ANDREW LUCK AND THE COLTS NEED TO UPSET THE PATS TO STAY ALIVE IN THE PLAYOFF RACE

The Pats will play on Sunday Night Football for the second straight week as they host the 6-8 Colts. Despite their record the Colts are still alive in the Wildcard hunt as well as their division. The Pats will be looking to run their record to 15-0. Rob Gronkowski will get his first start since his injury in week six. LeGarrette Blount is cleared for the game and is expected to start due to his recent success against the Colts.

    Players to Watch
For Indianapolis it’s all about Andrew Luck. Luck has thrown for 3,182 yards and 13 TDs to 7 interceptions thus far. He recently signed a long term contract to stay in Indy. With Trent Richardson injured look for the Colts to lean on Vick Ballard on the ground, though don’t expect them to put too much focus on their running game. T.Y. Hilton is back from an injury so look for Luck to try to get him going early. TE Colby Fleener and rookie receiver Shakim Landrum are Luck’s other preferred targets.

On Defense the Colts are led by outside linebacker Robert Mathis, who leads the team with five sacks and has 68 tackles on the season. Corner Vontae Davis leads the team with 7 interceptions. The Colts are without safety Rashad Johnson, their leading tackler.

    Tale of the Tape
    IND –Stat - NE
    Offense
    4551 - Tot – 6385
    3359 - Pass – 4810
    1192 - Rush – 1575
    21.0 - Points – 39.1
    Defense
    4887 - Tot – 2499
    3567 - Pass – 1456
    1320 - Rush – 1043
    326 - Points – 116

    Injury Report
IND – HB Trent Richardson, WR Vondray Farrell, LG Donald Thomas, C Jonotthan Harrison, LE Robert Ayers, FS Rashad Johnson
    NE – None

    Outlook
This will likely be the Patriots closest thing to a real test before they roll into the playoffs. Everyone in the Pats camp assures us they’re not concerned with a 16-0 regular season record but nobody believes them. Expect the Pats to win one of their closest games of the season.

LEGARRETTE BLOUNT POINTS TO THE CROWD AFTER ONE OF HIS TOUCHDOWNS

              Scoreboard1st2nd3rd4thFinal
              Indianapolis Colts [6-8]00303
              New England Patriots [14-0]72101644

              Blount Force Trauma

Led by LeGarrette Blount the Patriots dominated the Colts last night to push their record to 15-0. Blount had the second best game of his career yardage wise with 165 yards on 34 carries. He found the endzone a career-high five times. His performance brough back memories of his 24 carry 166 yard and four touchdown effort against Indianapolis in the 2013 playoffs.

“We knew LeGarrette had some great success against the Colts in the past and we were hopeful he could repeat that. They just didn't have an answer for him today. A great performance.” Tom Brady explained after the lopsided win.

Brady attempted just 18 passes, completing 12 of them for 180 yards. Brady also scored a rushing touchdown early in the fourth to put New England up 35-3. Brady yielded to Garoppolo after that score.

Blount's performance was the best by far for any Patriots runner this season. Many who though their lack of a run game would hurt them in the playoffs may have something else to consider now.

The Pats defense was stifling all day, not only keeping the Colts out of the endzone but also out of New England territory on all but 2 occasions. The Pats forced three fumbles, two by Andrew Luck, and recovered two of them. They also recorded a safety when Rob Ninkovich sacked Luck in his own endzone.

The Colts ran less than 30 plays on the day. Luck was just 6 of 10 for 69 yards. Vick Ballard was dropped in the backfield on several attempts and finished with 31 yards on 12 carries.

New England was also dominant on special teams with reserve linebacker Stevenson Sylvester laying brutal hits on Colts' return man T.Y. Hilton inside the 20 on three straight occasions, Hilton was lucky not to lose the ball.

Now 15-0 and set to host the 5-10 Jaguars next week it seems like the Patriots going 16-0 for the second time is merely a formality at this point, even if they were to rest some starters. The team and their fans are certainly hoping for a better result in their 19th game this time around.

Do what they did IRL this year vs. Buffalo in Week 17. They played everyone for a half, then benched everyone in the 3rd quarter. Just play careful.

I wouldn't have Brady in that game period. Everyone else fine, but win 19 is the important one, and a Brady-less Pats is something no one is afraid of in the playoffs.

honestly with Garoppolo in the game we should still beat Jacksonville so I'll probably do that. Might rest Gronk and Edelman some too. like i said some guys are pretty close to records so there's that too.
