Two of the newer members of the ACC square off this weekend as #25 Rutgers takes on Kansas State. The Scarlet Knights are making their ACC debut, while Kansas St. is in their second year in the conference. Kansas State is coming off of a conference win vs Notre Dame 38-17 to open up their season.

These two schools have only met once back in 2006 in the Texas Bowl and what a time it was for Rutgers. Not only was it the schools first bowl victory in a 37-10 win, but the likes of Ray Rice, Mike Teel, and Brian Leonard, were roaming the campus and had the Scarlet Knights ranked as high as #7 in the country.

Kansas State Schedule So Far (1-0, 1-0)
    vs Notre Dame (0-1) -- W 38-17

      Week 2, Season 3
      August 31, 2013
      Manhattan, Kansas

      Offense
Rutgers offense was forced to punt 5 straight times on Saturday afternoon, the most ever under Coach Rick Ross. Chas Dodd struggled in finding receivers for most of the game and when he did the Scarlet Knights averaged just 8 yards a completion.

Rutgers had a chance to take an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter but a 4th and goal at the one was stuffed by the Kansas State D-Line. With the change of possessions at the 1, Rutgers would force a Safety within the next few plays.

Kansas State would score the first touchdown of the game, when JUCO transfer Jake Waters would find true freshman TE Cody Small on a short 1 yard TD score. Waters threw for 201 yards in the game and the lone score. Of his 21 completions he would find 8 different targets in the win.

The Rutgers run game only ran for 105 yards combined today but the unit kept Rutgers in the game all along. Savon Huggins broke free on a long 52 yard run to get RU inside the 10. Rutgers would score on the drive on an 8 yard reception from senior Jeremy Deering.

True freshman running back Chris Ball put Rutgers up 17-16 in the 3rd quarter with a 9 yard run, the freshman's first career score.

Leading the way for Kansas St. was receiver Tremaine Thompson who finished with 108 yards through the air. His 31 yard reception in the 4th quarter on a 3rd down help set up the go ahead field goal.

Like their passing game, Kansas St. spread the love out in the run game as 7 players saw carries, none more than DeMarcus Robinson. The 3rd string back led the way with 15 carries and 39 yards.

Rutgers seems to have an inability to score touchdowns in the red zone. Something that plagued the team during Coach Ross' first season.

      Defense
Both teams played a turnover free game this afternoon. Kansas State was able too force Rutgers to go just 3/11 on 3rd downs and 0 for their first 7!

The only sack of the day was recorded by Wildcats Bo Tillman, who would force Rutgers to punt from their own 10 yard line.

Sophomore corner Patrick Johnson continues to improve for the Scarlet Knights as he tied for the team lead with 10 tackles in todays game.

      Special Teams
It's rare that a kicker wins player of the game honors but Anthony Cantele did just that. The red shirt senior was 4/4 on the day including nailing a 57 yarder to open the scoring in the 3rd quarter, giving the Wildcats a 13-10 lead. Cantele totaled 11 of his teams 19 points.

For Rutgers it is now clear not being able to kick field goals from 45 yards+ is seriously hurting the team. Especially when the offense is struggling and cannot convert on 3rd downs, let alone 4th. Harrell didn't get an opportunity to kick today other then a single extra point attempt.

      Up Next
Things won't get much easier for the Scarlet Knights as they welcome Florida State to SHI Stadium in New Brunswick. The Seminoles are coming off of a 31-24 loss at the hands of Notre Dame in South Bend.

Coming off of a disappointing 19-17 loss to Kansas State, things aren't going to get easier for Rutgers as they welcome the Florida State Seminoles to New Brunswick. This is the first time ever these two teams have met in football and what a match up it promises to be. The Seminoles are coming off of a season opening loss in South Bend 31-24, and they are led by the controversial QB Jameis Winston.

Along with Winston, Florida State boasts a dynamic running back duo with a pair of redshirt sophomores in Devonta Freeman and Karlos Williams. On defense the Seminoles bring a fearsome secondary consisting of Xavier Rhodes (who had 3 interceptions vs Notre Dame) and Antwon Smith. There is no doubt Rutgers will have to be on top of their game to win in this one. A win will provide a much needed boost in the eyes of the national audience.

          Week 3, Season 3
          September 7, 2013
          New Brunswick, NJ

          Offense
Rutgers offense was humming today at least for the first half, as the Scarlet Knights scored all of their 35 points in the first two frames. Savon Huggins ran for a career high 175 yards and two scores, while Chas Dodd added two throwing scores of his own, in a 35-32 Rutgers win.

The Scarlet Knights poured it on in the first half of play, scoring from every which way you can think of, minus defensively. Senior wideout Jeremy Deering got the scoring started with a 30 yard TD reception on the teams opening drive. Shortly after a FSU field goal, Savon Huggins would make it 14-3 with his first score on the day.

Despite taking the lead, Dodd would throw two interceptions in the first quarter, luckily for Rutgers, sandwiched in between was a Jameis Winston pick.

Scoring again, Huggins would make it 21-3 with a career long 72 yard TD run in the 2nd quarter. Huggins was touched once before switching directions and running around the pile for the long score.

Rutgers would build the score to 28-6 before Florida State would finally answer.

The Seminoles would have a couple long scores of their own despite the rainy conditions. Running back Devonta Freeman who ran for 153 yards in the game, broke free on an 80 yard TD run of his own, starting the Florida State comeback in the 2nd quarter.

Down 35-18 to open the 2nd half, WR Bobby Watson, a JUCO transfer for Florida State, would bring the "Noles to within 10 with a long 63 yard TD run. Watson would again make his presence known in the final quarter with a 10 yard scoring reception from Jameis Winston bringing his team to within 3.

Jameis Winston would get the ball back with a chance to tie or win the game with 3 minutes left, but would fumble on sack by Rutgers Michael Larrow.

          Defense
Both defenses gave up a ton of yards today despite the swampy conditions. Florida State despite giving up so many points would force Chas Dodd interception in the first quarter. Gerald Demps and Jeff Luc were the aggressors.

One of the many pro prospects on Florida State's defense, Telvin Smith led all tacklers with 10 in the game, including a tackle in which Savon Huggins lost 6 yards.

For the Scarlet Knights it was freshman Roderick Watkins who had his best performance to date, with 9 tackles, 3 for loss. Michael Larrow, who forced the huge Jameis Winston fumble in the 4th quarter, recorded 2 sacks in the win.

          Special Teams
Rutgers kicking woes continue as this time sophomore Robby Harrell missed short from just 40 yards out, granted it was raining. Coach Ross has said punter Anthony DiPaula may be called upon from here on out. Rutgers was just 1/3 on 4th down today.

Part of Rutgers first half explosion was thanks in part to Brandon Coleman who took a kick-off 97 yards for a TD. The longest in Rutgers history, longer than Mohamed Sanu's 93 yarder, two years ago. The return would make it 35-12 Rutgers and was their final points scored in the game.

Florida State kicker Jason Myers was 2/2 on the day hitting his longest kick of 43 yards. Florida State was 0/2 on 2-point Conversions, those 4 points would have given them the win.

          Up Next
Rutgers, now firmly planted in the ACC after getting their first win, will head to Chapel Hill and face the 2-0 Tar Heels. Coming into this week the Tar Heels were receiving some Top 25 votes, though they fell just short.

Rutgers and UNC meet up in a big ACC Coastal matchup. Bigger then many people may actually realize. Rutgers comes in with a 2-1 (1-1) record after earning their first ACC win vs Florida State. The Tar Heels enter the contest at 2-0 (1-0), and just pulverized a Big 10 opponent in Minnesota 33-7. Rutgers is fighting to earn their way back into the Top 25, while North Carolina just missed out this week, falling a few votes short.

The last time these two teams met up was in 2011, Coach Ross' first year at the helm. Rutgers won that game in Chapel Hill 27-24. Now conference opponents, Carolina is much stronger with RB Giovani Bernard and Brynn Renner running the show in their senior seasons .

              Week 4, Season 3
              September 14, 2013
              Chapel Hill, North Carolina

              Offense
The North Carolina Tar Heels would come out guns blazing Saturday afternoon as they were able to turn two first quarter interceptions from Rutgers QB Chas Dodd into points.

The first interception would be returned 76 yards for a score, a Rutgers field goal would make it 7-3 before UNC would tack on 14 unanswered points. Stud HB Giovani Bernard who finished with 141 yards rushing on the day, would punch it in from a yard out, while QB Brynn Renner would find freshman FB David Ellis for an 11 yard score, to make it 21-3 to end the 1st quarter.

There was no coming back from that for Rutgers as the offense was unable to score for most of the afternoon. Chas Dodd completed just 22 of 49 passes with his 3 interceptions, something he hasn't done since his sophomore season. Before the half, Dodd would score on a QB sneak, making it 21-10.

UNC QB Brynn Renner would make his only mistake in the 3rd quarter over throwing a receiver and finding a Rutgers defensive back. He would make up for it in the final quarter with a 7 yard TD run, icing the cake, giving the Heels a 27-12 lead.

In essentially what was garbage time, Rutgers was finally able to put a dynamic drive together capped by a 2 yard TD reception from sophomore TE Joel Andrews.

Down 30-18, Chas Dodd would throw his final interception in the final 2 minutes ending any slim comeback hopes.

In the loss, Rutgers HB Savon Huggins carried the ball 18 times for 89 yards, but always seems to take a step back for every two step forwards, against a tough UNC defense.

Three different UNC receivers finished with over 50 receiving yards, they are Quinshad Davis, T.J. Thorpe and Joshua Adams.

              Defense
The Tar Heels defense was pretty much dominant in todays game vs Rutgers as their pair of first quarter interception would suck the life out of Rutgers from the very beginning.

It was D.J. Bunn who set the table with his 76 yard pick six in the first quarter, followed by Tim Scott just a few minutes later. Both defensive backs would lead UNC would 10 tackles each.

Rutgers defense was kept on their toes all game as the offensive weapons UNC brings to the table were just too much for the young defense to handle it seems. Giovani Bernard would run for 141 yards a season high allowed by Rutgers. They would get the best of Bernard in the 3rd quarter as they forced a safety, the teams second of the season.

Corner Darrell Givens would have the best play of the game for Rutgers when he intercepted Brynn Renner in the 3rd quarter.

              Special Teams
Robby Harrell again missed a kick, stop me if you've heard that before. Harrell was 1/2 on the day with a long of 42 yards. His miss was a 33 yard shank that could only leave Coach Ross shaking his head.

The Tar Heels kicker Ryan Evans was 1/1 in the game as his number wasn't called until the 4th quarter, expanding the lead to 30-12. A game high.

              Up Next
Rutgers has quite possibly their toughest game of the schedule next week as the #12 ranked Miami Hurricanes come to town. The Hurricanes are led by a Heisman hopeful QB Stephen Morris and are coming off of a 34-14 win over Clemson.

                  September 21, 2013
                  New Brunswick, NJ

                  Offense
It took a few extra frames of free football but the Rutgers Scarlet Knights finally ended their 11 game losing streak vs the Miami Hurricanes. After squandering a 27-9 lead in the 2nd half, a crazy overtime finish would lead to a Rutgers 43-37 upset of the #12 'Canes.

Things would get off to a terrible start for Rutgers as Chas Dodd would throw ANOTHER 1st quarter pick six, the second time in as many weeks. Luckily for him it would be the only mistake he would make all game, as he and Miami QB Stephen Morris would battle it out all afternoon.

After throwing the 1st quarter interception, Rutgers would go on to outscore Miami 27-2 in part of the 2nd and 2rd quarter.

Savon Huggins, who would tweak his back late in the game, started the scoring with a two yard run. Huggins would finish with just 41 yards rushing, but managed 51 receiving before he was injured. He will be fine for next weeks game.

Chas Dodd would find senior wideout Jeremy Deering and sophomore tight end Joel Andrews for throwing scores in the 2nd quarter. He would finish with a season high 357 yards through the air with the two scores.

Miami wouldn't score an offensive touchdown until the 3rd quarter when Allen Hurns finally began to make an impact, bringing in a 14 yard score. From there the Miami comeback was on and they would fight back to tie the game at 30 in the final minutes of the game.

Duke Johnson would score on back to back drives forcing the tie. Johnson would finish with 111 rushing yards in the loss.

The two teams would trade scores in the first OT as Rutgers would strike first with freshman HB Chris Ball running it in from 3 yards out. Stephen Morris would throw his 2nd score of the game to TE Asante Cleveland on his tams drive.

Taking the field immediately after, Heisman candidate QB Stephen Morris made the mental mistake of a life time on a speed option play, fumbling the ball allowing Rutgers sophomore All-American Djwany Mera to scoop and run 74 yards for the game winning score.

                  Defense
For all intents and purposes the Miami offense moved at will against the Rutgers defense. Two huge stops on 4th downs for the Scarlet Knights were enough to change the outcome of the game. Even though they took place so early in the game.

Rutgers was able to stop them on two of their four 4th down attempts, as the Hurricanes too have a kicking problem when it comes to distance.

By far the play of the game was the last, in which All-American DE Djwany Mera scored his first career touchdown on a scoop and score. A swarm of Rutgers defenders forced Stephen Morris to fumble his pitch and the rest was history.

The Hurricanes defense got the game started with the pick six from Garrett Kidd, but they quickly fell apart allowing the 27-2 run. They were able to hold Rutgers run game to under 100 yards which is no easy task with Savon Huggins back there.

In the 2nd quarter, a swarm of Hurricane defenders were able to stop Savon Huggins in the end zone for a safety, making the score 17-9 at the time.

                  Special Teams
Rutgers sophomore kicker Robby Harrell had the game of his young career as he was 3/3 on the day. All of his kicks coming inside 39 yards. Harrell was able to extend the lead three different times and without those points the game would have went another direction.

The Hurricanes were able to block a punt in the first quarter, however they fumbled the return and Rutgers was able to recover, for a fresh set of downs.

                  Up Next
Rutgers welcomes another high profile team to Jersey next week as the Fighting Irish come to town for an ACC matchup. Notre Dame is coming off of a heartbreaking 25-22 loss in overtime to rival Michigan.

The two schools are coming off of completely opposite weekends, where the Irish fell to #4 Michigan in OT 25-22, and the Scarlet Knights upset #12 Miami in overtime, 43-37.

Thanks for checking in, always appreciated! Michael Irvin was actually arrested that night in Texas, initial reports say he had an 8-Ball and a lady dude with him when he was pulled over.

                        Offense
Rutgers offensively had their best game of the season on Saturday as they totaled 599 yards in a 45-6 thrashing of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Chas Dodd threw for 335 yards and three scores, while Savon Huggins would add two scores on the ground and exactly 100 yards rushing.

All afternoon Rutgers kept the peddle to the floor as they didn't let up, not even when the back ups were in midway through the 4th quarter. Sophomore QB Gary Nova finished with 75 yards and a score, while freshman tailback Chris Ball added another 81 on the ground.

The scoring really got going when rJunior wideout Brandon Coleman caught a 16 yard pass from Dodd in the first quarter making it 10-0. From their it would be all Rutgers as they would take a 24-3 lead into the half.

To open the half, Notre Dame would march all the way downfield but stall inside the 15 as Tommy Rees had trouble connecting with receivers all day. The Irish settled for a 26 yard FG, ending their scoring for the day, with the score 24-6.

Rutgers nearly doubled up their scoring efforts from the first half, both Savon Huggins and TE Joel Andrews would tally their second scores each in the final two quarters.

With the game well out of hand in the 4th quarter, back up QB rSophomore Gary Nova and true freshman wideout Eric Mason connected on a quick slant, which Mason took 65 yards for his first collegiate score.

The Irish only managed 291 total yards and most of that came through the air from Tommy Rees. Running back George Atkinson tallied 13 carries for 48 yards, finding moderate success. He led the passing game with six receptions and 59 yards as well.

With his two scores today, sophomore tight end Joel Andrews retook the team lead with 4 receiving touchdowns.

With a pass completed in the 2nd quarter, Chas Dodd broke another school record held by Mike Teel and that's the career passing yards mark, Dodd currently sits with 8,726 in his career.

                        Defense
The Scarlet Knights D only allowed two field goals in what was an excellent performance all the way around. Sophomore linebacker Joe Stephens forced the teams only turnover with an interception of Rees in the 2nd quarter.

After allowing Duke Johnson of Miami run wild last week Rutgers held, George Atkinson lll and C.J. Prosise to just 54 yards.

The Fighting Irish managed to intercept Chas Dodd in the 3rd quarter as Jalen Brown easily intercepted an under thrown ball. They also forced a turnover in the final seconds as Gary Nova coughed up the ball while scrambling.

                        Special Teams
Robby Harrell put Rutgers on the board first with a 31 yard kick, his only field goal of the day. He did manage to make all six of his extra point attempts.

Notre Dame kicker Kyle Brindza was 2/2 on the day with a long of 50. If it weren't for his boot the Irish would have been shut out.

                        Up Next
The Scarlet Knights hit the road and take on Virginia Tech, who is currently going through a crisis of their own. The preseason #12 team, Virginia Tech beat Boston College last week, but that was after they had lost three straight to unranked teams. Though one of those teams Kansas State is now ranked #23.

Coming off back to back home wins vs Miami and Notre Dame, the Scarlet Knights hit the road and head down to Virginia Tech to take on the Hokies. The last two times these schools met was way back in 2003, where the Hokies would win big. Rutgers last win vs Virginia Tech came in 1992, so to say they are do is an understatement.

The Hokies were ranked in the top 25 to begin the season, after stating 2-0 they dropped three straight games, before finally winning last week vs Boston College to move their record to 3-3. The Hokies come in with the #8 overall offense led by QB Logan Thomas. The teams star running back Tony Gregory who came back for an extra season, is out for the season with a torn achilles, a huge loss for Virginia Tech.

                            Blacksburg, Virginia

                            Offense
For the third straight week Rutgers offense has been humming! Chas Dodd threw for 340 yards and 3 scores, while Savon Huggins added another 112 on the ground, in what was the Scarlet Knights third straight win.

One could argue this is the most most impressive 3-game span in school history as Rutgers defeated Miami, Notre Dame, and now Virginia Tech, planting themselves in 3rd place in the ACC Coastal division.

Virginia Tech's QB Logan Thomas would throw one of his two scores on the first drive to give Tech an early 7-3 lead. Backup running back Trey Edmunds would follow suit with a running score, giving Tech a 14-10 lead early in the 2nd quarter.

From there it was all Rutgers, as they would score 28 unanswered points, leading by a score of 38-14 at one point in the 4th quarter. Freshman back Chris Ball got the scoring started with a short run making it 17-14, then it was on.

Dodd would find Jeremy Deering for a 2 yard score before the half and redshirt freshman tight end Chris Inman for a long 56 yard strike to cap the scoring for Rutgers in the final quarter.

Mix in a bunch of Robby Harrell field goals and the Scarlet Knights took the heart of the Hokies as the team has now dropped 4 of 5 games.

                            Defense
As much as the offense contributed today with all the scoring, the Rutgers defense deserves a tremendous amount of credit, twice did they stop Virginia Tech inside their own red-zone after Rutgers turnovers.

The front seven were attacking all afternoon as they got to Logan Thomas 6 times on the afternoon with a numerous amount hurries. No body had more sacks than the sophomore Joe Stephens who notched a career high 3 sacks in the game.

Tariq Edwards led the way for the Hokies defense, he and J.R. Collins were each able to record a sack in the game.

                            Special Teams
Robby Harrell was the unsung hero for Rutgers as he was 3/3 on his kicks this afternoon, including a new career long of 44 yards. Harrell accounted for 12 points in the win.

Rutgers punt returner and best wideout Jeremy Deering didn't have a great day of special teams play. Deering fumbled two punts in the game setting up the Hokies inside their 15 the first time, while they were at the 24 yard line following the second fumble.

                            Up Next
Rutgers will stay in Virginia for the week as Coach Ross got permission from the school. Following their win vs Tech, the team travels to take on the Virginia Cavaliers this weekend coming. The Cavaliers are coming off of a 56-24 blowout loss at the hands of #14 UNC.

Rutgers TE Joel Andrews hauls in a TD grab in the 2nd quarter, briefly giving Rutgers a 10-7 lead. NOTE: Andrews is 6'7"!! Safety is not!

Thank you for the kind words! I certainly appreciate you taking the time to check it out! Being from NJ myself I miss the Schiano days (hopefully a return soon)!

As for the formatting I basically use all the tools given within the reply box. I make my tables on Pages and just tinker with them until I like the look. I screen shot them and upload them to the internet machine. With the help of some guys in the forums i came across flickr to host the images. (I was having issues in the beginning). The table generator is an awesome tool too!
