          Times Picayune? GENIUS!

I have always had a Times Pic logo saved for my Tulane dynasty but never got around to finding a use for it and eventually kind of forgot about it until I saw yours. Nice touch man and nice win! What a finish!

It was very surprising. Notre Dame stacked the box frequently in the game (which I expected, given my style of offense). They played press man coverage, but only had one safety back. Made it easy to check a WR into a streak or post route. Adam Barnes had a GREAT game passing the ball. Probably the best passing game of his career. He made great decisions at the line, which helped his receivers get open.

Up next is Virginia. It should be a lot easier to run the ball against the 'Hoos.

Thanks Geezy. I was surfing Google Images for headers when I came across the Times-Picayne pic. I HAD TO USE IT . It's clean, and gives my post-games a more authentic, newspaper feel. That what I aim for in my write-ups.

Thanks for following. It was a VERY fun game to play. Virginia's up next, and we'll look to keep the winning ways going. Speaking of winning, don't you have a Florida Gator team to go beat?

ACC voids Orange Bowl contract, agrees to deal with Sugar Bowl
Agreement will take effect this season; Orange Bowl will remain "non-contract"

              September 9, 2020
              2:30PM

Representatives of the Allstate Sugar Bowl announced today that they have reached an agreement with the Atlantic Coast Conference, that will send the ACC Champion to New Orleans every season. The news comes weeks after the ACC reportedly voided the final few years of its contract with the Discover Orange Bowl. The Sugar Bowl was seeking a new partner for its game after the Big 12 Conference dissolved this past summer. The bowl game previously pitted the Big 12 Champ against the SEC Champ. Now the Sugar Bowl will be an ACC-SEC match-up. ACC Commissioner John Swofford spoke about the new agreement at a press conference.

John Swofford: "I'm excited for our new partnership with the Sugar Bowl. This should boost our Bowl Season slate of games, as we match up with high-profile teams from the SEC. We're thankful for the many years we enjoyed with the Orange Bowl, but we're excited for this new chapter in our conference's history."

The ACC's contract with the Orange Bowl was set to expire in 2022, but the conference had tried for months to get out of it. When the Big 12 went under, they seized an opportunity. The Sugar Bowl looked for a replacement patner, and found one in the ACC. With the many ACC-SEC rivalry games played at season's end, the marriage was natural.

Without the ACC's partnership, the Orange Bowl now sits as a "non-contract" bowl. The Tostitos Fiesta Bowl has held this arrangement since 2015, when it lost its agreement with the Big 12. It has since been a match-up of two "at-large teams". In an effort to increase its profile, the Orange Bowl has plans to do the same. Orange Bowl representatives announced today that they too will be a "non-contract" bowl game, featuring 2 at-large teams.

Orange Bowl reps: "We are saddened by the end of our partnership with the Atlantic Coast Conference, but this is a move we've been expecting for a long time. We're excited for what lies ahead, and we're eager to position ourselves as one of college football's premier bowl games."

The agreements are set to take effect for the 2020 Bowl Season, at the end of this season. With the new Sugar Bowl agreement, here's how the BCS bowl games will look starting this season:

Rose Bowl: Big Ten vs. Pac-16
              Sugar Bowl: ACC vs. SEC
              Fiesta Bowl: at-large vs. at-large
              Orange Bowl: at-large vs. at-large

BCS National Championship: #1 vs. #2

Malik Bolt, Leon Sandcastle among nation's top recruits

                September 9, 2020
                2:30PM

With the 2020 college football season now underway, it's time to start paying attention to recruiting. This year there are two high-profile recruits to pay attention to, as they are some of the best to come out of the state of Florida in years. Malik Bolt and Leon Sandcastle are currently slated as two of the best at their position, and have numerous schools chasing them for their services.

Out of Miami, Malik Bolt currently sits as the #7 WR in the Class of 2020. The cousin of Olympic track star Usain Bolt, Malik Bolt has only been playing organized football for two years. But in those two years his profile has risen greatly due to his insane athleticism. He has blazing speed (ranked 96 by SPARQ), and his agility is through the charts (ranked 94). He's got great measurables, standing 6'3" and weighing 180 lbs, but his receiving skills need work. This is to be expected, however, given his lack of experience playing football. He's also a track athlete (following in the family footsteps), and has won numerous state championships. Most notably the 100m dash, the 200m dash, the 4x100m relay, and the Mile Run. His football team is off to a 3-0 start, and are in position to win their third straight state title. Bolt has received offers from Auburn, Georgia and Tulane; he has also garnered interest from Miami (FL), Texas and USC.

Malik Bolt talking to local media in Miami.

Further up the road in Jacksonville, Leon Sandcastle projects to be one of the nation's best RB recruits in decades. The 5'9", 190-lb athlete spends time on his football team as a running back & defensive back. He is the nephew of NFL great Deion Sanders, and it shows in his ability. Sandcastle has great speed (ranked 93 by SPARQ), good measurables, and great ball-skills for a high-schooler. The interesting tidbit: despite his size, he runs like a bowling ball. Think of Maurice Jones-Drew, only 15 years younger. He's 5'9", but he's no scat-back. Sandcastle has great power moves, headlined by his 85 Break Tackle & 84 Trucking. He doesn't have the greatest spin, but he's got a good juke move. He's also a decent pass-catcher out of the backfield (noted by his 72 Catching). In his spare time he is known as a good basketball player, and has spent the past two seasons playing PG for his high school team. Sandcastle has earned scholarship offers from Auburn, Florida, Houston, Colorado State & Tulane. He has also garnered interest from Alabama, Southern Miss, LSU, USC and Boise State.

Since I know you're playing NCAA 13, this is the story of my dynasty in that game. I'm UMASS in 2018, we are 99ovr, 95offense, 95defense and in the ACC, which we have one once heading into our third season there. We have had a heisman winner and are orange bowl victors. So,while not national champs, we are certainly on Tulane's level!

You built UMASS up that well in under 8 years? That's impressive. Took me almost a decade to build Tulane to this level!

How's your conference set up? I'm curious.

GAME PREVIEW -- After clinching a thrilling victory in South Bend two weeks ago, the Tulane Green Wave came home to rest on their laurels. They had a bye last week, which allowed them to figure out what went wrong against the Irish, and try to correct it going forward. While they were off, Notre Dame fell to 0-3 on the year, all three losses in conference play. Texas lost a stunner to Kent State, and Alabama slid a few spots as well. Florida State won last week (a slight victory over UCF), and now occupy the top spot in Group B. The Wave are on the field this week, playing host to the Virginia Cavaliers.

The 'Hoos don't bring a lot of talent to the table, as was evident in their 51-10 opening loss to Vanderbilt last week. They were pummeled on the ground, and Vandy's passing attack was efficient enough to keep UVA off-balance defensively. The Cavs do have a decent D-line, anchored by DTs Maurice Francis & Cedric Mirvil. Look for them to stack the box against a Tulane team that's ranked 2nd in the nation in rushing offense. With Virginia's rather weak secondary, expect QB Adam Barnes to exploit them, as he did against Notre Dame. UVA might keep it close early, but expect Tulane to walk away with this one handedly.
