    GAME RECAP

    With 2 key turnovers, FIU is able to snap their 3 game losing streak well extending Old Dominions to 6 straight games in a low scoring affair.

    Still scoreless as we enter the 2nd Quarter both teams manage to find the endzone as Keyone Jenkins strikes first hitting Kyle McNeal on a 36 yd score to make it (7-0) but then the Monarchs answer back as SO QB Colton Joseph (79) hits SR WR Kelby Williams (76) on a 47 yd score to tie the game (7-7) at the half.

    FIU would take the lead (10-7) on the opening drive of the 2nd half as Issac Glennon drill a 42 yd FG. The kick was his 20th of the season out of 22 attempts (both misses were over 50 yds) as several fans have started a petition to get him added to the Lou Groza Award watch list.

    Old Dominion would answer the score with their own 80 yd 11 play drive but Joseph's pass intended for Williams in the endzone is picked off by SO SS Dominick Mays.

    It was FIU's turn to go 80 yds for their score but they didn't need 11 plays to do it as KJ hits Juju Lewis on a 23 yd strike 5 plays later to give FIU the (17-7) lead as we head to the 4th.

    After a forced punt FIU had a chance to extend the lead but Glennon for the first time all season would miss a kick inside 40 yds as his 39 yd attempt hits the upright.

    The Monarchs with a breath of fresh life would use 9 plays ending with a 9 yd TD run by SR Tariq Sims (72 Ovr) to make it (17-14) with just over 4 minutes to play.

    It looked like the Monarchs were going to get their chance with 2:12 to play Coach Miller sends out the punt team for a 7th time as FR Louis Myers connects on his best punt of the day kicking it 60 yds downing the ball inside the 20 at the 11 yd line.

    Still armed with 3 timeouts Joseph would complete his fist 2 pass's picking up 21 yds but on his 3rd pass JR OLB Percy Courtney Jr comes up with a huge INT which in turns ends up being the game winning play as FIU turns to the ground game to run out the clock..

    Joseph finished the game 27/36 (75%) for 288 yds with 1 TD and the 2 INT

    Coach Miller "Colton Joseph played a great game minus 2 throws. You feel bad for that it ended like that but at the same time we needed this win. They got alot of Seniors on their team so honestly I am going to be pulling for them to win when they host Marshall. It would be nice for those guy's to end their season on a positive note"

      GAME RECAP

      Today was Senior Day, as Coach Miller sticking with a tradition that started in Boise that he brought with him to Miami is all Seniors get to start their final game if possible. With only 9 Seniors on the roster, today was a easy day to make that happen, especially being how 8 of them have started all season.

      For a squad who had 1 only 1 game all season, the Dukes came into this one looking to play spoiler and they did a pretty good job of it.

      FIU opened up taking a (14-0) lead behind a pair of rushing touchdowns from SR RB Shomari Lawrence but James Madison battled back as the Duke Defense picks off Keyone Jenkins twice turning one of them into a "Pick 6" as JR CB justin Eaglin takes it back 59 yds for the score to give the Dukes the (17-14) lead in the 1st Quarter.

      Jenkins would rebound from his early INT's though as he leads 2 scoring drives completed by a pair of touchdowns to True Freshman Faitele Okwara (17 yds and 9 yds) to give FIU the (28-27) lead with 1:31 to play. The FIU "D" woudl force a quick 3 and out with the offense taking over with 28 seconds to play, Jenkins would get SR TE Rocky Beers on a 25 yd gain to set up a Glennon 38 yd FG as time expires making it (31-27) at the half.

      FR SS Sadonnie Gay would open up the 2nd half picking off Duke QB JC Evans (FR/71 Ovr), and Jenkins would waste little time putting the Panthers in the endzone as he hits Kyle McNeal on a 31 yd scoring strike as FIU extends their lead to (38-27).

      James Madison already with 2 FG's on the day including a 55 yarder by SR Noe Ruelas, would roll out Ruelas for another 50 yd attempt but the kick sails wide left leaving the game (38-27). This miss would comeback to haunt the Dukes later in the game as Jenkins throws INT #3 leading to Evans to JR WR Yamir Knight 41 yd score that made it (38-33). The Dukes would leave the offense on the field and Evans would convert the 2pt play making it (38-35) as we head to the 4th.

      Ruelas however would get some redemption as he drill a 42 yd FG to tie the game with 7 minutes to play (35-35).

      Coach Miller knew he wanted to limit the Dukes chances over the final 7 minutes giving the Duke Defense a healty dose of RB Shomari Lawrence and the Senior delivered as he breaks his longest run of the season taking it 43 yds to the house to put FIU up (42-35).

      James Madison however wasn't going down without a fight, as Freshman JC Evans leads the charge. Evans a Miami native had his entire family in the stands for the game and you could tell he was fueled by it as he completes 3 straight pass's to push the Dukes into FG range but down 7, they need a TD. So Evans drops back trying to hit fellow FR TE Kevin Crouse over the middle, but SO CB Preston Thompson was ready as he jumps the route coming up with the INT..

      Again sticking with his game plan the FIU offense would then reel off 12 straight runs including a touchdown run by TJ Snowden as FIU takes the 2 score lead.

      Evans had one final chance but the Dukes would turn the ball over on downs.

      Evans finished the game completing 21/29 pass's (72%) for 167 yds with the 2 TD and 2 INT., he also had 59 yds rushing on 11 carries including a 28 yd long.

      UP NEXT

      FIU now (7-4) on the season will look to close out the regular season with hopefully win #8 as they take on (6-5) Coastal Carolina on the road.

      FIU is currently projected to play in the New Orleans Bowl against a SunBelt Opponent but the Sun Belt could be short on qualified teams as its currently not listing a opponent.

        GAME RECAP

        For a 2nd time this season FIU comes away with a Overtime victory as the Panthers win their 8th game of the season securing their best regular season finish since 2018 which happens to also be the last year they won a Bowl game as well.

        FIU jumped out to the early (7-0) lead as Jenkins hits Juju Lewis on a 77 yd bomb.

        Coastal Carolina would tie the game early in the 2nd Quarter as JR RB Simon Price(84 Ovr) takes it in from 4 yds out. The Chanticleers would then take the 1st half lead (10-7) as SR Liam Gray (75 Ovr) connects on a 46 yd FG.

        Coastal would open up the 2nd half with the ball as JR QB Ethan Vasko (84 Ovr) completes a 42 yd bomb to FR WR Brooks Van Roten (66 Ovr) to make it (17-7).

        FIU would have to settle for a 43 yd FG by Isaac Glennon to make it (17-10) as they headed into the 4th down by a score.

        A fumble by Coastal Carolina RB S. Price would give FIU the ball back midfield and Jenkins wastes little time as he directs a 5 play drive ending with a 6 yd TD run that he keeps himself to tie the game game (17-17).

        Coastal however answers back as Vasko leads a 11 play drive ending in a 34 yd TD pass to SO WR X. Wiedner (74 Ovr) to make it (24-17).

        FIU sticking with a run game that had found some life goes down and ties the game back up (24-24) as RB Shomari Lawrence scores his 11th rushing TD of the season.

        Coastal had a chance to win the game in regulation but turned the ball over on downs as FIU settles to take the game into OT rather then risk a turnover late in the game.

        FIU won the toss and elected to start on Defense, as Coastal takes the ball and quickly scores as Vasco hits SR WR Jameson Tucker (78) on the touchdown.

        The Chanticleers however then pulled off the biggest surprise of the game as they leave the offense on the field to try and convert the 2pt play. Even after a timeout by Coach Miller, Coastal still lines up for the 2pt play and converts as FIU takes over now also need a 2 point play in order to tie the game.

        Still playing somewhat conservative, Jenkins pulls the ball down and runs for his 2nd rushing TD of the day to make it (32-30). Jenkins would then hit TE Rocky Beers on the 2pt on play to force another OT series.

        Now it was FIU's turn to put pressure on the home team as FIU quickly scores as TJ Snowden dives in from 1 yd out after a a Jenkins to Beers reception is called out a the 1 yd line. FIU leaving their offense on the field then converts their 2nd straight 2 pt play as Jenkins hits the 6'4 Okwara in the corner of the endzone to make it (40-32).

        Again Coastal wastes little time as Vasko throws his 4th TD of the day hitting SR WR Tray Taylor on the 25 yd score to make it (40-38). Now faced with the same situation that the put FIU in, Coastal needed the 2pt play to keep things going, but Vasko's pass is tipped at the line of scrimmage and falls to the ground.. Ball game over..

        Vasko finished the game 31/43 (72%) for 404 yds with 4 TD, he also led the team in rushing with 38 yds.

              Posting soon the matchup soon. Havn't played it yet but excited too. Should be a tough game.. Recruiting Class is coming together. Missed out on my main QB and RB I was after, so I am hoping there are some options in the portal. Also missed out on my top-3 OLB's so unless I land someone in the portal I am going to be hurting.

                I have a couple things going in my favor this week. Some extra time off but also I don't have kids and my wife is a gamer, so most evenings after we eat dinner and watch something on TV (we have about 5 shows we like) we both typcially hit our Xbox (she also plays PC games), so I typically can play 2-3 games per night sometimes in a normal week but I had all weekend to grind out games. Right now the only other game I play is COD but the guy's I typically run with are spending time with their family's over Christmas/New Years so it's been almost 100% dedication to CFB25.

                  Nice little three game win streak to close out the year, especially with the OT win there at the end. Those games where someone on the other team always seems to go nuts but you still win are always satisfying. Will be interesting to see what bowl game the Panthers end up in!

                    2025 PRE-PLAYOFF/BOWL RECAP

                    With multiple teams changing conferences including the rebuilding of the Pac-12 in 2025, college football fans across the nation cheered on their favorite team with dreams of their team playing for a Conference Championship and earning a spot in this year's College Football Playoff..

                    Just like 2024, we saw plenty of surprises including another magical run by Boise State who once again earns a chance to play for a National Title.

                    Here is a breakdown of each Conference Standings.

                    **Team that played in the Conference Championship**

                    ACC

                    *#1 (11-1) Clemson
                    *#9 (9-3) Maryland
                    #13 (9-3) Virginia Tech
                    (8-4) Boston College
                    (8-4) Miami
                    (7-5) North Carolina
                    (7-5) Georgia Tech
                    (7-5) Duke
                    (6-6) Florida State
                    #23 (6-6) West Virginia (not sure why they are ranked)
                    (6-6) NC State
                    (4-8) Wake Forest
                    (4-8) Virginia
                    (5-7) Syracuse
                    (2-10) Rutgers
                    (1-11) Louisville

                    "Not sure how WVU is ranked they were 4-6 and won their last 2 games, poor Rutgers didn't enjoy the move to the ACC , and I am shocked Louisville (86 Overall) managed to win just 1 game. Clemson and Maryland are basically playing for a Top-4 seed with both teams projected to make the playoffs"

                    AMERICAN

                    * #16 (10-2) Cincinnati
                    * (8-4) Navy
                    (7-5) UConn
                    (7-5) Temple
                    (6-6) Purdue
                    (6-6) Southern Miss
                    (6-6) Memphis
                    (5-7) Middle Tennessee
                    (5-7) Northwestern
                    (4-8) Western Kentucky
                    (4-8) Northern Illinois
                    (0-12) Army

                    "The move back to the American paid off for Cincinnati as they are not only playing for a Conference title but still got a outside shot at a playoff spot. Poor Purdue and Northwestern can't even beat up on American Conference teams so looks like the move out of the Big Ten didn't really do them any help. Completely shocked that Army went 0-12 they were 10-2 last year and almost made the playoffs."

                    BIG 12

                    *#4 (11-1) Kansas State
                    #7 (10-2) Iowa State
                    *#10 (9-3) SMU
                    #8 (9-3) Texas Tech
                    (8-4) TCU

                    (5-7) Baylor
                    (4-8) Arizona State
                    (4-8) Kansas
                    (3-9) Rice
                    (2-10) Utah

                    "Kansas State was undefeated until a Week 13 loss to Iowa State dropping from #1 to #4. Somehow SMU sneaks into the Big 12 title game as they hold the tie breaker over Iowa State but with 4 teams in the playoff hunt, the Big 12 is looking tough"

                    BIG TEN

                    * #3 (10-2) Oregon
                    * #11 (9-3) Penn State
                    #12 (9-3) Michigan
                    (7-5) USC
                    (7-5) Michigan State
                    (7-5) Pitt
                    (7-5) UCLA
                    (7-5) Ohio State
                    (6-6) Stanford
                    (6-6) Illinois
                    (6-6) Nebraska
                    (5-7) Washington
                    (4-8) Cal
                    (4-8) Minnesota
                    (3-9) Indiana
                    (3-9) Wisconsin

                    "Tough year for Indiana, after making the playoffs in 2024, the Hoosiers won just 3 games in the Big Ten this season and went 0-6 at home. Defending National Champion Oregon looks ready to make a repeat run. Even if the Ducks lose in the Big Ten title game to Penn State it looks like both team are in with Michigan currently sitting on the bubble"

                    CUSA

                    * #22 (10-2) Liberty
                    * #25 (8-4) Appalachian State
                    (8-4) FIU
                    (7-5) Charlotte
                    (6-6) FAU
                    (6-6) Coastal Carolina
                    (5-7) East Carolina
                    (5-7) Marshall
                    (3-9) Old Dominion
                    (1-11) James Madison

                    "It was cool to see both teams playing in the Conference title game ranked in the Top-25, but sadly neither team has a shot at a playoff spot.. I don't really understand the bowl tie ins with CUSA. Current projects has Coastal playing Top-25 ranked Air Force in the Armed Forces with Liberty playing Nevada in the New Mexico Bowl and Appalachian State going to the Bahamas Bowl to play South Alabama.. I am pretty happy with finishing 3rd. 1 more conference win and I could've had a shot at a rematch with Liberty"

                    MAC

                    * (7-5) Buffalo
                    (7-5) UMass

                    (7-5) Kent State
                    * (6-6) Ohio
                    (6-6) Western Michigan
                    (6-6) Akron
                    (6-6) Miami OH
                    (6-6) Ball State
                    (5-7) Bowling Green
                    (4-8) Central Michigan
                    (1-11) Eastern Michigan

                    "Ohio somehow wins all the tiebreakers and makes it to the Conference Championship among all the teams that finished with 3 loss's in conference play. Shoutout to the fact 9 teams are bowl eligible"

                    MOUNTAIN WEST

                    * (8-4) Nevada
                    * (9-3) Sam Houston

                    (7-5) UTEP
                    (7-5) San Jose State

                    (4-8) Hawaii
                    (4-8) New Mexico State
                    (3-9) Wyoming

                    "Air Force proves that ending on a 6 game win streak can get you noticed in the rankings. but Nevada and Sam Houston will battle for the title, as I am sure both schools are happy that half the conference now plays in the Pac-12"

                    PAC-12

                    * #5 (11-1) Tulane (Lost to Duke went 9-0 in Conference play)
                    * #6 (10-2) Boise State (Lost to Notre Dame and Washington State)
                    (7-5) USF

                    (3-9) UNLV
                    (2-10) Colorado State

                    " The Pac-12 showdown of BSU vs Tulane with the winner getting a 1st Round Bye. Can the Broncos make it 2 years in a row. Sorta of a sad showing by the MWC teams that moved with 4 of them finishing in the spots 9-12 and not getting bowl eligible."

                    SEC

                    * #2 (11-1) Georgia

                    (3-9) Auburn
                    (3-9) Ole Miss
                    (3-9) Vanderbilt

                    "What another crazy year for the SEC. Unless TAMU beats Georgia in the Championship current projections have the Bulldogs as the only team to make the playoffs despite 6 teams ranked in the Top-25."

                    SUNBELT

                    * #21 (9-3) Louisiana
                    (8-4) Arkansas State

                    (3-9) Kennesaw State
                    (3-9) Jacksonville State

                    "It was a rough move for Kennesaw and Jacksonville State. Louisiana continues to be the dominating force in the conference winning their final 6 games, well Georgia State wins the tie breaker over Arkansas State for the chance to end the winning steak"

                    INDEPENDENT

                    #20 (9-3) Notre Dame

                    "The Irish played 9 of their 12 games at home and went 8-1 including their win over Boise State as well as TAMU, USC and Navy, but that Week 1 loss to Boston College as well as Week 11 to Syracuse and Week 14 @ Stanford killed any chance at being ranked in the Top-12 and making the playoffs"

                      CONFERFENCE CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

                      GIVE ME LIBERTY

                      The Liberty Flames were the favorites to win CUSA in the Pre-Season and they did it defeating the Appy State Mountaineers (23-17)..

                      IT'S SUNNY IN LOUSIANA

                      The Ragin Cajun's defeated Georgia State (37-27) to win their 2nd straight Sun Belt title. Reports are HC Michael Desormeaux is being heavily recruited by some Power 4 programs leaving a vacancy in Lafayette next season.

                      MAC ATTACK

                      Ohio pulled off the upset defeating Buffalo (36-14) to win the MAC.

                      BEARKATS ARE KING OF THE MOUNTAIN

                      Sam Houston State is your 2025 MWC Champions defeating Nevada (28-22)..

                      AMERICAN

                      Cincinnati defeats Navy (36-14) to win the American, but the BearCats move up just 1 spot to #15 as it looks like they will just miss a playoff invite.

                      ACC

                      The Clemson Tigers are back to back ACC Champions as they defeat #9 Maryland (21-13).. With the win Clemson remains #1 and secures the #1 Overall seed. With the loss the Terps drop from #9 to #11 but appears to have at least secured a spot in the playoffs similar to what SMU did last year.

                      BIG 12

                      Kansas State holds on to defeat SMU (34-30) to win the Big 12 title. However I will say it's impressive that SMU just 1 year ago was the runner up in the ACC against Clemson. With the win K-State secures a Top-4 seed in the playoffs as they move 1 spot to #3 in the final rankings. SMU drops 2 spots to #12 with the loss and will have to await the selection committee's decision just like they did last year. With Texas Tech and Iowa State both currently ranked #7/8.. Will the Big 12 get 4 teams this year?

                      BIG TEN

                      #11 Penn State pulls off the upset defeating #3 Oregon (33-14) to secure the Big Ten Title opening up the door for the Pac-12 Champion to potentially secure a Top-4 seed in the playoffs. With the loss Oregon drops to #5 in the rankings well the Nittany Lions move up 2 spots to #9.

                      SEC

                      #2 Georgia defeats #15 Texas A&M (23-20) to win the SEC Championship and secure the #2 seed in the playoffs as they finish the year #2 in the rankings.

                      TAMU with the loss drops to #17 in the rankings

                      PAC-12

                      Boise State pulls off a Overtime victory over Tulane (44-42) to earn their 2nd straight trip to the Playoffs and their 2nd Top-4 seed as they secure the #4 seed after finishing the year ranked #4.. With the loss Tulane drops to #6 but will host in the 1st Round.

                      BSU trailed (24-17) going into the 4th.. RS FR Dylan Riley led the team with 15 carries for 76 yds and 3 TD's, well True Freshman and 4* Recruit Darrin Crummey had 8 rec for 109 yds

                        YOUR FINAL 12

                        #12 (9-4) SMU vs #5 (10-3) Oregon with the winner advancing to face #4 (11-2) Boise State

                        #9 (10-3) Penn State vs #8 (10-2) Iowa State with the winner advancing to face #1 (12-1) Clemson

                        #11 (9-4) Maryland vs #6 (11-2) Tulane with the winner advancing to face #3 (12-1) Kansas State

                        #10 (9-3) Michigan vs #7 (9-3) Texas Tech with the winner advancing to face #2 (12-1) Georgia..

                        Winners and losers.

                        The Big 12 are the absolute winners as they place 4 teams in the playoffs with a chance of all 4 being able to make it to the Semi Finals and a potential Big 12 rematch with the winners going to the National Championship.

                        The SEC are the biggest losers, as the 1 time conference to be considered the best in all of college football gets just 1 team into the playoffs..

                        Matchup to watch.. All eyes in the 1st Round will be on #6 Tulane. Can the Green Wave bounce back from their Pac-12 defeat to hand Maryland a 2nd straight loss and advance to take on K-State.

                        Also will Oregon survive a upset bid by SMU to advance and take on Boise State in a rematch of last year's Semi Final game in which Oregon won and went on to win the National Title game.

                        G5 ranked teams are my secondary loser choice.. (11-2) Cincinnati or (10-3) Louisiana to me both deserve a shot in the playoffs over SMU and Maryland who both have 4 loss's. I would even say (11-2) Liberty too..

                          FIU WILL FACE WASHINGTON STATE!!

                          With Conference Championship Week complete and the 12 team Playoffs set the rest of the Bowls have finished making their picks as (8-4) FIU will head to New Orleans to take on (7-5) Washington State.

                          WASHINGTON STATE PREVIEW

                          Well WSU did lost 5 games this season several of those were against Top-25 opponents as they lost in Week 1 vs #13 Virginia Tech (26-21) , then in Week 5 @ #6 Tulane (28-21), and then lost road games @ Oregon State (24-21) and Fresno State (18-15) as well as 1 common opponent with FIU.

                          In week 7 WSUS hosted USF and lost (28-14).

                          WSU however also has a pretty major victory as 1 of just 2 teams to beat Boise State (38-35) and they beat instate rival Washington (35-33) in Seattle.

                          **Also to be noted. In this Dynasty, QB John Mateer (86 Ovr) does not transfer to Oklahoma but is still in Pullman and on the season finished #3 in the Heisman voting throwing for 3309 yds with 32 TD and just 6 INT. His #1 target was JR WR Carlos Hernandez (80 Ovr) who had 70 rec for 1114 yds and 17 TD

                              Great in-depth reporting. Good luck vs Washington State. Great first season for the FIU squad, something to build on.
