Cowboys shoot lights out from 3 point range win 104-52
Joey Graham shoots over Demon guard Keenan Jones in the 1st half

Three guys on the Oklahoma State basketball team had the shooting game of their lifes. That's not a good sign for the Northwestern St. team. John Lucas, Daniel Bobik, and Joey Graham combined to shoot 15-17 from beyond the 3pt arc.

"It was just uncanny" Guard John Lucas who had 23 points said. "The goal seemed huge tonight."

Coach Eddie Sutton had this to say about the 3 point barrage, "It was the most impressive shooting performance I've ever seen." Which is saying a lot since he's coached teams to over 750 victories. "But there's still some things we need to work on."

The Cowboys had 3 players that eclipsed 20. Lucas with 23, Bobik with 23, and Graham with a game high 25. JamesOn Curry started his Oklahoma State career off with a bang hitting two 3 pointers on route to scoring 9 points. Ivan McFarlin, and Aaron Pettway provided punch in the paint by scoring 6 and 8 respectively. Stephen Graham and Terrence Crawford rounded out the scoring with 8 and 2.

The Demons had a horrible night shooting, with only one player in double digits. Forward Clifton Lee had 10 on 2-10 shooting and 5-6 from the freethrow line.

The Cowboys next play the 23rd against Arkansas-Little Rock.

Well, being the dummy that I am I didn't save after the OU game, so I resimmed it and viola! OU wins the game. So the new recap.

    Solid
Sooners play well in 77-62 win
Guard Drew Lavender tries to beat Bakari Altheimer off the dribble

Taj Gray showed everyone in the Big Twelve that he'll be a force to be reckoned with. With 22 points, 10 coming from the foul line, Gray paced the Sooners to a 15 point victory.

"Yeah, Taj played great" Head coach Kelvin Sampson said after the game, " but he was the only one that did."

"But it is only the first game" Sampson later admitted.

JUCO transfer Terrell Everett had 2 big 3 pointers in the 2nd half to give OU some breathing room late in the game. He finished with 8 points.

Junior forward Kevin Bookout's struggle's seemed to be a continuation of last year. He scored 0 points on 0-3 from the field. "I tried not to force anything" Bookout said in the press conference. "I grabbed some rebounds and blocked some shots, Taj was doing everything tonight"

Drew Lavender also had a solid game with 15 points. Including 2 from long distance.

The Cal State Northridge scoring punch came from the paint. But it was a weak punch. Forwards Etoagwara Onyenegecha and Sal Vance tied for the team lead in points with 11 each.

Matador Head coach Bobby Braswell had this to say after the game. "They play suffocating defense. If there are teams better than this in the Big Twelve, I'd hate to play them."

OU doesn't play another game until the 1st of December when they will play Coppin State at the Lloyd Noble Center.

Cowboys struggle for the 76-67 win
Ivan McFarlin goes around the Trojan defender. Mcfarlin had 8 points.

The game was just out of grasp the entire game for the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans. They were always within 10 but could never get over the hump. That's good news for Cowboy fans. Joey Graham had an offnight by his standards, and Trojan guard Brandon Freeman scored 17 points to pester the Cowboy defense all day.

"We played bad" Coach Eddie Sutton said after the game, "Our defense was horrible, and we played soft. We'll work on it in practice."

John Lucas, OSU guard had another fantastic night shooting the ball, 8-10 from the field, and 2-3 from beyond the arc.

The Cowboys had many chances to break the game wide open. But the shots just wouldn't fall, Joey Graham, OSU Forward had 5 wide open 3's but couldn't connect. He finished with 19 points on the night, 5 coming from the charity stripe.

Aaron Pettway made the crowd erupt early in the 2nd half. After a blocked shot by Pettway in the paint, he raced down the floor to receive the alley-oop pass from freshman JamesOn Curry.

David Monds recieved his first minutes of the year, playing 5, and scoring 1 on a free throw.

                Unsung Hero
Larry Owens breaks out for 22 points in a thrilling 70-69 Oral Roberts victory
Ken Tutt hits the game winning shot with 24 seconds left

Larry Owens was the last thing the Northern Arizona defense was thinking about. So he burned them with 22 points. With everyone paying attention to Ken Tutt and Caleb Green, Owens told the rest of the Mid-Con to keep an eye on him too. Caleb Green still had a solid game though reaching a double double.

"Larry was great" Head Coach Scott Sutton said, "He picked up the slack."

Northern Arizona almost pulled off the minor upset. Almost. Steve Sir, Lumberjack forward cut through the Oral Roberts defense almost at will scoring 14 points.

"We need to work on our defense for sure" Sutton said. "The games are only going to get tougher.

Also helping the Lumberjacks stay in the game were Stephen Garnett with 13 points and Kelly Golob with 12.

Luke Spencer-Gardner in his first basketball action in over 2 years struggled finding his shot only scoring 4 points on 2-9 shooting and 0 assists.

It was the first time Northern Arizona has lost at their home floor in 12 games.

The Golden Eagles play again in 3 days when they travel to St. Louis to take on the Billikens.

Cowboys look strong after dissapointing game last week, beat Sam Houston State 69-50
Joey Graham goes up strong against the Bearkat defender, Graham had 28 points

The Cowboys drew some odd glances after last weeks close call. But Oklahoma State has wiped those looks off their faces after last nights 69-50 win against Sam Houston State. Once again Joey Graham led the charge scoring 28 points, and hitting 3 from beyond the arc.

"I felt good out there today" Joey Graham said in the lockeroom, "I felt I could take my guy every time I had the ball"

Supporting Graham were the two guards, John Lucas and JamesOn Curry. Curry scored a career high 10, and Lucas was perfect from the field in scoring his 11.

Ivan McFarlin's early season's trouble continued inside as he only had 5 points on 2-10 shooting.

"I just have to keep on fighting inside." A resilient Mcfarlin said. "The easy baskets will come to me." He finished with 8 boards on the night.

Sam Houston spread the scoring jam around real thin. With the highest Bearkat total coming at 11, and the 2nd highest at 10. Guard Othello Alford had the 11 points but it came on 15 shots from the field.

Sam Houston head coach Bob Marlin had this to say after the game, "Their defense pressured us into bad shots. It'd look like we'd have some daylight, but they block it out real quick."

Oral Roberts lose a tough one in St. Louis 61-57
Ken Tutt looking for the open man

Another close game for the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles, but this one had a much different result. After a game winning shot last week to beat Northern Arizona, the Golden Eagles came up just short.

Oral Roberts struggled all game shooting the ball. Ken Tutt had his 2nd straight subpar game shooting, and Larry Owens couldn't duplicate his stats from last week. Luke Spencer-Gardner however, had a promising game considering he didn't play all last year. Spencer-Gardner finished with 12 points.

Another bright spot for the Golden Eagles was forward Caleb Green, who struggled a little on the offensive side of the ball, but he more than made up for it with 13 rebounds. He finished with his 2nd straight double-double.

The Saint Louis Billikens' win was fueled by guard Reggie Bryant who finished with 12 points. Also having solid games for the Billikens were Anthony Drejaj with 8, and Izik Ohanon with the same amount.

"There's not much to worry about" Coach Scott Sutton said. "It's still non-conference, and this is a C-USA team, we still have some things we need to improve on."

The Golden Eagles next play on the 1st of December against Loyola of Illionis, who are 0-2.

John Lucas takes the ball to the rack against SMU, Lucas finished with 16 points.

After 3 games at home, it must have felt to get on the road. "Not quite", Eddie Sutton said, "You always want to play on the road, but its good for experience."

With 7 seniors the Cowboys have enough experience and it showed. Joey Graham was once again unstoppable scoring 24 points and pulling down 8 rebounds. John Lucas also had solid night, dropping in 16.

But the only player on the OSU squad without experience JamesOn Curry shined in his first collegiate road game, hitting two 3 pointers on route to scoring 10 points on the night.

Ivan Mcfarlin eclipsed double digits for the first time this year, by reaching 11 and also had a career high 5 blocks. Stephen Graham also scored 11 points on the night.

SMU was befuddled by the stingy OSU defense the entire game. Mustang leading scorer Bryan Hopkins who coming into the game was averaging 18 points, was held to 11 on 4-11 shooting.

OSU has a home game against Washington State on the 4th of December, then a big showdown against the Orange of Syracuse the 7th.

                        Fit to be tied
Tulsa loses a blowout to the Razorbacks, 93-46
Head coach John Phillips watches his team struggle.

Horrible. Terrible. Embarrasing. All three were adjectives used by Tulsa Golden Hurricanes head coach in his post game news conference after a 93-46 sheclacking by the hands of the Arkansas Razorbacks.

"It was one of the worst games I've ever seen", said Phillips, "There's going to some changes next week, I guarentee it."

Changes might not be enough for this team. With only 1 player reaching double figures, Oswaldo Gonzalez 10, this team has no pure shooter on their squad. "If we can't pass, we can't win" Coach Phillips said. "We couldn't pass today."

With an eyepopping 26 turnovers by Tulsa, the Golden Hurricanes never had the chance to get on a roll.

Arkansas on the other hand, had a career game from Junior guard Jonathon Modica who was hitting every shot he threw up there on route to 34 points. Including 8 three pointers.

While Modica did have the bulk of the Arkansas scoring, 3 other Razorbacks had double figures. Olu Famutimi 12, Ronnie Brewer 11, and Eric Ferguson 10.

"I'm ready for the next game" Coach Phillips said as he headed to the team bus.

And the next game is an interstate showdown against Oral Roberts.

OU has 6 in double figures in a 94-60 shelacking of Coppin State
Taj Gray deciding what to do, he decided right Gray had 16 points.

An easier opponent, an easier win for the Sooners. Everyone that played got into the scoring for the Sooners last night, with 6 of the 7 that saw court time scoring at least 12. The lone player that didn't touch double digits was Lawerence McKenezie who scored 7 points all on free throws.

The OU frontcourt dominated a small Coppin State team inside. The 3 post players (Taj Gray, Kevin Bookout, and Johnnie Gilbert) that saw time combined for 41 points and 15 rebounds.

But the guards were no slouches, led by Drew Lavender with 17 points, and Terrell Everett with 16. Jaison Williams also chipped in 13.

Coppin State's head was held above water in the first half by a courageous effort by forward Darron Bradley who scored 18 points. The other Coppin St. player in double figures was forward Nicholas King who had 11 points.

"This team is very, very good. We tried to shut down Bookout and Gray, but Lavender burned us, this is a top 25 team easily." Coppin St. head coach Ronald Mitchell said after the game.

                        We shall see.

OU's next game is the 8th of December at the homefloor of the Purdue Boilermakers.

                                Well, let me know.
