Boom! What a way to start the Moore era at Colorado State, beating a rival in overtime. Looking forward to seeing how the season plays out, and that all important recruiting class to bring 'your' guys in!

Thanks for following/commenting. It was a big win. This team has talent and young talent on the offensive side, in fact I only have 4 Seniors on the Offensive side of the ball, leaving my only need area is QB.

On the Defensive side of the ball, I have 6 Seniors, but again only 4 start so that will be where I spend the bulk of my recruiting points this season. I probably will limit my class to 15-17 players, with my focus really building the team through local 3* type talent as CSU's prestige is currently only at 3*

RAMS IMPROVE TO 2-0!! COUGARS FALL TO 0-3

It was a homecoming of sorts for Coach Moore as Colorado State headed north to Pullman Washington located less then 2 hours from Moore's hometown of Prosser.

Coming off a 51 point performance against instate rival Colorado, Moore's newly installed Boise State style playbook made quick work of the Cougars Defense which was coming off a (66-28) loss to the Broncos in Week 2.

        GAME RECAP

For Colorado State this was a game right of the movie "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly"

The Good was QB C. Hill and the Ram's Offense in the 1st half.

The Bad was the Ram's Defense in the 3rd Quarter.

The Ugly was the amount of turnovers created by the Ram's duo of QB's.

CSU opened up the game with 2-1st Quarter TD's, first on a 2 yd TD run by backup SR RB C. Jackson and then a 53 yd bomb to QB turned WR B. Baker to make it (14-0).

The Rams extended the lead to (35-3) at the half, with C. Hill throwing 2 more TD's (both to C. Wright) well backup QB A. Clayton lined up at RB in a goaline set to take the handoff and score from 5 yds out.

Hill would end the half 12 of 18 with 191 yds and 3 TDs.

In the 3rd Quarter, Hill would go 3/3 but the problem was not a single pass was caught by a teammate. Hill's 3 INT would lead to WSU scoring 3 TD's to make it (35-21) as we head into the 4th.

With Hill on the sideline, RS SO A. Crayton would take over at QB and come out firing throwing back to back TD's to D. Flanagan (20 yds and 18 yds) to put the Rams up (49-21) with 7 minutes to play. That's were things go Ugly yet again.

On the 3rd series, Crayton's 1st pass attempt is picked off. On the Rams next series, Crayton fumbles the ball after a 19 yd gain on the ground and then with 3 minutes to play Crayton is forced to go to the air on a 3rd and 19 play after taking a 9 yd loss on a sack, and once again the Cougars "D" is in the right place at the right time as they pick off yet another INT.

This time the turnover leads to a score as QB R. Tate completes his 60th pass attempt of the game with a 42 yd bomb to R. Hall to make it (49-31) with 45 seconds to play

With both QB's having 3 turnovers apiece, Coach Moore has seen enough lines up the team in the wildcat with RB C. DeAngelis taking the final 2 snaps of the game. FINAL SCORE CSU-49 WSU-31

        KEY PLAYERS
        QB C. Hill-12/21 191 yds 3 TD 3 INT
        QB A. Crayton 14/24 196 yds 2 TD 2 INT, 28 yds rushing 1 TD, 1 Fumble
        RB C. DeAngelis-32 carries 127 yds
        WR B. Baker-7 rec 136 yds 1 TD
        TE T. Martin-6 rec 62
        WR C. Wright 5 rec 56 yds 2 TD
        WR D. Flanagan-5 rec 90 yds 2 TD

        QB R. Tate-30/60 426 yds 3 TD 2 INT

Coach Moore "Honestly I am not sure what to think. Obviously I am happy we came away with the win and there were things we did well on both sides of the ball, but that was just ugly. 6 turnovers!!! I would hate to see what kind of pints we could've put on the scoreboard minus those TO's. I also am really proud of our Defense in regards to stopping the run. I mean WSU isn't going to run much as it is, evidence of Tate's 60 pass attempts. but to limit them to just 31 yds on 9 carrries, I felt like was still a very solid effort and our secondary did manage 2 INT as well so I guess you can say that helps the turnover difference a little."

WITH THE WIN, COLORADO STATE WILL RETURN BACK TO FORT COLLINS TO TAKE ON (1-2) MISSOURI

Even the move to Colorado couldn't get rid of Coach Moore's teams' turnover bug. Hopefully it can turn around against Missouri or I fear, CSU might be leaving that game with their first L....Good Luck!

RAMS CONTINUE TO OVERCOME TURNOVERS AS THEY IMPROVE TO 3-0!!

If you polled 100 people and asked them to guess the record of a college football team with 16 turnovers in 3 games, the answer 99.9% of the time should be 0-3. But not if your the Colorado State Rams.

Despite 10 turnover in their first 2 games, CSU came into their Week 4 matchup with Missouri averaging a NCAA best 50 PPG. Well the Tigers came in averaging just 22.

              GAME RECAP
Missouri won the toss and elected to kick. Colorado State made them pay as C. Hill completes 6 of 6 pass's on the 1st series including a 14 yd TD to C. Wright to open up the game (7-0).

The Tigers would try and answer back but their 12 play 72 yd drive would end in a 21 yd FG to make it (7-3).

Hill coming off 3-2nd half INT's against WSU however would remain perfect yet again completing 5/5 pass's before handing off to C. DeAnglis for a 1 yd TD run to make it (14-3) with less then a minute to play in the 1st.

Missouri however answer backs with a TD of their own as L. Tillman scores from 4 yds out to make it (14-10) as we head to the 2nd.

The 2nd Quarter was all Hill and all Rams as Hill completes 8/14 including 2 more TD's to give CSU the (28-10) lead at the half.

Hill would finish the half 19/25 for 288 yds and 3 TD.

In the 3rd Quarter, the wheels however would start to fall off. Hill "Jekyll" in the 1st half, becomes "Mr Hyde" in the 2nd half. Hill completes just 6 of 13 pass's and unless you count the 5 INT's then he was was really 11/13 :o Not all was lost though, as Hill did manage to squeeze in 2 TD's in those 6 completions to set a school record for 5 TD's in a game as CSU takes a (49-10) lead into the 4th.

Again Coach Moore has seen enough of his SR QB, but sadly RS SO A. Crayton doesn't fair much better. Crayton's first series ends in a fumble, the Ram's 6th turnover of the day which leads to a Tigers score as C. Garrett returns it 61 yds for the score (49-17). After a 3 and out, Missouri quickly adds another score to make it (49-24) with less then a minute to play. Despite being down by 25, Missouri's HC Barry Odom attempts a onside kick but the Rams recover. Most coaches would probably down the ball, but the to be honest the onside attempt sorta pissed Coach Moore off, so after a 16 yd gain by backup T. Gaines instead of a kneel down to end the game, Moore calls in a pass play to A. Crayton who delivers a perfect strike to M. Robinson for the TD. FINAL SCORE CSU-56 MIZZOU-24

              KEY STATS
              QB C. Hill-26/38 438 yds 5 TD 5 INT
              QB A. Clayton 1/2 26 yds 1 TD
              RB C. DeAngelis-24 carries 134 yds 2 TD
              WR C. Wright-7 rec 105 yds 3 TD
              WR B. Baker-7 rec 125 yds 2 TD
              TE T. Martin-5 rec 110 yds
              WR D. Flanagan-4 rec 66 yds

WITH THE VICTORY CSU IS NOW 3-0 BUT THAT PERECT RECORD WILL BE PUT TO IT'S BIGGEST TEST IN WEEK 5 AS THEY TAKE ON #21 (3-0) IOWA

RAMS FALL SHORT IN TOP-25 BATTLE

Turnovers have plagued the Rams all season and going into the game Coach Moore knew if his team had any chance of pulling off the upset over #21 Iowa and move to a perfect 4-0 they would need to win the turnover battle.

                    GAME RECAP

Iowa won the toss and elected to kick, putting the pressure on the Ram's Offense early. SR C. Hill would lead his team onto the field for the first series and complete 4/6 pass's including a 28 yd TD to B. Baker to give CSU the lead (7-0).

Iowa would answer back though with a TD of their own as N. Stanley hooks up with T. Akinribabe on a 14 yd strike to make it (7-7).

Well Hill looked sharp in series #1, he didn't so much in series #2 as he throws his 13th INT of the season. The Ram's "D" however would step up forcing a 3 and out to get the ball right back. Hill came right back out doing what gunslingers do, firing passing down field completing 4/4 including a 40 yd bomb to Baker to set up a 1st and goal. After back to back runs with minimal gain, Hill would go to the air and fire a strike to C. Wright in the endzone, but the ball would bounce off Wright's hands and into the Hawkeye SS.

Iowa dodging a bullet yet again made the most of it, using 12 plays to go 80 yds to pay dirt as Stanley finds Akinribade on another TD pass. (14-7) with 4:13 to play in the half. Colorado again would move the ball effectively both on the ground and in the air as Hill completes 3/3 pass's before a sack, incomplete pass and failed run leaves the Rams to settle for a 42 yd FG by P. Love (14-10) with 2:39 to play.

Iowa looking to put more points on the scoreboard did just that as A. Taylor scores from 3yds out to make it (21-10) with 52 seconds to play.

Not wanting to go into the half trailing by 2 scores, K-Moore calls in the play to Hill. "Fight Song", it's a empty backfield with RB C. DeAngelis going out wide. Hill drops back scans the field and see's TE T. Martin wide open downfield, but is he? No right as Hill fires, the Iowa MLB jumps at least a good 40 ft in the air and snags the ball. It's Hill's 15th INT of the year, in just 4 games... That's right 4, and yes it's not a typo.. 15!!!!

Coach Moore has seen enough, as the Rams head to the locker room hoping things will be different in the 2nd half.

Iow would open the 2nd half with the ball, and quickly add to their lead to make it (28-10), but with Hill on the sideline with his helmet off, it's RS SO A. Crayton leading the comeback and Crayton does just that throwing TD's on back to back series to Martin to pull the game within a score (28-24) as we head to the 4th.

But after completing 9/10, Crayton's struggles appear out of no where. First it's a incomplete pass, then it's a dropped pass, then it's a 9 yd sack. The "D" rallies though and get's the ball back. Again Crayton fails to in his first attempt. Then after a 7 yd keeper, C. DeAngelis is stopped on a 2 yd loss to set up 3rd and 5. Crayton takes the snap and rolls right and fires as Martin makes his cut at the 1st down line. The ball is caught, but a monster hit on Martin jars the ball loose. Incomplete pass, the Rams are forced to punt.

With 4 minutes to play, Iowa has a chance to make this a 2 score game, but after moving the ball 77 yds chewing up almost 3 minutes of the clock they are forced to settle for a 29 yd FG attempt. The kick is up and wide right.. It's CSU's ball with 1:04 to play down (28-24). Out of timeouts, Crayton is put into his biggest challenge yet and in his first 2 snaps he looks to deliver. Play #1, Crayton finds Flanagan on a 25 yd pass over the middle, as CSU goes no huddle, Play #2 Crayton hits B. Davis on a 19 yd gain as they hurry to the line now with just 47 seconds to play, Crayton drops back scans the field finds no one open and takes off. A great block on the outside by Baker sets up a 14 yd gain, as Crayton steps out of bounds right before getting hit. Now with just 33 seconds to play, CSU lines up in a 5 WR set. Crayton slides back into a shotgun formation, K-Moore calls in the play, Crayton signals the play to the WR's. It's 5 Verts. Crayton is going to try and end it right here right now and he does with INT #4 in the game. FINAL SCORE IOWA-28 CSU-24

                    KEY PLAYERS
                    QB C. Hill-10/18 166 yds 1 TD 3 INT
                    QB A. Crayton-12/18 228 yds 2 TD 1 INT.
                    RB C. DeAngelis-21 carries 106 yds
                    WR B. Baker-12 catches 243 yds 1 TD
                    TE T. Martin-4 rec 58 yds 2 TD

UP NEXT CSU TRAVELS TO AUSTIN TO TAKE ON THE #3 (4-0) LONGHORNS OF TEXAS.

It's funny you asked that, cause that is going to be part of my headline. Hill is done.. Crayton is the future, so the future might as well start now. His speed and running abilities will allow me to switch up my playbook some and hopefully cut down on the turnovers. Hill has a cannon and I think could be a good QB, but for some reason, I have bad luck playing with him. It doesn't help that my WR's don't have the best hands so i would say 1/3 of his 15 TD's are not all 100% his fault, and we all know how freaky some MLB's can be sometimes with slants over the middle of the field.

                          RAM'S PULL OFF TOP-25 SHOCKER!!!!

Coming off their first loss of the season as a result of 4 more turnovers, Coach Moore finally pulled the trigger on who his starting QB would be moving forward, as RS SR Collin Hill (a 2 year starter) heads to the bench in favor of RS SO Anthony Clayton.

                          Coach Moore
"I appreciate the effort that Collin gave us, despite his higher # of INT's he still managed to lead us to 3 big wins which surpassed last year's 2, but in the end we felt moving forward for us to have a chance and becoming bowl eligible we need to cut down on turnovers, and with Anthony now running the show we have the ability to switch up the offense and utilize his ability to get outside the pocket and make plays"
                          GAME RECAP

Colorado State won the toss and elected to kick, so they could have the ball to start the 2nd half.

Texas would show the nation just why they were the #3 team in the nation with a 4 play 80 yd drive capped off by a 3 yd run by K. Porter to take the early (7-0) lead.

Colorado State however seemed to be playing with a higher level of energy and excitement as A. Crayton (A.C.) leads to team on a 12 play 82 yd drive of their own including a 7 yd TD to TE T. Martin making it (7-7).

After several series that saw back to back punts, JR CB Matt Green comes up with a huge INT inside the 20 to stop the Longhorns short of the endzone yet again.

Switching things up, the Rams go with a Wildcat formation that see's C. DeAngelis behind center and A.C. going out wide to start but then goes in motion. The defense bites and following A.C. as they look for the trick play, but instead DeAngelis takes the direct snap 86 yds to paydirt to put CSU up (14-7) as the first quarter comes to an end.

The Longhorns however rally back behind a solid rushing attack, as RB C. Witherspoon takes a quick toss 9 yds for the score (14-14).

CSU however was fired up as the offense comes back out and goes 88 yds on 14 plays to retake the lead as A.C. keeps the ball on dives in from 2 yds out to give his team the (21-14) lead with 1:07 to play in the half.

Not wanting to trail at the half, Coach Strong tries to get his team down field in a hurry but after back to back completions, the drive stalls out as Texas is forced to settle for a 42 yd FG (21-17).

Still fired up with taking a 1st half lead into the locker room against the #3 team in the nation, Colorado State comes out firing on all cylinders on the opening drive as A.C. completes 4 of 4 , well also running for a 11 yd 1st down to set up a 1st and goal from the 4. 2 players later DeAngelis powers his way in from 2 yds out to make it (28-17) which is where it stayed for the rest of the quarter.

Entering the 4th Quarter, the Rams who entered the game with last in the nation in turnovers, had yet to have one and with a 11 point lead, Coach Moore wasn't about to put his QB in a position to possibly throw one, so instead of using his arm, A.C. used his feet picking up 39 more yds including a 2 yd score to make it (35-17).

Trailing now by 3 scores, Texas was filling the pressure and it showed as Q. Thomas fails to convert a much needed 1st down, as the Longhorns are forced punt.

Again the Rams come out running, looking to take as much time off the clock well also playing things safe. With 8 straight runs, though Texas finally started to load the box, setting up the Broncos for a perfect opportunity to go play action. The play worked to perfection as Crayton hit's back up TE S. Romero on a 12 yd strike for the score (42-17), with 2:28 to play.

The Longhorns would manage to put more points on the board just before the buzzer as Witherspoon scores his 2nd rushing TD of the day from 2 yds out. Texas would then go for 2pt and convert. FINAL SCORE CSU-42 TEXAS-25

After the game, the sideline reporter caught up to QB A. Crayton..

Reporter-A.C. tell us how you feel?

A.C.- That was amazing. My first career start against #3 Texas and to come out with a win. I couldn't have asked for anything better.

Reporter-You scored 4 touchdowns today, 2 with your arm and 2 with your feet. Do you feel that your abilities as a dual threat make you a better fit for Coach Moore's offense then C. Hill, or what was the reason for your success today.

A.C.-Colin is a great QB and has a cannon for a arm, but Coach K. had alot of sucess the past 2 years with Luke Collins running his offense and I feel like my abilities better match what he can do as well.

Reporter-Well seems like Collins and Hill have alot in common as well because both QB's throw alot of INT's. You also had 3 INT's during the first 4 games as well as a couple fumbles, yet today the team came away without a single T.O. How well do you think you can keep that streak going?

A.C.. Turnovers apart of the game, sometimes bad breaks come our way, but I believe I can learn from those mistakes and make myself a better player.

Reporter- You just beat the #3 team in the country on the road. It appears things won't get any easier as you take on a undefeated (4-0) Nebraska team. What are you chances you can repeat pull off another major upset?

A.C.- We are the #1 scoring offense in the nation , I feel we can beat anyone anywhere. So Cornhuskers, be ready to get shucked....

ARE THE RAMS A TOP-25 PROGRAM???

After a 3-0 start, Colorado State quickly moved up from their pre-season rank of being one of the worst teams in the country to a program to someone who sportswriters were starting to take notice. The loss to Top-25 Iowa was a setback, but the win over #3 Texas has CSU receiving votes for the Top-25 poll.

Now with a matchup with the new #3 team in the nation (4-0) Nebraska, it was time for the Ram's to shock the nation yet again and show them they are Top-25 worthy..

                            GAME RECAP
Once again CSU won the toss and elected to kick. Nebraska answered with the first points of the game (7-0), but Colorado State answers back on 1 play as Clayton goes deep to C. Wright for a 77 yd TD bomb. (7-7)

Nebraska trying to appear unfazed answers right back with their own 2 play drive as D. Thomas takes a 62 yd pass from M. Gordon to the house. (14-7).

Leaving some to wonder if either team's defense even showed. That however was quickly answered by both teams as we then went 7 minutes with a score, with the Rams having to settle for a 26 yd FG (14-10).

The Cornhuskers would add another score in the 2nd Quarter as Gordon hits R. Hester on a 7 yd pass to make it (21-10), but with 1:40 to play in the half, Clayton finds. B. Baker on a slant for the 4 yd score to make it (21-17).

                            Coach Moore
"Getting that score before the half was a huge "MO" play for us, especially being we get the ball to start the 2nd half"
Moore was correct in his assessment as Colorado State opens the 2nd half with TD as Clayton hits C. Wright on a 1 yd strike (24-21). Then after a 3 and out, RB C. DeAngelis adds to the lead with a 9yd run to make it (31-21), but the Rams were not done as the Defense comes up with a huge fumble recovery to stop yet another drive, setting up Clayton for another score this time with his feet as he keeps it and scrambles in from 1 yd out to make it (38-21).

The Cornhuskers could see the writing on the wall, but they were not going to go away quietly as M. Gordon shows he can also move with the ball scoring from 3 yds out to make it (38-28) as we head to the 4th.

Nebraska then opened up the 4th with a huge stop on 3rd and 4 to leave CSU to settle for a 24 yd FG (41-28), but the offense would fail to produce a 1st down leaving the a tired "D" to step up and hold the Rams from putting the game away. Again the Husker "D" answers the call, as CSU is forced yet again to settle for 3 points as P. Love connected on a career high 54 yd FG (44-28).

                            Coach Moore
"Honestly I felt like our best play was just to go for it on 4th down, but Love has been begging me all week to let him show me he could hit from 50+ and he delivered on his promise"
Needing 2 scores and 2pt conversions to tie, Nebraska starts with 1, as Gordon finds R. Riley on a 6 yd strike and converts the 2pt play with a QB keeper (44-36) with 4 minutes to play. Rather then attempt the onside kick, Nebraska elects to kick it off and use their "D" and 3 timeouts in attempts to get the ball back with enough time to take this game to Overtime.

Colorado State and A. Clayton had a different idea though, as Clayton goes to the air connecting on 4 straight pass's. With the Defense in a dime package, A.C. then keeps it picking up a huge gain as he goes 19 yds to set up his 4th TD of the day on a 4 yd strike to TE T. Martin. FINAL SCORE CSU-50 NEBRASKA-36

                            KEY PLAYERS

                            WR C. Wright-8 rec 136 yds 1 TD

                            Coach Moore after the game
"I am super proud of our team, Clayton obviously was great today, he did a great job of spreading the ball around despite the fact he loves his TE, and when he did find Martin, he delivered with a huge game. I can't wait to see the poll's come out. When I came here the school told me their expectations were 6-7 wins and hopefully a bowl bid. We are 7 weeks into the season and are coming off back to back wins over teams ranked #3 in the nation and with 5 wins and 6 games left on our schedule I feel like we are headed in the right direction to achieve those goals"
COLORADO STATE WILL RETURN HOME FOR THE WEEK BEFORE TRAVELING ACROSS THE STATE LINE TO WYOMING FOR A BORDER WAR MATCHUP AND A CHANCE AT SECURING THE BRONZE BOOT

AROUND THE NATION RECAP WEEKS 5-7

COLORADO STATE IS INDEED A TOP-25 TEAM

With back to back victories over #3 Texas and then #3 Nebraska, Colorado State has done something Coach Kellen Moore didn't think was possible in his 1st season as Head Coach. With a 5-1 start they have cracked the Top-25 at#16.

A huge reason for that success has been the play of RS SO QB A. Clayton. Clayton has seen action in all 5 games this season, but his coming out party has been the past 2 games in which he has started and played the entire game. With a QB rating of 165.4, with 1318 yds passing on 84/138 with 12 TD and 3 INT, Clayton is quickly getting noticed for his arm, but he also has proven he can make plays with his feet as well with 40 carries for 140 yds and 4 TDs, despite just being 5'11 and 184 lbs.

                                BOISE STATE CLIMBS TO #5

Despite losing Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore to Colorado State, Boise State hasn't missed a beat this season as they improve to 5-0 with a huge non-conference win over Texas Tech (56-37) behind the play of backup QB B. Parham. With SR QB Luke Collins on the bench with a rib injury, Parham completes 20/29 pass's for 355 yds with a school record 7 TD's.

The Broncos then went on to defeat rival BYU in Week 6 (31-7) this time behind the play of 3rd string QB J. Robbins who completes 10/16 pass's in the 2nd half after Parham leaves with a injury.

After missing back to back weeks, and a Week 7 bye week, it appears that Collins will be back at the helm in a Week 8 matchup with Nevada as he looks to back into the Heisman race.

We have a new #3, but lucky for Minnesota, they don't have to face Colorado State next week, they do have to put their perfect (6-0) record up against (5-1) Michigan at home.

                                STILL PERFECT!!!

7 Weeks into the season and we still have 11 unbeaten teams including our Top-6 teams in the nation.

Joining Boise State and Minnesota in the Top-6 are

                                #1 Florida State (6-0)
                                #2 UCLA (5-0)
                                #4 Alabama (5-0)
#6 Iowa (5-0) moved from #10 after beating Colorado State and then up again after beating Colorado

Joining those 6 in the Top-25 are

                                #12 Navy (6-0)
                                #17 Vanderbilt (6-0)
                                #22 Auburn (6-0)

So who are those teams getting zero respect?

Louisville is 6-0 with a win over #24 Kentucky (5-2)
With only 2 tough games left (3-2) W. Virginia and (4-2) UNC), the Cardinals have a decent chance at playing in a BCS Bowl this season.

Buffalo is 5-0, but playing in the MAC they will most likely have to win out to make the jump and with (4-2) Toledo and (4-2) Cincinnati still on their schedule it's unlikely that they will stay perfect much longer.

Is it time for the Irish to start thinking about joining a conference? Notre Dame is currently sitting at (6-1) with their only loss being a (52-45) defeat to Syracuse, but wins over Temple,@ Purdue, @ North Carolina State (1-5), Duke (0-5) Arkansas State and @ Georgia Tech (3-2), Notre Dame still isn't getting Top-25 respect.

However after a Week 8 bye, the Irish will face #15 USC, #12 Navy, @ #20 Miami, @ #2 UCLA and @ #14 Stanford to close out the year, so you would think they have a pretty good shot at moving up with at least 3 or 4 victories among that group of 5.
