      WEEK 5

      (1-2) VS (1-3)

      GAME PREVIEW

The matchup against the Buffs would mean the Season Opener at Martin Stadium in Pullman for the Cougars after 3 road games.

QB Jeff Tuell was listed as proable, but Coach Dodge decided with a upcoming bye week in Week 6 it was best to give his star QB another 2 weeks to heal, meaning RS SO Conner Halliday would start his 3rd straight game.

Even WSU was favored to win by a Field Goal and entered the game Avg 30 PPG against Colorado's 19.7 PPG, Colorado still ranked ahead of Washington State in Total Offense (1388 yds #28 vs 1350 #49), so Coach Dodge knew his team would need to play it's best to win.

      Keys to victory
Establish the run (Get 100 yds again)
Cut down on turnovers (no more INT's)
Stop the run (Hold them to under 100 yds)
Create a turnover (INT or Fumble)

      GAME RECAP

Colorado would win the toss and elect to recieve. With the rain pouring down, everyone assumed this game would be won on the ground, but the Buffs went straight to the air scoring on a 53 yd TD pass. WSU would get the ball and look to get C. Winston going early but instead the RS JR had to be helped off the field after just 1 carry for 9 yds. (Dislocated Elbow out 10 Weeks). So Halliday would go to the air completing 4/4 passes before throwing his 5th INT of the season.
The Defense however would hold to the Buffs to a FG to make it 10-0 going into the 2nd.

WSU would dominate the 2nd Quarter outscoring Colorado 17-0 as Fullback J. Byers scores his 1st TD of the year and Halliday finds R. Jiles for this 4th TD catch of the season and R. Parrish connect on a 21 yd FG. as WSU took the 17-10 lead into the locker room.

Colorado would bounce back in the 3rd Quarter forcing a fumble and picking off Halliday for a 2nd time (his 6th) as N. Hirschman throws a TD and runs in a TD to make it 24-17 going into the 3rd.

WSU however tie the game with 4 minutes to play as R. Mayfield scores from 3 yds out and with 16 seconds to play R. Parrish connects on a 40 yd FG to win the game!!!!!

      FINAL SCORE WSU-27 COLORADO-24

      KEY PLAYERS

      QB C. Halliday 20/42 317 yds 1 TD 2 INT
      RB R Mayfield-19 carries 71 yds (3.7 Avg) 1 TD
      WR I. Barton 9 rec 124 yds
      WR B. Ratliff 3 rec 73 yds
      WR R. Mack-3 rec 27 yds (3 drops)
      DE R. Long 2 sacks

      QB N. Hirschman-15/26 226 yds 2 TD, 5 carries 8 yds 1 TD
      RB Q. Hildreth 25 carries 89 yds

POST GAME COMMENTS BY COACH DODGE

Well that was a interesting game. It was like we were 2 totally different teams in the 1st Q/3rd Q and 2nd Q/4th Q. I am really proud of Freshman R. Mayfied. He played well stepping up for Winston, but with the bye week next week we will look at all of our options at Tailback including maybe getting some carries for Fullbacks T. Byers and A. Lintz.

(WITH THE LOSS, COLORADO DROPS TO 0-4 IN THE PAC-10)

UP NEXT RECRUITING UPDATES INCLUDING BOARD MEMEBER CREATED RECRUITS.

However something I noticed from last year's players I created everyone as 75's this year (73 last year) and nobody ends up seeming to get any PT so far. I am thinking about recreating the guys and making them like a 90 Overall so that they will actually play their Freshman and Soph years or at least be starters their Junior and Senior year.

It was a must win.. I have alot of tough games left on the schedule with Oregon,Stanford, and Washington all playing very well right now.

Just as I was about to have my offense at full strength with Tuell back, I lose Winston though

Thats just it. I don't know what to do about the recruits. Poor Dave McLaughlin is 3rd string and has a SO QB rated higher then him, so his only chance to start will be his Senior year. JeMarcus Green is the #6 WR, Mengal is the 3rd string RB at GT, ect..

I can't figure out if I should recreate the players with a 90 type rating or just let it play out how it is.

I would leave these ones how they are but maybe the next batch make 85s or so.

Looks like it'll be another up and down season

As for the recruits, I think if you make them 80's they'll be fine, especially with the in-season progression

hey Deuce (or anyone reallylol) you ever hear of (or read) the book "Death to the BCS: The definitive Case Against the Bowl Championship Series" ? I just got it today and read a little bit. You'd like it a lot.

I think that is the book I helped co-author. After watching Boise State not play for a National Title for the past 5 years. At least I know I the title.

How I just have to hope it becomes a #1 Best seller.

They're all for a 16 team playoff, which would take place over 4 weekends. 11 conference winners get automatic bids, 5 at large bids. And then for teams that don't make the playoffs, they'd still get to play in like bowl games. (i.e. Wisconsin didn't make the playoffs, but they were like 8-4, they'd still get to play in a bowl game). And I guess from expert predictions the playoff system would make about $600 million more than BCS does.

I haven't read it all yet (obviously, I just got it and its abotu 200 pages) but I can already tell it's a fantastic book.

Okay I think I have decided to recreate the recruits next year. With everyone rated a 85. I might not make you a starter in year 1 but atleast by your JR and SR you will.

So plan to go back and create all 3 of the McLaughling Brothers..

Oviously the chances of your player signing with the same school is slim, hopefully Hogs will get his dream and have JeMarcus Green sign with Arkansas again

So this is what I would like from each of you who have submitted a player or those of you who have submitted 2 or 3.

Please send me a PM with a bio about your player. What High School they played at, Playoff victories, State Championships. If you would like to write a interview style format where you talk about what school you sign at that would be awesome too.
