The British Are Coming - A London Bulldogs Franchise

    ST. FRANCISCO PRESENTS

    THE BRITISH ARE COMING
    A LONDON BULLDOGS FRANCHISE

For those who don't know me, many moons ago I was extremely active in the franchise/dynasty reporting. I got out of the game for a good while, but I've recently got the itch again. So I hope you enjoy this franchise as much as I will!

              NFL ANNOUNCES MAJOR RELOCATION NEWS
SIX TEAMS WILL FIND NEW HOMES IN 2020

The NFL shocked not only the country but the world today as they announced that a total of six teams would begin the relocation process, and would have a brand new home in time for the 2020 season.

Most shocking of all was that not one, not two, but THREE franchises would be going international, bringing America's favorite sport to the rest of the world. First up are the Miami Dolphins, a once storied NFL franchise that hasn't been relevant in decades, and is currently in the midst of a brutal rebuilding period. The Dolphins will jump across the big blue pond, where they will become the London Bulldogs. The move comes after the continued success of the NFL's annual London regular season games, prompting the league to finally place a team in the UK permanently. The Buffalo Bills are perhaps a more obvious move, and will hop the border to play their home games in Canada as the newly-named Toronto Huskies. And finally, the struggling Jaguars franchise will head south and take residence in Mexico City under the moniker of the Golden Eagles.

Domestically, everyone was already aware that the Raiders would be moving the team to Las Vegas in 2020. But another California team is also on the move as the Chargers have announced that they will return to San Diego with a new stadium after having spent just two seasons in Los Angeles. But perhaps the most surprising relocation of them all came from Indianapolis, where the Colts have announced that they will become the third professional franchise in the state of Texas, assuming the name of the San Antonio Express. The move aligns the former Colts geographically with their AFC South division rivals.

Roger Goodell had this to stay at the press conference, "As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the National Football League, we look back on what makes this sport so great. But we're also looking forward to the future, and the expansion of this great brand. By moving three teams outside of America's borders, we expand our fanbases to include the entire countries of Canada, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. Domestically, San Diego is thrilled to welcome back their beloved Chargers, I think fans in Las Vegas will embrace the Raiders with the same diehard mentality that they enjoyed in Oakland, and the great state of Texas will welcome a third franchise. Texas is considered by most to be the heart of football, and I'm sure the stadium in San Antonio will be packed to the rafters ever Sunday."

All six relocations will occur in the AFC, giving the conference a fresh and exciting look heading into 2020.

Side note: I gave serious consideration to moving the Jets to become the Brooklyn Bulls, but I hated the uniform choices. I also really wanted to move the Cowboys east to align them geographically with their division rivals, but I couldn't move myself to get rid of one of the NFL's most storied franchises. Same thing with the Chiefs, I really wanted to move them further west to Salt Lake City or Portland, but the uniform choices there were horrible too.

I really wish the game would let us re-align the divisions.

Agreed with wishing we could re-align divisions. Working on something myself and I was debating between Oklahoma City (the Bison looks like the Boise State uniforms kind of), Brooklyn, or Toronto.

Man I would go HAM if they let us re-align divisions. I hate the geographical head-scratchers.

I get that they have the divisions set-up based on rivalries but it was dumb to name them geographically if that was going to be the case.

HARD TO WATCH: DOLPHINS ABYSMAL IN FINAL YEAR
THE FRANCHISE WILL LIMP INTO LONDON NEXT YEAR AFTER A 3-13 SEASON

The stands were full for all eight home games in Hard Rock Stadium as loyal fans bid farewell to the Dolphins, but there was little to cheer about as the team posted the 2nd worst record in the NFL in their final Florida season.

The Dolphins opened the season with two home losses to the Ravens and Patriots by an average of 26 points, and it was mostly downhill from there as Miami would stay winless all the way until November before narrowly edging out the Jets 37-31 in Miami. Oddly enough, it was the same game that the team suffered their most profound injury of the season. After winning the starting job in the preseason, Josh Rosen completed 58% of his passes for 1,893 yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions before dislocating his ankle in the 2nd half against the Jets. Fitzpatrick took over from there, throwing two touchdowns in the 4th quarter to lead Miami to a comeback victory. Facing a recovery time of 7-9 weeks with just 8 games left in the regular season, Rosen was placed on injured reserve the following day and Fitzpatrick took over the reigns permanently, completing 60% of his passes for 1,692 yards, 12 touchdowns, and four interceptions in eight starts (excluding the Jets game). He led the team to a 2-6 record down the stretch as the Dolphins swept the Jets, then picked up a 20-13 victory against the Bengals in their home finale in week 16 before being blasted 42-21 by the Patriots on the road in their last game.

Taking a closer look at the stats, it's easy to see why the team struggled to put W's on the board. The team finished 29th in total offensive yards and points per game, 31st in redzone points (22 touchdowns and 4 field goals in 42 attempts), and dead last in the NFL in total defensive yards, points allowed per game, and sacks. They were also penalized more than any other team, collecting 101 flags and 892 yards for an average of six penalties per game. The lone bright spot for Miami was their secondary play, where they ranked 2nd in the league in interceptions with 16 on the year. They were led by 4th year pro Xavien Howard (CB), who recorded a career-high 82 tackles and an AFC-leading five interceptions on his way to being the only Dolphin nominated to the Pro Bowl. 4th year runningback Kenyan Drake's 3.9 yards per carry were nothing to write home about, but he logged career highs in attempts, yards, and touchdowns, which was enough to earn him a three-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through 2022. The only other player on the team to receive a midseason contract was punter Matt Haack, who is also guaranteed to be on the roster for the next four seasons. The remainder of Miami's expiring contracts are expected to be released into free agency, but time will tell.

The Dolphins will now head to London and begin setting up operations, where there will be plenty to tackle. In addition to holding the #2 overall pick in the draft, there are also rumors that first year head coach Brian Flores might be on his way out after his lackluster inaugural season.
