That was a great overall performance on the road trip though. Good stuff, Bthomp.

Thompson is only rated 82, so bah. haha

Thanks man, after the Ottawa game I was starting to wonder with those two losses but things turned out great.

I'm loving OBG's newest sliders, I don't feel so pressured now to finish a game.

          Dudley Speaks

After an excellent showing on the road, Stangs went 3-2-0 for thier first road trip of the franchise, the Stangs moved up the chain to 7th spot in the East. Rookie Thompson dominated the ice by picking up 13 points (8 goals, 5 assists) while goalies Pavelec and Hedberg stopped 128 of 149 shots and posted a combined record of 3-2-0.

During the 2 day break, reporters found Dudley at the Labatt Center overseeing a morning practive.

Dudley, whats your take on rookie Nathan Thompson?

"This guy has been incredible. He plays the puck well offensively and defensively. He's a +8, plays close to 23 minutes a game on average, and his stick seems to understand the language of scoring fluently. I wish I could have a whole team of these guys, we would be unbeatable. If he keeps this up he could post up to 200 pts this year, what a guy."

Whats your take on the goalie situation?

"I didn't even know there was a goalie situation. We picked up Ramo to help us out in the long run, but currently we are very happy with Pavelec and Hedbergs play. They have a combined Sav% of 87.79, GAA of 3.60, and a 4-2-0 record. So at this point I can't see us making any moves in the goalie department."

White and Antropov have been terrible in the FO, any plans?

"That has been our archilles heel, well other then protecting the slot. Our main guy is doing well on the 1st line but those two guys are south of 40%. I wouldn't say we are looking outside for help but I do have atleast one gentlemen on the Wolves that I would't mind plugging in. But before I mention his name we will see how the next two games go."

"Now thanks guys for your time but I got to get these boys ready for the Caps so chat with you later."

            Back at Home, Stangs Dominate

Back at home for the 2nd home game of the franchise, the game openned with an important appearence and a quick ceremony.

Three game pucks from the Stangs inaugaral home game were specially given out to three lucky players from the Great One himself, Wayne Gretzky.

"Wayne is the inigma of class. His contribution to hockey has gone way above the call of the ice. He didn't have to come and do this but he did, what class." Jagr.

Wayne. "When Dudley asked me to be here for this important ceremony I couldn't refuse. Not everyone gets a chance to present something to three guys that surely deserve it. I'm glad to be here."

The three pucks were for Bogosian, the first goal of the franchise, Thompson, his first goal of his NHL career, and Jagr, for hic 1600th point. The first two pucks will fashion a 1 while the last one will have a 1600. Each puck will be handed out by Gretzky and a photgraph will be taken. What an honour.

"When I heard gretzky was going to be at the game I was euphoric. But to find out that he was going to present something to us I was floored." Thompson

"I had dreams all my childhood of being on the ice with the Great One. Now I have my chance, eventhough its just a ceremony." Bogosian

"He was dominate in the league and I had the pleasure to play agianst him early in my career. its great to see him here." Jagr

If the ceremony wasn't enough to get the London fans roaring then a 4 to 2 lashing of the Caps sure did, as Thompson lead the squad with 2 goals.

"It was bedlam in thier, you couldn't hear yourself think. Even before the puck dropped you could tell the Caps were scared." Thompson

This time the opposing team would score the first goal, as Backstrom (2nd of the season) swatted in a rebound off of Ovechkins shot at 1.29 in the 2nd.

"Even after I scored that goal the crowded didn't quiet, it was weird." Backstrom.

That lonely goal would stand for no more then 4 mins of play before rookie Thompson (9th goal of the season) tied it up at 5:54 in the 2nd on a individual effort.

"I had to get that goal back, there was no question about it. I told Dudley I would get us the goal, and well I delivered." Thompson.

The Caps would take the lead again with a goal by Laich (1st of the season) at 12:17 in the 2nd but it wasn't enough as the Stangs went on a 3 goal scoring spree in the end of the 3rd.

"It was incredible. First I scored, then Thompson, and then Bergfors. What a rush." Antropov.

As mentioned Antropov (4th of the season) got the tieing goal at 17:12 followed by goals at 18:20 by Thompson (10th goal of the season, 2nd of the night) and an EN at 19:37 by Bergfors (1st goal of the season).

Hedberg stopped 10 of 12 shots to record his 2nd win of the season.

The Stangs get tomorrow off before taking on the Sharks (5-5-0) at home on the 24th. Pavelec will man the pipes as its rumored that Hedberg has recently complained about a stiff leg and will sit out the next few games.

              Excellent 3rd.

Surprised White is doing bad in FO but I would consider moving Antropov to wing. Jim Slater is really good at faceoffs but not much else.

Yeah I am kind of in a pickle here. I might have to pick up someone from FA, which to be honest was not what I wanted to do. Ow well.

                      Pavelec Stops Sharks

In the Stangs 8th game of the season, 3rd at home, the crew was able to put on another outstanding performance at home beating the Sharks 3 to 0 and extended thier winning streak to 3 (Stangs have won every home game so far, 3-0-0).

Pavelec played brilliantly stopping all 23 shots faced and recorded his first shutout of the season. Gratton, a tough guy, became a scoring threat tallying 2 of the Stangs 3 goals.

"It was incredible, I was a wall against them. I could see every shot, thanks to my defence." Pavelec.

"Typically I'm out there to right some wrong or rally the guys with some brawl room dancing, but tonight was different. My stick found the puck and well everything else is history." Gratton (3 goals this season).

The game would go for 27 mins before the red light was lit by Gratton (2) at 7.08 in the 2nd. Followed by Little (3) 4 mins later.

"Kubina made a brilliant pass to Thompson, then we were on a 2 on 1 with a bad Sharks change. It was to easy, Nabokov didn't have a chance." Little.

To finish an already brilliant night, Gratton (3) would find himself with the puck deep in the Sharks zone, Nabokov mis-handling a weak shot, allowed the Stangs to take a 3 nothing lead at 2.45 in the 3rd which would stand to the end of the game.

"I remember last year playing for the Flyers I had one goal all season, now I have 3 in 7 games. Wow how things change." Gratton (2 goals tonight.

The Stangs will get 1 day off before suiting up to take on the Caps (6-4-0) on Oct 29th, The Stangs won the last time these two teams met by a score of 4 to 2. With Hedberg still questionable Pavelec will get the nod as the Stangs head into their 8th game of the season.

                        Stangs Shuffle Lines

8 games into the season (6-2-0) and GM/Coach Dudley has made some adjustments to the bottom 3 lines. Here is what happend:

                        Point 1:

"To win you have to win faceoffs and to be honest only Thompson and Peverly are carring the weight. Things have to change." Dudley.

A few centers are being shuffled around with some AHL call ups as FO efficiency has lacked as of late. 2nd line Antropov, 3rd line Peverly, and 4th line White are the subjects of these changes. The changes goes as follows:

                        Kozlov - Peverly - Bergfors
                        MacCarthur - Krog - Afinogenov
                        Gratton - Reasoner - Armstrong

                        Point 2:

"Certian players have not proven to me that they want to be here, so I have either benched or demoted them. Kozlov, who is paid a substantial amount, only has 1 point in 8 games, this is not acceptable, so he's demoted. MacCauthur is not only dismal in the FO but also only has 1 point in 8 games, so I am benching him. I have also decide to move Antropov to the left wing on the 2nd line, I am very impressed with his 5 point contribution and eventhough I am weary about his FO% I am overall happy with him. Hopefully these moves jive these guys, if not then off they go." Dudley.

                        Antropov - Peverly - Bergfors
                        Kozlov - Krog - Afinegenov
                        * MacCathur Scrated

                        Key Stats for Call-ups:

                        Reasoner: 8g, 0-2-2, +3, 4 pims 56 FO%
                        Krog: 8g, 1-0-1, -1, 4 pims, 57 FO%

Hope these changes work. Reasoner is a great FO guy and good grinder. Maybe Krog will work, although he's never really been an NHL producer.

MacArthur out works. Not a fan of him.
