - This freshman brings plenty of playmaking ability to the table for the Tigers, and should thrive under Coach Hatten's offense. With scorers all around him, Horton should rack up huge assist numbers in his freshman season.

sg - Jimmy McKinney - McKinney is a pure scorer out of St. Louis, and provides leadership for this fairly young Mizzou squad. As a junior, McKinney will be expected to score and play a little defense as a 2-guard.

f - Jason Conley - Conley, a senior, is a pure scorer. Playing small forward this season shouldn't be too difficult for Conley, and at 6'5", 212lbs, he may even be a mismatch for most teams. On and off the court, Conley will be expected to come up big for the Tigers this year.

f - Marshall Brown - This lanky 6'7" swingman will get the pleasure of starting as a freshman for Coach Hatten's Mizzou Tigers. Brown can score and soar for rebounds, but won't be expected to carry much of a load as a frosh.

c - Linas Kleiza - The big man on the floor for the Tigers this year will be Kleiza, who is fully capable of scoring in bunches and grabbing huge rebounds. Only a sophomore, Kleiza should be a solid starter for at least a couple years.

    Sixth Man

g - Thomas Gardner - A 6'5" sophomore, this kid can do it all offensively. Although the Tigers have three solid guards in the starting lineup, Gardner will see plenty of PT.

                Watchdog Classic Tournament
                Hearnes Center - Columbia, Missouri

The Brown Bears and Missouri Tigers hooked up in the first round of the Watchdog Classic in Columbia, Missouri. The Tigers were heavily favored, and fully expected to lay it on these Ivy Leaguers.

To begin the game, the Bears' players played with chips on their shoulders. Definitely surprising anybody willing to watch, Brown gave Mizzou a run for their money, exchanging basket after basket. Eventually, however, those chips wore off, and so did the Cinderella slippers. The Tigers started pulling away, and were up by 15 at the half.

The second half saw Mizzou pull farther and farther away, and Brown never really had a chance to catch back up. Linas Kleiza was dominant in the post, and helped the Tigers to the 85-43 win.

                    Hearnes Center - Columbia, Missouri

The Louisville Cardinals and Mizzou Tigers met in the championship game of the Watchdog Classic. Coach Hatten's Tigers were seen as underdogs, but definitely weren't going to roll over.

Early on, Mizzou stayed competitive and gave Louisville a run for their money. After a few back and forth moments, the Cardinals decided enough was enough. That was when stars Francisco Garcia, Taquan Dean, and Larry O'Bannon took over. The three combined for numerous points in transition and in the halfcourt, and the Tigers were fully incapable of making stops. Going into the intermission, Mizzou saw the game slipping away.

The second half was up and down for the Tigers, as Louisville continued to toy with them. For the first few minutes of the half, the Tigers slumped. Missing shot after shot, Coach Hatten finally called a timeout to settle his players down. It obviously worked, as Mizzou battled back and eventually found themselves with a defecit of only four. However, the Cardinals pulled away again, beating Missouri 97-89.

                        Hearnes Center - Columbia, Missouri

The Davidson University Wildcats came to town to take on the recently whipped Mizzou Tigers. Coach Hatten's squad was looking to rebound after taking an L against Louisville, and they were confident right out of the gate.

Mizzou hit shot after shot to begin the game, showing signs of brilliance again and again. However, so did Davidson. Everytime the Tigers did something good, so did the Wildcats, and the first half ended as a stalemate, as neither team could gain an advantage.

The second half, however, was completely different. Eventually, Davidson's shooters cooled off, giving Mizzou the advantage. Linas Kleiza and Jason Conley took over offensively, and Missouri beat Davidson 80-66.
