Kevin Bookout continues to progress, scoring 8 points on 4 shots and pulling down 6 rebounds.

Purdue had 4 in double figures but their high was only 13, coming from Gary Ware.

Prairie View (1-4) at Tulsa (2-3)

        Stunned!
Tulsa loses shocker to Panthers, 57-63.
Guard Adrian Simmons looks to make a pass

A potential problem at the beginning of the season is finally coming to a realization. The Tulsa Golden Hurricanes do not have a reliable 3 point shooter. Their best shooter is probably forward Guilherme Teichmann at 36%. But you can't have your tallest man on the court be your most reliable shooter too.

3 point shooting was not a problem for the Panthers of Prairie View. Marcus Thomas was perfect from the field making 4-4 and 2-2 from the field and beyond the arc. He also was 6-9 on free throws. He finished with 16 points. 3 other Panthers finished in double figures, Marlon Davis, Clyde Price, and Oscar Thompson, who all finished with 10.

Besides the 3 point shooting problems, Tulsa had no reliable shot from any of their guards at all. Seneca Collins, Chris Wallace and Deion James combined for 21 points on 7-20 shooting and 1-10 from beyond the arc.

The Golden Hurricanes were solid in the paint however, Teichmann, Anthony Price, and Jarius Glenn had 12, 13, and 10 points respectively.

Yusuf Baker was held scoreless, and to 2 rebounds in the loss.

"I'm embarrased for our school, our fans, and our players" Head Coach John Phillips said after the game, "No offense to Prairie View, but programs like Tulsa don't lose to programs like that."

Tulsa's next game is the 18th against the Shockers of Wichita St.

Duke star Redick goes off for 24 in the 87-71 win over OU.
        Redick heads for the hoop

Before the game OU coach Kelvin Sampson told his players, shut down Redick, shut down Duke. The Sooners didn't quite shut down Redick, and they definently didn't shut down Duke. Redick hit 6 3 pointers and forward Shavlik Randolph scored 18, and OU didn't stand a chance.

Strong supporting efforts by Sean Dockery, Daniel Ewing, and Shelden Williams who all had 11 points nailed the casket such for the Sooners. Williams also grabbed 14 rebounds for the Blue Devils.

OU's ill-fated march to victory was led by suprisingly successful Johnnie Gilbert who had possibly the best game of his career scoring 17 points. The key for Duke was shutting down OU's leading scorer Taj Gray who coming into the game was averaging 21 points, was held to only 5.

To add to the Sooner's struggle's OU's top 3 point shooter guard Drew Lavender not only just had 5 points, but was 0-8 from beyond the 3 point line.

"It's one of the toughest places to play in America" Sampson said after the game. "This team still has to get its chemistry down, but this was a good learning experience."

            Cha-Ching!
Cowboys leave Vegas with a 97-83 win
Joey Graham goes up amongst a crowd of Rebels

The Cowboys seem to have taken the loss to Syracuse in stride. Another fantastic game by guard John Lucas who had 27 points, and the Graham brothers combining for 34, was all Oklahoma State needed to take down the UNLV Runnin' Rebels.

Lucas was 8-12 from the field and 5-6 from the 3 point line, and 6-6 from the charity stripe. Joey Graham had another great game shooting 8-11 from the field.

JamesOn Curry also had a standout game, scoring 15 on 3 three pointers and 6-6 from the line.

The best play of the game was a John Lucas halfcourt alley-oop to guard Stephen Graham who finished with 13. Ivan Mcfarlin also finished in double figures with 10.

In the frantic pace that the game was in, UNLV kept it close due to a fantastic performance by forward Odarty Blankson who had 27 points and was 5-7 from beyond the arc. Guard Jerel Blassingame chipped in 13 points.

"We played horrible, horrible defense" Coach Eddie Sutton said after the game. "I was embarrased."

            Defense or not, a win's a win.

            Stung
Tulsa loses 4th straight to Shockers, 61-54
Wichita St center Paul Miller looks to score

John Phillips looked at the ceiling of the auditorium. There was nothing he could do. His Golden Hurricanes missed wide-open shot after wide-open shot. While Wichita St. was hitting tough shot left and right. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

Jarius Glenn once again was the only bright spot on the floor for the Golden Hurricanes. Hitting 6-10 shots for 12 points, and dishing off 6 assists.

"I know Jarius is frustrated, he has to be" Phillips said. "He'll never say it, but to play good night after night and get no support has to be frustrating."

The Golden Hurricanes did have 2 others in double figures in Seneca Collins with 10, and Oswaldo Gonzalez with 10 also.

The Shockers were led by Paul Miller's 11 and Randy Burns' 12. Forward Jamar Howard also was in double figures with 10.

"I know its tough to teach shooting, but I guess it's something I have to do" Phillips said after the game, after learning of Tulsa's 40% shooting night.

Tulsa next plays against Lamar on the 22nd of this month.
