LEFT - Already trailing 35-14 Wake Forest got desperate, which usually spells trouble against the Orange's defense, resulting in this INT.
CENTER - DeMarco Mount lead the Deacons down the field to pull within a field one score with just 45 seconds remaining, but what was thought to be a close game quickly got out of hand.
RIGHT - Someone should send a memo to the Wake Forest DC, maybe put a corner on WR Dalton Wear? He was left uncovered on this 43 yard post to push the Syracuse lead to 42-14.

Syracuse, NY. - Sixth-ranked Syracuse continued its dominant run with a convincing 49-17 victory over previously unbeaten Wake Forest, bouncing back in emphatic fashion after their season-opening loss. The Orange imposed their will on both sides of the ball, pulling away in the second half behind a stellar performance from quarterback Immanuel Hendrix.

Hendrix set the tone early, capping Syracuse’s opening drive with a seven-yard touchdown run. Wake Forest answered with a one-yard touchdown pass from DeMarco Mount to Paul Canaday, but the Orange struck back quickly, with Dalton Wear hauling in a 10-yard touchdown from Hendrix to take a 14-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter followed a similar pattern, as Hendrix punched in another short rushing touchdown before Mount and Canaday connected again, this time from three yards out, to trim the deficit to 21-14 with just 45 seconds left in the half. Rather than playing it safe, Hendrix and the Syracuse offense responded aggressively. The sophomore quarterback found Cam Darr for 21 yards and Spencer Everett for 34 before delivering a 20-yard strike to Roy McCleon for a crucial touchdown, restoring a two-score advantage at the break.

Syracuse wasted no time seizing complete control in the third quarter. A 65-yard bomb to tight end Jeffrey Franz set up Lee Browner’s 10-yard rushing touchdown, pushing the lead to 35-14. Wake Forest, desperate to stay in the game, took a deep shot on their next possession, but cornerback Kevin Schweitzer intercepted Mount’s pass. On the very next play, Hendrix recognized Wake’s defensive alignment and audibled to a verticals concept. When the lone cornerback shaded toward Everett, Hendrix delivered a pinpoint pass to a wide-open Wear for a 43-yard touchdown, effectively sealing the game at 42-14.

The Syracuse defense, already stout in the first half, suffocated Wake Forest in the second, allowing just 81 total yards while racking up four sacks (six total) and forcing the Schweitzer interception. The Demon Deacons managed only a 30-yard field goal in the fourth quarter, while Syracuse added one last touchdown on a five-yard run from Larry Pettis.

Hendrix was masterful, finishing 14-of-20 for 261 yards with three passing touchdowns and two rushing scores. His command of the offense and ability to exploit mismatches proved too much for Wake Forest.

“Funny how football works sometimes,” head coach Nash Savage quipped after the game. “Tennessee beat us in Week 1, Wake Forest beat them last week, then we blow the doors off Wake Forest today.”

Off the field, Syracuse continued to win on the recruiting trail, securing commitments from five-star linebacker Craig Pettis and four-star middle linebacker Dillon Hooker.

The Orange will now head into a bye week before hosting rival Boston College.

We got another two commitments after the WF game bringing out total to 13 (4 - 5* / 9 - 4*), although we did lose out on a 5* MLB to the Hokies. That and a CB to the Ducks are the only targets we've lost at this year

And yes, lots of squgglies and the entire offense was COLD for most of the 1st half. We finally got a big play to start the 3rd quarter and the cold status went away.

LEFT - Jason Veasy throwing the offensive lineman out of the way for the 1st of his two sacks.
CENTER - LB Timmy Vernon joined the starting lineup at outside linebacker, previously the 3rd string MLB, and continues to make big plays with the safety to go with two sacks.
RIGHT - Cam Darr putting in work on special teams, forcing the fumble that LB Clay Mooney would return as part of a 23 point 2nd quarter.

Syrcuse, NY. - Seventh-ranked Syracuse continued its dominance over Boston College with a resounding 68-3 victory, extending their two-year scoring margin over the Eagles to a staggering 139-6. The Orange defense set the tone early and never let up, forcing five sacks, two interceptions, and two fumbles in yet another lopsided rivalry win.

The game started with a rare miscue from Syracuse, as running back Lee Browner fumbled on his first carry, setting up Boston College at midfield. However, any hopes of an upset were quickly extinguished when Heisman winner Jason Veasy bulldozed through a double-team to sack the Eagles’ quarterback, pushing them out of field goal range. Syracuse capitalized on the ensuing possession when Immanuel Hendrix found tight end Jeffrey Franz for a 44-yard touchdown, breaking the game open early.

Boston College’s struggles only worsened in the second quarter. Freshman receiver Cam Darr made an impact on special teams, forcing a fumble that linebacker Clay Mooney scooped up and returned 13 yards for a defensive touchdown. Linebacker Timmy Vernon, who recently transitioned from third-string middle linebacker to starting outside linebacker, continued to shine, recording a safety with a tackle for loss and adding two sacks to his stat sheet. The Eagles finally got on the board with an 18-yard field goal from Emmett McKenzie, but Hendrix quickly responded with another deep strike to Franz, this time from 37 yards out, to push the halftime lead to 33-3.

Syracuse dominated the second half with relentless efficiency. Browner atoned for his early fumble with a pair of 17-yard touchdown runs in the third quarter, extending the lead to 47-3. The Orange continued pouring it on in the fourth, with Dalton Wear returning a punt 85 yards to the house, followed by two short rushing touchdowns from Larry Pettis to cap the blowout.

Despite the 68-3 final score, it was a slight improvement for Boston College compared to last season’s 71-3 defeat. However, it’s clear the Orange have a stranglehold on the rivalry, overwhelming the Eagles in all facets of the game.

In national news, the Big 12 saw a thriller as No. 4 Houston edged No. 3 Ball State in a double-overtime classic, 48-42. Ball State quarterback Anthony Elam threw a costly interception to open the second overtime, allowing Houston to seal the win with a 25-yard untouched touchdown run.

Syracuse now turns its attention to another rivalry matchup, traveling to West Virginia next week with the Ben Schwartzwalder Trophy on the line.

Thanks for checking in man! We've definitely been clicking since the early loss to Tennessee, but conference play is coming up and we've had close games with the Canes and Terrapins lately so we'll see how it shakes out.

Nash Savage Joins The Daily Orange

Bryan Pittman: The Daily Orange is back with none other than the man himself, Head Coach Nash Savage! Coach, after that tough season opener against Tennessee, you guys have been on an absolute tear. How do you shake off a loss like that and get right back to business, especially going on the road against a big-time rival the following week?

Nash Savage: Bryan, it’s football. That "Any Given Sunday" phrase exists for a reason. Tennessee was the No. 2 team in the country and the reigning SEC champ—it’s not like we dropped one to some D2 school. With the new playoff format, losing early is way better than losing late, so we took it as an opportunity to regroup. We tightened up defensively, made some key adjustments in the secondary, and it’s been paying off in a big way.

BP: Speaking of those defensive adjustments, what specifically did you change? Because let’s be real, Tennessee’s passing attack had a field day.

NS: Yeah, no question about it. That game, plus the shootout we had in the National Championship against Arkansas, exposed some weaknesses. We decided to shake things up—moved reserve corner Ian Shaw and backup safety Layne Smith into the third and fourth CB spots. That meant pulling our true freshmen, Patrick Rimpf and Sharrif Williams, out of the rotation for now. Those kids have all the talent in the world, but the play recognition wasn’t where it needed to be yet. They’ll get there with time and more film study.

BP: And you guys also tweaked things at linebacker, shifting Demetrious Vilma around, right?

NS: That’s right. We moved Vilma back to his natural weak-side linebacker spot and added another down lineman. We had him on the strong side to get him more reps, but we missed his ability to rush the passer. Timmy Vernon stepped in at outside linebacker—even though that’s not his natural position—and he’s been a difference-maker in coverage with his speed.

BP: That explains why you guys keep recruiting those fast, athletic middle linebackers. You’re finding ways to put them all over the field, right?

NS: Exactly, Bryan. People wonder why we stock up on so many middle linebackers, but notice how none of them are transferring out for playing time? That’s because they all get on the field in our 3-3-5 scheme. Whether it’s as extra linebackers or even a hybrid safety role, guys with that size-speed combo are just too valuable.

BP: Speaking of recruiting, you guys are once again pulling in a monster class—including landing the No. 1 overall player. Talk to me about this group.

NS: We’re excited about it. Alex is the kind of versatile athlete we love. He’s listed as a free safety, but at 6’2", 200 pounds, he’s got the speed and physicality to slide into a sub-linebacker role or be an extra body in the box. We also locked in two five-star linebackers—Dickens and Pettis—so we’re just continuing to reload and keep that talent pipeline flowing.

BP: And let’s not forget, you also landed what a lot of people are calling the quarterback of the future in Brenton Deablo.

NS: Well, the future is still very much Immanuel’s right now. He’s only a sophomore, and yeah, there’s a lot of speculation that he might declare for the draft after his junior year, but you never know. Look at what happened with Jason this year. We recruited Deablo with the idea of having a plan in place—whether for an early departure or in case of injury—but there’s still plenty of time to figure all that out.

BP: Have you and Immanuel had any discussions about his NFL future yet?

NS: Not yet, Bryan. Like I said, it’s early. When we get into next season, those conversations will start happening. And honestly, Kadin will probably be the one he leans on the most since he’s been in that position recently.

BP: Speaking of Kadin, any word on whether he’s getting interest as a future offensive coordinator?

NS: No direct calls about him yet, but he’s only been on staff for two years. He’s 26. The general feeling is probably that he needs more time. But if the opportunity came, I have no doubt he’d thrive. He’s got the football IQ, he relates to players, and he knows how to scheme. He’s got all the tools.

BP: So, should Tommy Reese be looking over his shoulder?

NS: Not at all. Tommy’s been outstanding since coming over from Notre Dame, and honestly, I think a head coaching job is in his near future. I was surprised Notre Dame didn’t give him a serious look when they had their opening last season, but that’s the craziness of the coaching carousel.

BP: Alright, Coach, last question. It looks like Syracuse and Miami are on yet another collision course for the ACC Championship Game. You’ve had their number for a while now, and you’ve never been shy about the trash talk. How’s the mindset going into that matchup?

NS: Well, first things first, we both have to get there. But if it comes down to it? My thoughts on Miami haven’t changed. It’s been 30 years since “The U” won a national title. Until they beat us, make it to a championship game—let alone win one—I’m going to keep talking my talk. And more importantly, we’re going to keep backing it up on the field.

BP: I don’t think anyone in Syracuse has a problem with that, Coach. Thanks for the time!

Jason Veasy terrorized the Mountaineers throughout his career and put the exclamation point on his final rivalry game against WVU with a 3 1/2 sack performance.

LEFT - Dalton Wear doesn't lose many footraces and this woudl be no exception as he outpaced the defense on the 55 yard catch and run.
CENTER - While the WVU offense left much to be desired, the defense did their part in the 1st half with three turnovers (2 INT, FF), but still faced a 30-3 defict at the half.
RIGHT - Freshman George Douzable put together a few drives, but they either ended with an interception or a 4th down turnover including this 74 yard pick six by Kevin Schweitzer after the overthrown pass.

Morgantown, WV. - Fourth-ranked Syracuse flexed its dominance on the road, dismantling West Virginia 44-3 to retain the Ben Schwartzwalder Trophy. The Orange defense suffocated the Mountaineers from start to finish, racking up seven sacks, forcing three turnovers, and allowing just 40 yards of offense in the second half.

West Virginia had early opportunities to stay competitive, forcing three first-half turnovers, including two interceptions and a strip-sack by Mike Cantwell. However, the Mountaineers failed to capitalize, managing only a 33-yard field goal from Emanuel Aldrich. Two red zone interceptions, including a devastating 78-yard pick-six by Kevin Schweitzer, killed any momentum WVU hoped to generate. Just before halftime, freshman free safety Max McGlockton added to the defensive onslaught with a safety, setting up a short field for Hendrix to find Dalton Wear for their second touchdown connection of the game, giving Syracuse a commanding 30-3 lead at the break.

The second half was all Orange as their defense continued to overwhelm the Mountaineers. After recording three sacks in the first half, Syracuse turned up the pressure even more, adding four more after halftime and holding West Virginia’s offense to a near standstill. Meanwhile, running back Lee Browner continued his stellar season, piling up 168 yards and three touchdowns on just 18 carries. Hendrix rebounded from his early miscues to finish an efficient 18-for-24 for 241 yards and two touchdowns.

On the defensive side, Jason Veasy was nearly unblockable, tallying six tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. McGlockton, continuing to establish himself in his freshman campaign, contributed six tackles, a tackle for loss, a forced fumble, and the safety that helped Syracuse pull away for good.

Elsewhere in the Big 12, Ball State bounced back from last week’s heartbreaking double-overtime loss to Houston with a dominant 48-3 road victory over Nebraska, keeping their playoff hopes alive.

Syracuse now turns its focus to a home matchup against Maryland, a program that has been a consistent challenge for head coach Nash Savage since he took over the Orange.

Congrats on the "W".. You have had alot of amazing RB's throughout your time with both USC, Ball State and now Syracuse.. I was curious where does Browner rank among your favorites..

Also I am curious is my thread updating for you because everytime I post I keep getting a Data Error message and I have to hit the back button and repost, then it tells me I am duplicating my post but yet when I go into my thread the post I just did doesn't update and on my screen it still reads yesterday as the last time it updated..

I think Seth Harris from the early USC days was my favorite. He was just a 3 down guy that could do it all. Hoag and Browner are both cut from the same cloth, explosive runners who just need some space to accelerate through. I'm still looking for a guy like Manny Velasco who is a power/speed combo, kind of like you had with Logan. Velsaco technically played 2nd fiddle to Shembo at the end, but he was just as dynamic and could have probably anchored the offense himself if it wasn't for the "Reggie" to his Lendale"

And as far as your thread, on the main page it says it hasn't updated since 2/27 morning but then I go into the thread and the last post is the Panthers beating MIA. The whole site looks like its being weird though, mine doesn't show as being updated either?

Syracuse's Pulls Away In 4th To Extend Wining Streak To 7

Dalton Wear continues to be the X factor in the passing game with his 3rd TD of the day, this 64 yard reception, gave the Orange enough of a cushion to secure the 52-35 victory.

RIGHT - Noah Teague leveraged himself to the outside to get enough room to escape on this 70 yard TD int he 4th quarter, but it was too little too late for Maryland.

Syracuse, NY. - Second-ranked Syracuse overcame a slow start and a resilient Maryland squad to pull away late for a 52-35 victory, extending its winning streak to seven games. The Orange exploded for 24 points in the fourth quarter, led by standout performances from Lee Browner and Dalton Wear, to fend off the upset-minded Terrapins.

Maryland proved to be a tough challenge early, striking first with a 6-yard touchdown run from Nick Faulk. Syracuse responded with a short touchdown pass from Immanuel Hendrix to Dalton Wear, but the Orange struggled to find rhythm for much of the first half. Hendrix threw an interception early, and the Syracuse offense sputtered before finally coming alive in the final two minutes of the second quarter. Hendrix caught fire, going 5-for-8 for 135 yards on back-to-back scoring drives, including a 32-yard touchdown to tight end Jeffrey Franz that gave Syracuse a 21-14 lead at the break.

However, Maryland quickly struck back in the third quarter, as Mike Vohasek picked off Hendrix and returned it 79 yards for a pick-six, stunning the home crowd and tying the game at 21. Hendrix rebounded on the next drive, launching a 52-yard touchdown strike to Wear, but Maryland continued to trade blows, responding with a 9-yard touchdown pass from Faulk to Shane Self, once again evening the score at 28 with 2:31 left in the third.

From there, Syracuse took control. Browner powered in a 5-yard touchdown early in the fourth to give the Orange a 35-28 lead, and after a defensive stop, Hendrix connected with Wear again—this time for a 64-yard bomb—to create some breathing room. Maryland briefly threatened when Faulk hit Noah Teague for a 70-yard score, but Syracuse shut the door with Browner’s third rushing touchdown of the game and a late field goal by Desmond Brewer.

Hendrix overcame a sluggish start, finishing 21-of-32 for 339 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions. Browner added another dominant rushing performance, racking up 211 yards and three touchdowns, bringing his season total to 16 scores. Wear torched the Terrapins’ secondary with three touchdown receptions.

Defensively, Syracuse pressured Faulk all game, tallying seven sacks, including three on Maryland’s final drive. Middle linebacker Ernie McHugh sealed the victory with a sack to end the game.

Meanwhile, Ball State continued to roll, dismantling Missouri 59-6 behind Anthony Elam’s five-touchdown performance, keeping their playoff hopes alive.

Syracuse now shifts focus to a road battle at Pittsburgh’s Acrisure Stadium next week, looking to extend its winning streak and maintain momentum in the ACC race.

Yeah I can't even see comments I put on other people's threads now and I can't see any comments left on my thread or posts I I have shared. Doesn't work for my computer or phone.
