Tavares, LeClaire represent team in Dallas.
detroitvipers.com - January 27th, 2014 - By Vic Venom
Dallas, TX - The American Airlines Arena in a Dallas Texas played host to the 2013 - 2014 NHL All Star Game this year the Vipers were able to send two starters their way.
Assistant captain John Tavares and goaltender Pascal LeClaire were selected to the Eastern Conference team this year. Tavares centered the second line while Pascal LeClaire was the starting goaltender for the team.
While the team lost the All Star game to the Western Conference, John Tavares did get an assist on the first goal of the game for the Eastern Conference while Pascal Leclaire only allowed 2 goals in the two periods of work on this night.Comment

Quick Rookie Update for ya guys. After looking through roster and team stats of both squads I found out that only 3 of them are playing this year. Others are still college or CHL players. Ryan Strome is the only one on the main roster playing in 19 games with 2 goal and 2 assists so far. Andrey Pedan and Johan Sundstrom are down in Bridgeport right now.
The rest of the rookies drafted this season are as follows: Kirill Kabanov, Lane Scheidl, John Persson, Lukas Sutter & Mitchell Theoret are all still in the CHL right now.Comment

VIPERS STILL SECOND HEADING INTO NEW YEAR!
Detroit leads Pittsburgh by 3 but still trails New Jersey.
detroitvipers.com - January 1st, 2014 - By Vic Venom
Auburn Hills, Mi - Happy New Year and for the Detroit Vipers it seems to be like ground hogs day for them as they finish another month in second place looking up at the New Jersey Devils in the standings.
New Jersey leads the Atlantic Division by eight points over Detroit right now. The beginning push towards where they will head into the playoffs starts this month. Many believe they can still catch New Jersey.
Speaking of blowing away the rest of the pack, The Toronto Maple Leafs are on their way to locking up the Northeast division. They lead second place Boston by eight points. That is two points better then they finished last month.
Tampa Bay has regained the lead in the Southeast division but are now followed by the Washington Capitals who are five points back. Here is a look at the Eastern Conference Standings...

Over in the Western Conference, The St. Louis Blues remained atop of the Central Division for the second straight month but are now followed by the Detroit Red Wings who are 3 point backs.
In the Northwest, Vancouver still remains the team to beat and lead a surprising second place Edmonton Oilers team by seven points heading into the new year.
Meanwhile in the Pacific, This could be the tightest division race of them all. Anaheim leads the division by one point over San Jose, Phoenix and Los Angeles. A three way tie for second place. Here is a full look at the Western Conference Standings...

DETROIT CLOSING IN ON NEW JERSEY!
Lead shrinks to five and playoff push begins.
detroitvipers.com - February 1st, 2014 - By Vic Venom
Auburn Hills, Mi - The Detroit Vipers have closed in alittle bit more on first place in the Atlantic division after January but still have along way to go. Detroit is still in second place but now only trail by five points heading into February.
In the Northeast division, there maybe no catching the Toronto Maple Leafs for first place. They have almost doubled their lead over Boston in the division leading by 14 points. Toronto is 18 points better this season then at the same time last season.
Over in the Southeast it's who wants first place? The Carolina Hurricanes are now in first with 68 points, one point better then the Lightning at 67. Here is a look at the full standings in the Eastern Conference..

In the Western Conference, The St. Louis Blues still hold a slim lead in the Central division over both Chicago and Detroit. This makes three months straight for them. Are they playoff bound?
The Northwest division has never changed it's leader all year long as the Vancouver Canucks still hold the top spot but for the second month in a row now it's still the Oilers. Edmonton is 3 points back of Vancouver right now.
Over in the Pacific division, Anaheim remains in first place by has finally spaced things out for alittle breathing room. They lead second place San Jose by 2 points. Here are the full standings for the Western Conference...

Re: Welcome To The Snake Pit!!
PLAYOFF PUSH BEGINS!!
Detroit now chasing Pittsburgh heading into March.
detroitvipers.com - March 1st, 2014 - By Vic Venom
Auburn Hills, Mi - As the trade deadline looms in just three days, The Detroit Vipers had bad timing for a losing streak to happen. New Jersey collasped in Feburary and while Detroit did enough to stay second. Pittsburgh shot past them and took over first place in the division. Does Detroit have what it takes to chase them down or are they destin to be the fourth seed again?
The Northeast division all but now belongs to the Toronto Maple Leafs going into March. It's really their division to lose as they finished up February the same way they went in, leading now by 15 points over Boston.
The revolving door known as first place in the Southeast has welcomed a new member to it's ranks and the Washington Capitals are now in first place in the division. They lead both Carolina and Tampa Bay by three points. Here are the full standings in the Eastern Conference...

In the Western Conference, The three month reign of the Blues is over as the Blackhawks now sit atop the Central division. The Blues have dropped to third place behind the Detroit Red Wings.
Still no change at the top of the Northwest division but they maybe in alittle danger now as the Minnesota Wild are just two points back now as the Oilers have slipped to third.
In the Pacific, The defending Stanley Cup Champions are now in first place in the division just a point ahead of the Phoenix who are in second. The Los Angeles Kings are on the verge of not making the playoffs right now but March has been a month of turn around for most teams. Here is the full standings in the Western Conference...

VIPERS MAKE TWO DEALS ON DEADLINE!!
Detroit picks up draft pick and LW in deals.
detroitvipers.com - March 5th, 2014 - by Vic Venom
Auburn Hills, Mi - The trade deadline has come and gone for the 2013 - 2014 season and while Detroit did not make a huge splash in the market like they did last season. They did make a couple of deals to improve a very strong team.
The first deal saw Detroit send RFA Jesse Joensuu to the Montreal Canadiens for the Canadiens second round pick in the 2014 draft. Joensuu has been on hold out with the team this season.
The second deal saw a bit of a shocker as the Detroit Vipers sent center Frans Nielsen and a 2016 draft pick to the Ottawa Senators for LW Milan Michalek. Michalek has 43 points so far this season and should bolster the line up that much better.
"The deal with Ottawa kinda came up as a surprise really. We weren't looking to deal Frans (Nielsen) but needed to improve at the Left Wing spot and when the deal was brought up it took us a couple of minutes to decided if it was the right thing for the team or not. We felt that in the long run it would be best for the team." said GM Rick Dudley.Comment

VIPERS ON VERGE OF PRESIDENTS TROPHY!!
Penguins, Devils collapse while Vipers catch fire.
detroitvipers.com - April 1st, 2014 - By Vic Venom
Auburn Hills, Mi - While the expression for the month of March is usually "In like a lion and out like a lamb", The Detroit Vipers ate the lamb and snake bit the Lion after blowing up the month of March with an 11 - 3 - 1 record and over taking first place in the Atlantic. Detroit also put itself in some rare company as they are in a race with Carolina for first place in the NHL.
The playoff race in the Eastern Conference is pretty much locked up with the exception of the final spot. If the Playoffs started today The Detroit Vipers would be the number one seed and would face off with the Florida Panthers in the first round.
Toronto has become the only team in the NHL to wrap up a division championship after becoming the Northeast Champions. They still lead the Boston Bruins by 16 points overall in the division.
Carolina has jumped back into the lead in the Southeast division and maybe set to lock it up in a couple of games. They have a five point lead on Washington for first in the division. here is a look at the Eastern Conference Playoff race going into April...
Eastern Conference Standings - Updated: Apr 1, 2014 EAST PLAYOFF RACE W L OTL PTS GF GA 1. x-Detroit Vipers 50 23 5 105 233 196 2. x-Carolina Hurricanes 47 21 8 102 243 195 3. y-Toronto Maple Leafs 42 29 7 91 215 208 4. x-Pittsburgh Penguins 48 25 5 101 202 162 5. x-Washington Capitals 45 25 7 97 233 203 6. x-Tampa Bay Lightning 44 26 6 94 214 187 7. x-New Jersey Devils 44 28 4 92 211 202 8. Over in the Western Conference, Nothing is locked up and everything right now except for a few teams are up for grabs.
The Minnesota Wild have the top spot not only in the Northwest division by in the Western Conference as well. They have Edmonton on their heels but it looks like a lock for Minnesota to win that division.
Chicago leads the Central division and is second behind Minnesota for the number one seed in the Conference. Their bigger worry has to be the St. Louis Blues who are just a point behind them for first place in the division.
What a shock a team we thought would not make the playoffs comes roaring back. The Los Angeles Kings are tied with San Jose for the top spot in the Pacific division and the Kings hold the number three seed right now. Can they hold off San Jose to take the division title again? here is a look at the Western Conference Playoff Race...
