Final | 1 | 2 | T |
Alabama Crimson Tide | 28 | 37 | 65 |
Auburn Tigers « | 45 | 57 | 102 |
Often seen as inferior to it's football counterpart, the basketball rivalry of Alabama and Auburn is still a huge one to the SEC faithful.
To begin the game, Toney Douglas must've wanted to experiment. For the first three minutes or so, the only shots he took were three-pointers, and he drained several of them. After Alabama stars Kennedy Winston and Ernest Shelton got into foul trouble, the Tigers kept running up the score, and had a more than comfortable lead on the Tide. AT THE HALF, Douglas had 31 points on 9-18 three-point shooting, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.
In the second half, Auburn rested most of their starters for another day. However, Douglas stayed in for one reason; to record his third triple double of the season. It only took him a few minutes to do so, and the Auburn star led his team to a huge victory, 102-65.
