Ryan Murray got into his 1st NHL fight when he and C. Atkinson with toe to toe early in the 3rd period.....Mrazek had another strong game in net.

    Player observations from Coach Alcide:
These are players who made their pre-season debut against Columbus

Gustav Nyquist- fast and quick, very smart on the ice…willing to go to the dirty areas and come back on defense.
Riley Sheahan- big kid who can skate….needs work on the offensive side but looks to be a good two-way forward
    .

Adam Almqvist- smart player in the defensive zone, looked good but will need to add weight and strength to his frame. Made some nice plays.

Like that you are allowing the younger players to play in the the pre season, it's vital to some players development.

before i wouldn't have any young players playing in the pre season because i would just sim right through it and didn't want to take the time to change the line ups every game lol.

But for this dynasty i wanted to play more games than i simmed so i decided to play all the pre-season games and have a different lineup each game. Their maybe a couple players that will play every game (i.e. Ryan Murray i want to see what he can do). I am having fun going this route for pre-season games when most of the lineup is the kids it makes for a little tougher game lol.

Detroit makes a few roster moves prior to their last pre-season game against Chicago.

The Wings have assigned the following players:

            Calle Jarnkrok
            Teemu Pulkkinen
            Adam Almqvist
            Jokiam Andersson
            Alexi Marchenko
            Riley Sheahan
            Landon Ferraro
            Brenden Mikklson
            Petr Mrazek

Wings lineup for final pre-season game with Chicago
            V. Filppula- P. Datsyuk- T. Jurco
            J. Franzen- H. Zetterberg- G. Nyquist
            T. Tatar- D. Helm- D. Cleary
            J. Abdelkader- P. Regin- J. Boll

            N. Lidstrom- I. White
            N. Kronwall- B. Smith
            R. Murray- J. Kindl

            J. Howard
            J. McDonald

            Pre-game notes:
Lidstrom and Howard will play their 1st pre-season games...Tomas Jurco, Ryan Murray , Tomas Tatar and Gustav Nyquist surived the teams 1st roster cuts.... The team wants to see more of the kids playing along side the starters.

Henrik Zetterberg hurt in the 2 pre season game returns
“It was just a bruise shoulder, I probably could have come back in the game but the coach and training staff held me out just to be safe.”
            Zatta talking about his injury.

Observations from one Detroit Free Press writer:
I think Ryan Murray has out played Jonathan Ericsson and should start open night.
Nyquist and Tatar I think have shown enough to earn spots on the team. Tomas Jurco play during the pre-season is making things hard for Ken Holland…does he go back to juniors or stay with the club in Detroit??? I think Holland and coach Alcide will use this final game to decide Jurco’s fate. I would say that Jurco has looked good, the points have been their so far but you can see the skill level he brings.
Mrazek had a fantastic pre-season but i think the team wants him in Grand Rapids to get alot of playing time. He will be the starter for sure so he would get starter mins in GR compared to backup mins in the NHL.

Re: Detroit Redwings BEaGM (a re-start)

                  Detroit News:

Detroit wrapped up pre-season play last night with a 3-0 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks. The Wings dressed mostly a starting lineup while the Hawks dressed most of their youngsters, prospects. Which lead to the Wings have their way in the game.

A couple young prospects for the Wings played in the final game to give the Wings staff a final look and determine what course of action to take. The Wings top pick in the 2012 draft dman Ryan Murray made enough of an impression that the Wings decided to put him in the opening night line up.
He was a force all pre-season, he was one of maybe 2 or 3 players that played in all the games. He isnt the fastest dman but he is smart positionally. He is also brings a physical presence to our blueline.
Coach Alcide talking about his rookie blueliner

Along with Murray, rookies Gustav Nyquist and Tomas Tatar also earned spots with the Wings. Tatar lead the wings with 4 goals in the pre-season while Nyquist finished 1st in points with 8.

Another rookie trying to make the team 19yo Tomas Jurco who played in 2 games on a line with Filppula and Datsyuk finished with 4pts (1goal, 3assist). He looked pretty good but Coach Alcide and Ken Holland decided the best thing for Jurco right now is to start the season in Grand Rapids.

Oh he will be back with the team soon, very soon. You can see his skill level. He has speed, quickness in his game but right now he just needs to add strength. He was pushed around during pre-season. He is a top 6 player and its better for him to get top line mins in Grand Rapids then 4th line mins in Detroit.
Ken Holland on the decision to send Jurco to GR.

Detroit released their opening night lineup against Nashville

*I may go into the market looking for a top 6 RW and see what i can find. I dont feel too confident with Cleary as my top RW. i didnt want to move nyquist up cause he has very good chemistry with his fellow swedes franzen and zetterberg. Or i may just stick with cleary and just wait on Jurco to take the spot eventually.

                        Quick Preview
Nashville finished last season as top dog in the West, made it to the semis but was bounced out by Columbus in 6 games. They come in after winning in St. Louis 3-2 two nights ago. They look to contuine their winning ways at the Joe.

Detroit missed out on the playoffs last season, very disappointing season to say the least in hockey town. The Wings goal this season is to start strong and finish even stronger (Stanley cup LOL!!!) and make the playoffs. They went through some changes in the off season. They finished the preseason strong (4-0-0) but things are different when it starts for real.

i think i will need it. not quite sure how my top line will do. There was no one worth signing during free agency. I wanted to upgrade the RW but no one really interested me. So i am going with Cleary while waiting on Jurco.

*my plan for this season is to play 10 games and then sim 10 games throughout the season. then provide updates after 10 games. I may try and do a game by game update when i playing the games we will see how that goes.
