#4 Michigan 39 42-81
#2 Georgia Tech 37 32-69
In their first meeting this season in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, Georgia Tech's B.J. Elder scored 39 points as Georgia Tech blew Michigan out, 88-71. That game was in Atlanta on GT's home court, however. This was the Albuquerque Regional Final, at The Pit in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Michigan vowed that Georgia Tech would not break them down again.
Instead, the opposite happened, as Michigan never trailed and led by double digits for most of the game, and with the 81-69 win, they sealed their destiny: A spot in St. Louis in the Final Four for the first time since the legendary Fab Five led them there in 1993.
