Los Angeles Chargers 2018 Schedule DATE OPPONENT RESULT Sep 6 vs Denver Broncos (TNF) Sep 16 at San Francisco 49ers Sep 23 at Seattle Seahawks Sep 27 vs Oakland Raiders (TNF) Oct 8 vs Kansas City Chiefs (MNF) Oct 14 at Oakland Raiders Oct 21 vs Bye Week Oct 28 at Baltimore Ravens Nov 4 vs New England Patriots Nov 12 at Cleveland Browns (MNF) Nov 18 vs St. Louis Rams Nov 25 at Kansas City Chiefs Dec 2 vs Pittsburgh Steelers Dec 9 vs Arizona Cardinals Dec 16 vs Cincinnati Bengals Dec 23 at Tennessee Titans Dec 30 at Denver Broncos
Analysis: The Chargers' title defense begins and ends with a bang. The Bolts start the year with three tough games, first kicking off the 2018 season against their biggest AFC West rival before heading on the road for a Week 2 Superbowl rematch and a Week 3 trip to the Pacific Northwest and the 12th man. To finish the season, the Chargers again have back-to-back tough road games: an AFC Championship rematch in Tennessee before heading to Mile High to take on the Broncos. While those five games could make or break the Chargers' season, the biggest circle on everyone's calendar comes in Week 13 when Peyton Manning and the Pittsburgh Steelers come to town.Last edited by weddlesbeard; 07-15-2015, 06:41 AM.Comment

Analysis: There are few surprises on the Chargers' depth chart as the team returns almost the exact starting line-up that won the Lombardi trophy in 2017. The one exception is in the secondary, where third-year pro Stanley Bell takes over Jason Verrett's cornerback position and free agent acquisition Micah Hyde slots in at the nickel. Hyde's versatility as a nickel corner-safety hybrid has allowed the Chargers to use a 3-3-5 as their base defense rather than their traditional 3-4, though the team will likely use a lot of both personnel sets.
On offense, the biggest and only surprise is undrafted rookie Darrick Gonzalez who earned himself the second running back spot in camp and preseason. Gonzalez gives the Chargers an explosive home-run hitter in the backfield and is a good receiver out of the backfield, giving the Chargers a different skill set from what they have in Eddie Lacy and Cecil Faulk. The team had hoped second-year back Ronell Haynes would fill that role, but the former Ohio State Buckeye struggled in his rookie year and this preseason, and opens the season on the injured list. Though he has slid to third on the depth chart, we do not expect a huge dip in Cecil Faulk's carries. He still provides a good backup option and similar skill set to Lacy, and will remain the Chargers first option when closing out games in the fourth quarter.Comment

The Broncos, coming off a 10-6 season, hope to dethrone the Chargers in the AFC West this year. That task will largely fall on the shoulders of third-year pro Keon Bryant, who has had one of the best starts ever to a quarterback career. The Broncos passed on their former star Peyton Manning, entrusting Bryant to take the next step and bring them back to the Superbowl. Comment

Re: Supercharged | Pt. II (2018-): The Return of the L.A. Chargers
I am so impressed by how engulfed I am by this story. I asked you in your previous thread about sliders and graciously thank you for posting them here. What may I ask do you have these settings at: injury, fatigue, threshold and do you have heat seeker, ball hawk, switch/strafe assist on or off? I know that Madden 16 is coming soon but I would like to have a base set that I can incorporate and then adjust at the start of the next installment. Thank you so much in advance and bless you in your writings!Comment

Check out JaymeeAwesome's slider set - it's what I've been using as my base and every setting/slider that I haven't included in my intro post is because it hasn't changed from Jaymee's base set.Comment

Re: Supercharged | Pt. II (2018-): The Return of the L.A. Chargers
Chapter One (2018): Week 1
Eddie Lacy breaks the plane for the first ever touchdown at L.A. Stadium.
Welcome to Los Angeles
Chargers down Broncos in L.A. opener
AP - The City of Los Angeles has waited a long time for some football. And their new Chargers did not disappoint in the official opening of L.A. Stadium, outlasting the rival Denver Broncos 28-16 on Kickoff Night.
While the game was relatively close throughout, the Chargers never seemed to lose control or doubt they would end up on top. They brought their championship swagger and physicality with them from San Diego, beating up on the Broncos in order to pull away late.
The Bolts' defense set the tone early, knocking two of the Broncos' stars out of the game in the first quarter. Quarterback Keon Bryant left after being sacked by 2017 sack king Melvin Ingram, while tight end Julius Thomas left after being clocked over the middle by safety Josh Bush. Backup quarterback Systeek Corbett fared admirably, throwing for 250 yards. The Broncos' offense, however, was clearly outmatched by the speed, intensity and smack-you-in-the-mouth swagger of the Chargers' defense.
But perhaps the epitome of the Chargers' opening day win was running back Eddie Lacy. Lacy's game was not pretty, but got the job done. The Chargers' running game as a whole struggled against a talented Broncos' front seven. Twice in the first half, however, Lacy was able to plow his way into the endzone on third-and-goal for a 14-0 Chargers' lead. Cecil Faulk added a third third-down touchdown plunge in the fourth quarter to ultimately seal the victory.
With the win, the Chargers gave a statement that the AFC West is still their division to lose. The Broncos were at least able to hang with the defending champs and showed they are the probably the biggest challenger to the Chargers. But if Bryant is out long-term, it could be a short race for the division title.
The 1-0 Chargers now head north up the West Coast for a tough two game road trip through San Francisco and Seattle.

Re: Supercharged | Pt. II (2018-): The Return of the L.A. Chargers
Well this is embarrassing... I for some reason saved before advancing the week after the Broncos game, so all that Around the League stuff and the stats in the Week 2 preview are now moot. I've re-simmed the week (and saved!), and am now going back through and editing the above two posts, but if anyone is confused as to why they'll be different, that is why.

Re: Supercharged | Pt. II (2018-): The Return of the L.A. Chargers
Chapter One (2018): Week 2
Michael Crabtree somehow gets behind Brandon Flowers on fourth down for the go-ahead score in the final minute.
Disaster strikes
MVP Rivers leaves game in Chargers' loss at San Francisco
AP - The San Francisco 49ers got their revenge for a Superbowl loss seven months ago, beating the Los Angeles Chargers 20-16 in a thrilling back-and-forth game. But for the Chargers, their concern is much greater than losing bragging rights in the Superbowl rematch. Veteran quarterback and reigning league MVP Philip Rivers left the game with a lower-body injury late in the third quarter, limping noticeably. While the Chargers have not released the extent of the injury yet, Rivers did have to be carted to the locker room and was seen on crutches after the game.
As for the game itself, it was everything you would expect between reigning conference champions. Both defenses brought their speed and physicality to the game, while the offenses had their moments of glory and went shot for shot throughout the game. Each team had a big touchdown score in the second quarter. The Chargers struck first, when Rivers found rookie Justice Carter for a 55-yard touchdown. Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers, however, answered right back two plays later with a 41-yard touchdown of their own.
Otherwise, the defenses held firm. Both units bent but did not break, allowing yards but coming up big to keep points off the board. In the third quarter, the 49ers forced a fumble from rookie Darrick Gonzalez, erasing a likely score and keeping the game tied at ten.
The next Chargers' drive is when disaster struck. On second down, Rivers was sacked as he tried to roll to his right, and immediately hobbled to the sideline. On third-and-long, backup Glenn Ponder's first pass attempt was picked off.
Ponder did settle down in the fourth quarter, aided by good running from Eddie Lacy. After both teams traded field goals, Ponder led a scoring drive that put the Chargers up 16-13 with under two minutes remaining.
But then disaster struck again. On fourth-and-four with 45 seconds remaining, the Chargers' defense seemed more worried about Kaepernick's legs, leaving a QB spy and one-on-one coverage on the outside. They forgot about his arm, however, as Kaepernick took advantage of the single coverage, hitting Michael Crabtree on a 69-yard game winning score.
The Chargers almost came back themselves, bringing the ball within striking range. But as the clock hit zero, Justice Carter could not haul in a jump ball in the back of the endzone, watching the Bolts' record fall to 1-1.
Los Angeles must rebound quickly as they head to Seattle for another tough road game next week. But the real concern, obviously, is with their veteran quarterback. If he is out long-term, the Bolts' title defense already could be in jeopardy.
