1. DALLAS COWBOYS
Predictably, the defending Super Bowl champions come in at #1 in the preseason power rankings. Led by the top-rated offense and 2nd rated defense, the Cowboys will look to break a three-way tie this season with the Steelers and Patriots by winning their 7th Super Bowl trophy. 2019 NFL offensive player of the year Ezekiel Elliot, cornerback Brandon Jones, Amari Cooper (WR), DeMarcus Lawrence (DE), 2019 NFL defensive player of the year Leighton Vander Esch (OLB), Super Bowl MVP Dak Prescott, and the best offensive line in the league...it's hard to find a hole on this absolutely stacked roster.
2. CHICAGO BEARS
Despite a lackluster 9-7 record in 2019 that saw the team miss the playoffs, the Bears still have a lot going for them. They boast the NFL's best defense, led by superstars Khalil Mack (OLB), Edie Jackson (FS), and Kyle and Kendall Fuller (CB). But the offense led by 4th year pro Mitch Trubisky (QB) leaves a lot to be desired, and the team will also have to overcome the loss of their offensive focal point Tarik Cohen (HB), who will miss the first 5-7 weeks of the season with a ruptured disk.
3. CAROLINA PANTHERS
Carolina finished as the #2 seed in the NFC last season after posting a 12-4 record, but could not overcome the Cowboys in the playoffs. Still, they are one of the most balanced teams in the league with plenty of superstars on both sides of the ball, including but not limited to Luke Kuechly (MLB), Christian McCaffery (HB), Greg Olsen (TE), Cam Newton (QB), and an outstanding offensive line. The Panthers also added Oklahoma standout CeeDee Lamb (WR) in the draft, giving Newton yet another weapon as they look to finish what they started last year.
4. CLEVELAND BROWNS
The defending AFC champions were the toast of the league last year after posting a league-best 14-2 regular season record, but were undone in the Super Bowl by a last-second field goal. The team is young and stacked with talent that includes Myles Garrett (DE), Kareem Hunt (HB), Denzel Ward (CB), and Baker Mayfeild (QB). But they'll have to overcome the loss of Odell Beckham Jr., who will miss the first 6-8 weeks of the season with a dislocated ankle.
5. SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS
After posting a disappointing 7-9 record in their final season in Indianapolis, the newly-named San Antonio Express were given a gift this offseason when Andrew Luck (QB) announced his intentions to return to the NFL after missing all of last year. They also added Alabama all-star Dylan Moses (MLB) in the draft to headline their defensive front. Expect the newest Texas NFL franchise to have a big year in their inaugural season.
