Teofilo Outlaw splits the defense for a touchdown

Defense continues to step up as Aggies roll Huskies

Northern Illinois had an iffy season a year ago that was far from where their recent history suggested them to be, and the Huskies are still on the slow climb back up the American ladder and with teams improving in the American conference that could take longer for them, and by falling to 1-2 to start the season the hopes of a bowl bid slip further away.

Quarterback Landon Root may be the root of the problem (hah!). He hasn't been the playmaker that the coaching staff had hoped for, and the aerial offense sputtered behind his direction in this one, he completed just 11 of his 24 attempts and had 103 yards passing on the afternoon, it was far from ideal for the signal caller infront of a friendly crowd. Root did have a good showing on the ground with 62 yards on 5.1 yards per carry, but that isn't something that is easy to be excited for, he still has his struggles and while he didn't turn the ball over, he didn't give much hope for this season.

Tyler Kozlov picked up his first win in two tries against the Huskies, previously he was at Akron when his team lost to the Dekalb based program, now he fields the Aggies who now sit at an improbable 3-0 and are looking to the start of their Big 12 schedule with a whole lot of momentum behind themselves to boot.

Erich DiStefano had a good game, especially so for a freshman signal caller completing 15 of his 24 while tossing 179 yards and a pair of touchdowns, he didn't need to be tremendous for the Aggies to win, the defense saw to that, but he did enough to keep the offense on the field and the chains moving. Joining the freshman spree was Teofilo Outlaw who posted a career high 158 rushing yards and a lone touchdown which came on a huge 72 yard pitch in the second quarter.

This freshman revolution in Provo has been a tremendous turnaround as this team has already matched it's win total from a season ago and while their Big 12 schedule isn't exactly inviting, they did what they had to do, win out their easy part of the schedule and position themselves for a potential bowl birth this season, and it gives a lot of hope for the future.

"These boys are just freshman or sophomores, we have a few juniors and even fewer seniors on the field every Saturday, this team has a lot of youth and just imagine down the road the amount of development this team will receive. We've won our first three and while we can't pretend to believe that running the table is a possibility at this point, it's something we can look at in the future, especially with the players we have coming in."

Tyler Kozlov had a lot of reason to be optimistic that his players have a bright future ahead of themselves.

Yet looking at this one, it easily could've been much closer, the Huskies defense did a pretty solid job through the game of keeping the Aggies out of the end zone, but big plays including a good return gave the Aggies the opportunities for either short yardage or simply long touchdowns, looking alone at the Teofilo Outlaw touchdown run, it appeared they had the freshman stamped out in the backfield only to see him zip and weave through the defense for a tremendous score. That would be the second score of the day, the first a pass to Jonathon Saunders on a short route to put the first points on the board.

Spencer Brady was a brief highlight clip for the Huskes, the halfback only got a pair of carries on the afternoon but probably should've gotten more. His first going for a hard fought 10 yards, before he managed to break free for a 14 yard touchdown carry, the lone Huskie touchdown of the afternoon, and he looked extremely comfortable back there, but he wouldn't see the field again.

The Aggies got a big kick return following the touchdown and managed to push the ball downfield, getting into the red zone and on third and goal chose an option with quarterback Erich DiStefano keeping the ball and charging up field for the score. A 21-7 halftime lead would hold until late in the game where a busted up run turned into a play action that was zipped out to Marcus Mosely for the senior's first touchdown of the season.

"I want to get Mose more involved, he's a tremendous player and can be a difference maker, we may look to involve him as a receiver in some of our five or four wide sets that don't call for tight ends so we can feed him the ball some more, he is a big talent."

The Aggies improve to 3-0 on the season after their victory at Brigham Field in DeKalb, with their next matchup against an 0-3 Texas Longhorn squad that has some ugly losses to Maryland (35-45), USC (28-47) and UCF (26-56). The Longhorns look helpless and the Aggies, would love nothing more than to take a win over the storied program.

Re: The Legacy of Tyler Kozlov

      Week 3

The Gators manage to shrug off the Tide in overtime, while other teams such as the Hokies aren't so lucky. There were a few upsets, this week but the status quo held for several teams as those at the top look to separate themselves from the rest of the pack, and what is wrong with the Big 12 East?

Notre Dame has turned around it's fortunes in a big way from last season and have turned a corner this season, having a huge victory over Virginia Tech under their belts, they get to look forward to a potential big season, especially if they can run the table from this point on, the victory came over a Hokie squad favored by ten, to say it was an upset would be a bit of an understatement, especially after how badly the Irish played a year ago.

The Florida Gators hung on as the Tide rallied to score 10 in the last frame to shut out a suddenly hot Crimson Tide squad to score and keep the Tide from the end zone in the overtime frame, to improve with yet another victory and sending the Tide in a small fall down the polls, it was a gutcheck for the Tide who were coming off a big year last season and were hoping to continue their climb.

Ohio State put a thrashing on the Oklahoma Sooners who get their ugly loss of the season, after getting a pair of them last season and winning out what are the odds of that happening? It could be difficult with 4 teams in their division presently undefeated and finding themselves in fifth in their division with their lone loss, only Iowa State has a loss otherwise in the division. For the Big 12 East it's a completely different story, half the division is winless, while the other half hasn't looked all that much better, aside from Baylor, it looks like it could be Baylor's year to shine on that end, joining Utah State as the lone 3-0 programs in the conference thus far. Texas, Texas Tech and Kansas all sit with winless records, and West Virginia hasn't beaten a FBS program yet this season, a year after winning the Big 12. TCU and Baylor are the lone unbeatens on that side, but Baylor was nearly stunned this weekend by Southern Mississippi while TCU hasn't played anyone of importance yet, their matchup with Oklahoma this week could determine who will win this division, or at least give good insight, until the two teams clash in the final weekend of October.

The SEC had some ups and downs this week, while Texas A&M took an ugly in conference loss to the previously topped ranked Volunteeers, the Kentucky Wildcats managed to beat, actually rout their rivals in Louisville 21-49. The SEC at least can look forward to a potentially dominant conference run this season if everything continues to go their way.

Erich DiStefano lines up a beautiful pass that goes for a touchdown

        38 vs 14

Longhorns start promising but can't keep up in Logan

No one will ever be too keen on calling someone that has to play Oklahoma and Texas in back to back weeks a gift, but in this case the scheduling powers that be have offered the Utah State Aggies a tremendous reprieve. The Aggies received an 0-3 Longhorn squad that has looked absolutely pitiful to date losing to non-Power 5 squads in big ways and just looking less than powerful from the get go. Drawing the Sooners next week coming off of two losses in a game at Romney Field in Provo further boosts the luck that the Aggies have received to date, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

The Longhorns appeared ready to make this one into a game, early when their air raid offense posed a serious threat to this secondary which hasn't faced a competent passer yet this season through three, that all changed on Saturday but the results were the same, largely due to poor decision making on the offensive end joined by a pass rush of only three that favored the secondary by easing linebackers to help the short to mid range passing attack.

Sean Lawson was quick and methodical, with two drives bringing his Longhorns downfield deep into Utah State territory. Both coming after the Aggies opening drive yielded 7 on a long drive ending in a twenty yard pass to Jesse Gipson from Erich DiStefano. The first Longhorn drive ended disappointingly with a missed field goal, the first of three missed attempts by the Longhorns on Saturday, the second was a much better one, as Sean Lawson found Armanti Foreman who was one of the lone bright spots on this Longhorns offense on Saturday, for a long 32 yard touchdow. Edwards was off to the races and the score was tied, but the Aggies would go on a 31-0 run through the next two and a half quarters that would keep the Longhorns from ever seriously competing.

The scoring started as a trickle, a chipshot field goal after a good drive stalled deep in Longhorns territory, followed up by another missed Longhorns field goal after a very fast drive downfield. The Aggies would answer on a set of quick passes and one long throw to Cedric Wright, setting them up deep in Texas territory. Justen Harvey would take a screen and punch it in from three out to get a score in before halftime and a 17-7 lead for the Aggies rolling into the half.

That lead would grow wider earlier in the third when Sean Lawson made a bad read and the pass would be intercepted by Aaron Wade, the corner would knock over the corner and scamper the rest of the way untouched for his 30 yard touchdown. A commanding 24-7 lead would only continue to grow, with both teams trading back and fourths for a brief part of the third before the Aggies mounted yet another serious attack mixing their aerial and ground attacks to get into the red zone, with Erich DiStefano running an option keeper, freezing the linebackers with a stutter step and making his way into the end zone from 16 yards out and a 31-7 lead that would carry into the fourth.

The Aggies fans were loud and the contingent of Longhorn fans whom traveled in hopes of catching their team pick up that first win were leaving, most were out of the stadium by the time the Aggies were led back down the field for yet another touchdown, once again by the Freshman quarterback opting to keep the ball on a read option and punching it in from nine.

The Longhorns were looking to mount some kind of rally, if not for the victory, just for their own confidences as they moved on with their Big 12 schedule, and while their drive would come slowly, as it was all Saturday, they would manage to move the ball downfield and carrying the ball into the red zone and scoring a touchdown when Armanti Foreman caught a slant for a six yard score.

The Longhorns would recover the onside kick from a lackadasical Aggies return team that was already looking past their opponents having built up a 38-14 lead with just a minute to go, and the Longhorns seemed amped up by the lack of emotion the other team had been showing, and against their backups the Longhorns moved the ball downfield rapidly, and on the final play of the game, C.J. Horne reeled in the pass and was wide open on the fly, the junior wide out charged downfield but oddly leaped for the pylon and ended up clipping the outside of it as he went out of bounds, no touchdown score the Horns and the game ending unceremoniously.

The Aggies have opened up their season with a tremendous four game win streak and while their schedule has been extremely light thus far, they take on the other side of the Red River Rivalry in the Oklahoma Sooners next week. The Sooners will be coming off a loss to TCU this week and are just 1-2 on the season, if the Aggies aren't getting lucky with timing than I don't know what luck is!

"This is a statement victory for our boys. I know this was a winless team and we can easily overstate the value of beating a team that has yet to win one this season, but the Longhorns are a historically dominant program and for us to beat them, rout them is a tremendous step up for this program from just a season ago when we had absolutely nothing going for us. This team has come together in big ways and we now just need two wins in the final eight to earn a bowl birth. We've built ourselves a tremendous platform to grow from this season, it's only now up to us to show we deserve it and that we belong!"

          Week 4 Update

Eric Grant (HC) of the Idaho Vandals (SB)
          (2-1)(1-0) L 55-31 @ #5 Kansas State (2-0)
          453 OYPG (#33) 39 PPG
          499 DYPG (#115) 43.7 PAPG
Top Performer: Benjamin Watkins (WR) 5 Rec 176 Reyds 2 TD

Kansas State might've dodged a bullet. Jake Luton left the game in the second quarter of this contest and the offense just wasn't the same. Luton wouldn't return and this offense sputtered with a total of just ten completions, 5 coming in the first/second quarter from Luton, and the other five from the backup who needed two and a half quarters to get them, the offense chose to lean on it's ground attack and got a solid performance out of if, Mack (77 RuYds 1 TD) and Vaughn (86 RuYds 1 TD), each had solid afternoons against a staunt Wildcat defense, but Watkins receiving performance was what kept the Vandals remotely close in this one. Eric Grant can at least be proud of how hard and well his team fought the Wildcats, this could be a bright season for the Vandals.

Zach Mueller (HC) of the Rice Owls (CUSA)
          (1-3)(0-0) L 24-34 @ #7 Northwestern (4-0)
          393 OYPG (#84) 26.8 PPG
          419.3 DYPG (#80) 31.3 PAPG
Top Performer: Daniel Jones (QB) 9-25 159 PaYds 1 TD 8 Car 42 RuYds 1 TD

What a schedule the Rice Owls have and a tough start to the season is what they have to show for it, and down to their third string quarterback in this one only made matters worse, their third stringer coming in the fourth frame due to injuries. Jones had a bad afternoon in his first start, going for just a 36% completion rate but accumulating a decent 159 yards and a touchdown as the Rice Owls manaaged a shade over 250 yards through the airbut the Wildcats churned out 274 yards on the ground, which was easily the difference maker on Saturday.

John Valkyrie (HC) of the UL-Monroe Warhawks (SB)
          (2-0)(0-0) BYE
          509.5 OYPG (#11) 38 PPG
          347.5 DYPG (#27) 11 PAPG
          Top Performer:

Quinn Retney (HC) of the UMass Minutemen (AMER)
          (3-1)(0-0) W 28-9 @ Indiana (2-1)
          380.5 OYPG (#90) 25 PPG
          267 DYPG (#5) 12.5 PAPG
Top Performer: Andrew Verboys (QB) 11-15 138 PaYds 3 TD 22 RuYds

The Minutemen are on a roll to start the season and strong defense has been a key, so has the play of quarterback Andrew Verboys. Coach Retney's offense relies on a strong dose of ground game but as anyone can tell you, you cannot run or pass the ball 100% of the time, unlike last year, Verboys has been a terrific game manager in the mean time, making plays in the air with limited action in addition to making plays on the ground. While his running ability isn't remotely elite, he has been a boon to this offense an dhis play can be a big factor as to why they won. David Gray piled up 158 yards on the ground on 30 carries, the workhorse back just continues to churn out big yardage for the Minutemen.

Corey Warby (HC) of the Vanderbilt Commodores (SEC)
          (0-4)(0-2) L 24-63 @ Ole Miss (3-1)
          400.8 OYPG (#80) 26 PPG
          571.3 DYPG (#125) 46.8 PAPG
Top Performer: Ernest Stovall (QB) 15-27 214 PaYds 3 TD 2 INT 66 RuYds

Stovall returned to action against the Commodores southern rivals in Ole Miss but these Commodores were absolutely no match for the Rebels. Vanderbilt fell behind early after a deadlocked first frame to be outscored 17-56 the rest of the way. A troubling loss for the Commodores but at the same time these Rebels are a serious threat to win the SEC this season and starting out 3-0 in conference play is a big boon for that program. The Commodores weren't exactly favorites this season and there will be some bumps, but losses like this will always hurt a lot. The air raid has not been very successful for the Commodores so far this season.

Jamal Frazier (HC) of the Wyoming Cowboys (MWC)
          (0-3)(0-1) L 13-37 @ San Jose State (2-1)
          352 OYPG (#108) 17.3 PPG
          445.3 DYPG (#99) 35.3 PAPG
Top Performer: David Parrish (OLB) 15 Tackles 5 For loss 1.5 Sacks 1 INT

It's easy to write off the Cowboys this season after another ugly loss, but it's easy to forget that they have only played a third of the season to date and have faced some of the hardest teams they will face all year so far. The Cowboys drop this one in a bad fashion. Smith tossed for just 68 yards and an interception on 40% completion rate, while the ground game was farely successful, the lack of help even from a barely used pass attack would be too much for the Cowboys to overcome.

Tough start to the season for Rice, although we've hung in there with some good team. Hopefully the starting QB is back by the time conference play starts.

Happy to say this has hit 10K views!

Hopefully everyone that is reading this enjoys this as much as I do playing and reporting on it! Hopefully there's many more seasons left in the tank!

On that note, I'm gonna work on a few updates tonight, can't promise too much though, I'm tired and have another early morning for work tomorrow!

I'm a little surprised by Rice's struggles but getting your quarterback, back (I believe he comes back this week) should be a major boon for that offensive unit.

For Vandy, I saw the bad season coming. Just looking at the quarterback situation (sadly after the offer was already accepted), in the short term your best quarterback isn't well suited to the air raid, but your defense is capable of better, hopefully they turn it around and you can eke out a bowl birth!

                  Week 4 Recap

The Crimson Tide take care of the Georgia Bulldogs yet again, while USC falls against their instate rivals. Oklahoma is bested for the second straight time and Notre Dame stays perfect to open the season. All this and more, in this week of college football.

The Crimson Tide are continuing their resurgence efforts by beating the Georgia Bulldogs for their third victory of the season. The Tide started strong but a loss to the Gators knocked themselves a little off the course, but with a victory over a top 25 team, they find themselves right in the thick of things with a top four position.

USC on the other hand took a nose dive when they had an opportunity to keep themselves in the thick of the race. The Trojans took on the Cal Bears who were undefeated but also unranked into the young season. Either the Trojans looked right past their opposition or are simply overrated. Whatever the case may be, allowing 14 unanswered in the final frame of a tied game will always be a sharp shot to the gut.

The Big 12 picture got more clear, or more muddled depending on how you would like to look at it. The Horned Frogs picked up a victory while the Baylor Bears tumbled, the Horned Frogs battled the Oklahoma Sooners who caved late in the contest and fell to their Big 12 rivals to drop to 1-2 on the season. There are still four unbeaten teams in the Big 12 West, while the Horned Frogs sit atop their division as the only undefeated.

Notre Dame finished off NC State, a game where the Wolfpack rallied from deficits of 24 and 10 to tie the game on the final drive of regulation, only to squander it away by taking a bad first down sack and falling outside of their kickers range, and their attempted fourth down conversion would end harmlessly shy of the markers.

The big upset may come on the heels of the Georgia State Panthers, while Georgia suffered a defeat, the State program traveled out to Michigan and the Big House where they were twenty point underdogs. The Big House saw a big upset against Appalachian State years ago, and this field goal brought vivid memories of that upset, as the Wolverines suffer a loss against the Panthers on a game winning field goal to end regulation.

Erich Distefano is stopped a yard shy of the score as Aggies fall

                    34 vs #12 38

Sooners rally and stave off Aggies comeback bid to give Aggies first loss of the season

The early season run is over and it ended as heart breaking a way as possible, freshman quarterback Erich DiStefano was wrapped up and brought down inside of the one yard line with just four seconds left, the running clock would prove to best the Aggies offense and the game would be whistled over as the Aggies stared at the scoreboard in disbelief. Not to say the Aggies were favorites in this one, they weren't. Ten point underdogs despite a vastly better record, and the upset was nearly completed but an opportunistic Sooner group brought about the victory for Stoop's side.

The Aggies hit the Sooners with everything that got, the holes in the oppositions lineups were taken advantage of and hit for every ounce of advantage that the Aggies could yield from them. A 21-7 run through the first quarter and a half put the Aggies in excellent position to capitalize for yet another victory and the Aggies faithful were loud expressing their support for the program which was seemingly turning a leaf from where they had been just a year ago.

Than it all fell apart. The Sooners would rally and shut down the Aggies offense. Outscoring the home side 31-14 the rest of the way to escape with the victory. Not to say that it was an easy one for the Sooners, the Aggies did their share of damage to the opposition as well. Jernell Davis is considered to be one of the weakest starting quarterbacks in recent history that the Sooner's have trotted out to be undercenter and Davis appeared to be shaky early, throwing a pick six to Jontrell Rocquemore and completing under half of his passes through the first two frames.

He would manage to rebound and shake off the past two games in a big way, aided by halfback Marlin Harvey who had a tremendous game out of the backfield but was still oddly barely utilized despite showing an ability to carve up the opposition with ease. Harvey finished over the century mark and very nearly eclipsed that mark in the passing game as well accounting for 75 yards through the air. Harvey's three touchdowns were a tremendous boon to this offense. Especially such that his two late touchdowns gave the Sooners the lead and raised their lead to ten.

The final score for the Sooners seemingly put the game away but the Aggies got a little bit of magic, with Erich DiStefano being flushed out of the pocket, he found a wide open Jonathan Mitchell on a fly and tossed a brilliant pass that went cleanly to his wideout. The receiver caught it in stride and ran it in for the touchdown, but there was limited time and with how well the oppositions offense had been running Tyler Kozlov wanted the win. He went for two and Teofilo Outlaw would be smashed at the line, ending the two point conversion attempt.

The onside kick would get a lucky bounce and the Aggies would recover and with thirty seconds left they needed a touchdown, a field goal would yield a one point defeat due to the overly aggressive nature that Tyler Kozlov brought to the field. The Aggies looked poised to do just that when Erich DiStefano connected with Cedric Wright on a deep slant, the receiver couldn't shake his tackler and would be brought down at the two with five seconds to go, the hurry up offense came on and DiStefano who averaged 10 yards per carry decided to call his own number, the read option would be run but the Sooner's defense sniffed it out, catching DiStefano at the one and dragging him down shy of the endzone.

The clock ticked away as the quarterback laid on the ground, the loud stadium going quiet as the Aggies first loss became official, and the fans and players felt the stadium deflate. Quietly the Aggies pulled themselves from the field heading to the locker room while the Sooners celebrated a victory that very well could've saved their seasons.

Two mistakes is all that Jake Luton made on the afternoon and it would be enough to sink his team. After he threw for 6 touchdowns a second time this season, his team still managed to fall to the 4-1 Nevada Wolfpack. Nevada rallied from a 35-14 deficit to come back with 35 second half points to take care of business in Reno. The Wolfpack improve with yet anothe rwin while the Vandals slip to their second consecutive loss. The Vandals defense has been a problem area all season allowing 45 points per game.

The Wildcats were ten point favorites in this one but the Warhawks managed to beat the spread even if it meant losing the game as well. The Wildcats imrpoved to .500 on the season but needed a 21-3 second half run to do so, the Warhawks came out with a pair of touchdowns in the first half, while allowing just a field goal. An impressive blend of talent for the Warhawks who appeared on their way to a dominant victory over a Power 5 program, but the Wildcats didn't yield and sent everything that had the opposition and by scoring in the final fifteen seconds, they ended the deadlock and picked up a big victory, while the Warhawks fell for the first time in their young season.

Quinn Retney (HC) of the UMass Minutemen (AMER)

Top Performer: Tyson Harvey (WR) 4 Rec 82 ReYds 1 TD

A solid trio of rushing from Rufus Fagan, Andrew Verboys and David Gray with all three passing fifty yards (90-50-69) but not appearing at all dominant throughout were overcome by a career day from struggling quarterback Landon Root. This could be the victory that gets the Huskies on the right track, the Minutemen are vastly improved this season and this is a crucical victory for their season. The Minutemen suffer yet another tough loss and not a way they want to start their American league play with a loss here.

Corey Warby (HC) of the Vanderbilt Commodores (SEC)
                      (0-5)(0-2) L 21-35 @ Clemson (1-2)

Top Performer: Ernest Stovall (QB) 17-29 268 PaYds 3 TD 53 RuYds

Ernest Stovall seemingly calmed down in this one, tossing a turnover free game and the Commodores appeared to be right in the mix of things, but an unexpected 18 point rally by the Tigers in the final frame would give Clemson their first victory while the Commodores are still seeking their first. It's been a rough season to this point for the Commodores who are definitely still trying to cope with the new system in place for them.

Jamal Frazier (HC) of the Wyoming Cowboys (MWC)
                      (0-4)(0-2) L 28-35 vs #7 San Diego State (4-0)

Top Performer: Nico Evans (HB) 26 Car 174 RuYds 1 TD 3 Rec 32 ReYds 1 TD

The Cowboys had the undefeated defending national champions right where they wanted them. Their halfback was having a career day and they were dominating the ball, but in the final frame the Aztecs managed to stave off the adversity to clinch the victory and continue their undefeated streak. The Aztecs haven't lost in 18 straight, and that win streak stays alive today.

The Tigers score on an afternoon where the points came easy!

                            8 vs 48

                            A Southern Beatdown

                            Beaten back to reality.

The Aggies suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of their SEC opponent in the (3-2) Auburn Tigers in a rout that ended horribly for the Aggies on a Saturday where nothing went right. The home fans were treated to a tremendous victory over a seemingly strong opponent, the home team outperformed their opposition in every phase of the ball.

Offense, defense and special teams all yielded high points for the Tigers who shut the Aggies out for all but three minutes of the final frame to earn a victory, one that is very much deserved for these Tigers. The Auburn Tigers showed off just what they could do when they fire on all cylinders, the question is if they can play at that level year round.

That is yet to be seen, but what has been seen is these Tigers dominating their opponents. The yardage totals were similar with the Aggies being outgained by just forty-five points in this contest, the difference came in turnovers. 3 to 1. Not to mention most of the time the Aggies were playing in bad field position which gave the Tigers inversely shorter field situations and a better opportunity to score, and score they did.

Sean White tossed four touchdowns to just one interception while completing 65% of his passes for 258 yards, it wasn't an incredible performance, but White did everything his team needed him to and more, and the senior quarterback delivered. Leading the Tigers to 21 points off turnovers. The defense added a touchdown on a fumble recovery and a punt would be returned for a touchdown in this rout.

All sides of the ball delivered for the Tigers who leapt out to a tremendous 34-0 lead through the first three quarters, a missed extra point being the lone blemish on the Tigers plates this afternoon. The Aggies only touchdown came from a depleted offensive unit that actually had so few wide receivers on a long drive that Jontrell Rocquemore (FS) came in and caught a touchdown pass for the lone score of the afternoon.

Rocquemore is establishing himself as the MVP of this Aggies squad, doing everything this squad has requested of him and more, and while it's hard to be positive in a defeat such as this, Rocquemore had an interception, a touchdown reception and eight tackles on an afternoon where there wasn't much to celebrate.

Erich DiStefano looked like a freshman, completing 15-30 passes for 169 yards with no scores, pulled from the game once it was out of reach, Theo Peterson connected with Rocquemore for the lone Aggie touchdown of the afternoon. Justen Hervey finished with just 40 yards on the ground as the offensive backfield took a committee approach of five different players gaining positive yardage to account for all 117 of the Aggies yards.

The Aggies fall to 4-2 on the season and will have two weeks to rest and recover for a difficult slate to follow as they face the stiff Big 12 competition in the coming weeks. For now the Aggies will try to put this behind them, continue to dominate in the recruiting phase of the game and prepare for their matchup against the ranked Colorado State Rams.

                              Week 6 Update

Eric Grant (HC) of the Idaho Vandals (SB)
                              (2-3)(1-2) L 19-35 vs San Jose State (3-2)
                              462.4 OYPG (#23) 35.6 PPG
                              463.3 DYPG (#111) 43 PAPG
Top Performer: Watkins (WR) 10 Rec 131 ReYds 1 TD

San Jose State improves to 2-0 in the Mountain West and showed absolutely no hesitation in their victory over the opposing side. The Spartans piled up 21 in the second frame which was more than enough to stave off a late rally attempt. Jake Luton left this one in the first quarter and it's unlcear when he will return, Vandal fans will hope he can be back on the field in time for next week but details are sporadic.

Zach Mueller (HC) of the Rice Owls (CUSA)
                              (2-3)(1-0) W 31-21 vs Florida International (0-5)
                              390.6 OYPG (#83) 27.6 PPG
                              392.8 DYPG (#63) 29.2 PAPG
Top Performer: Johnson (WR) 12 Rec 149 ReYds 4 TD

The Owls start off their Conference USA schedule with a victory and their wideout had a tremendous game in doing so with 149 yards through the air and four touchdowns to go through it, the performance was masterful and helped get the Owls back on track after a rough start.

John Valkyrie (HC) of the UL-Monroe Warhawks (SB)
                              (2-1)(0-0) L 28-29 vs South Alabama (3-2)
                              431.8 OYPG (#32) 30.3 PPG
                              377.5 DYPG (#45) 18.8 PAPG
Top Performer: Anthony Monken (QB) 18-31 246 PaYds 4 TD 55 RuYds

Anthony Monken once more strung together a terrific game but it wouldn't be enough to boast a victory on the week. Allowing 12 points in the final frame would knock the Warhawks out for good, despite scoring a touchdown in every quarter, the burst in the final quarter would prove to be enough.

Quinn Retney (HC) of the UMass Minutemen (AMER)
                              (3-3)(0-2) L 21-28 @ #12 Wake Forest (5-0)
                              375.2 OYPG (#93) 23.7 PPG
                              338.8 DYPG (#14) 17.8 PAPG
Top Performer: David Gray (HB) 23 Carries 115 RuYds 1 TD

The Minutemen ran out to a 14-0 lead on the undefeated Demon Deacons but couldn't hold onto it, the opposition managed to work their way into the game. The Minutemen were blanked in the second half and despite their ground attack churning out the clock, a late touchdown pass set the Demon Deacons up for victory.

Corey Warby (HC) of the Vanderbilt Commodores (SEC)
                              (0-5)(0-2) L 28-31 @ Missouri Tigers (3-1)
                              403.8 OYPG (#74) 25.5 PPG
                              528.8 DYPG (#125) 42.2 PAPG
Top Performer: Hutchinson (QB) 20-38 312 PaYds 2 TD 19 RuYds

Hutchinson came in relief of Ernest Stovall and had a solid game. His performance wasn't awe inspiring but the game was held together by his solid play, his more passing oriented attack suited the air raid style better.

Jamal Frazier (HC) of the Wyoming Cowboys (MWC)
                              (1-4)(0-2) W 28-21 @ Buffalo Bulls
                              375 OYPG (#95) 21.6 PPG
                              434.8 DYPG (#97) 32.4 PAPG
Top Performer: Nick Smith (QB) 8-9 76 PaYds 2 TD 120 RuYds 1 TD

The first victory of the season finally came for the Cowboys who had to battle the winless Buffalo Bulls until the bitter end to emerge victorious and finally add a tally to their win total. This is despite a tremendous performance by Troy Flutie who nearly had 300 passing yards on 66% completion. The Cowboys rallied in the third and scored enough to stave off the Bulls who scored late but couldn't recover an onside to keep themselves in the game.
