I think the Organization is really lacking in players that are Grinders or Enforcers. I could have sent down Brouwer for the Playoffs, but he would have taken the spot of a more skilled player.

I've had Logan Brown, who is a big Power Forward stick up for his more skilled teammates. I may have to look for someone at the Draft.

Yeah sending Brouwer would be equivalent to picking up someone like Ferland. He'd be good for NHL, but a waste in the AHL

Someone around 72-75 overall should be good for a 3rd/4th liner in the AHL. Presuming you wouldn't have too many super skilled players on those lines

BELLEVILLE DOMINATES GAME 3

Back on home ice for Game 3, Belleville settled in and got into a groove. Despite going down a goal early, the team didn't waiver and continued shooting and continued hitting. Eventually the goals came, and they didn't stop. Belleville peppered Bibeau in net, firing 46 shots on net and outhit San Jose 39 to 33.

Chlapik scored twice and was awarded 1st Star of the game. His first goal came at 11:22 into the second period, when a cross crease pass from Szwarz found him all alone for an easy redirection. His second came in the third period. Brannstrom feed him a pass in the top circle for a quick one-timer that Bibeau had no chance to see, giving the Sens a 5-2 lead.

Condon continued to play stellar in Goal, making 34 Saves, including a sprawling glove save to keep San Jose from going up 3-1.

CHLAPIK NETS GAME 4 WINNER

For the first time in four games, the Belleville Senators opened the scoring. It happened late in the 1st Period, after Formenton won a battle for the puck down low and was able to feed Wellmore in the slot. Wellmore made no mistake roofing his 10th over Bibeau giving the Senators a 1-0 lead.

Drake Batherson, who had been playing really great hockey took a very late hit from McCarthy about 10 minutes into the game. Batherson lay on the ice in physical duress, Wolanin immediately went to their star players aid by jumping McCarthy and pummeled him to the ice. The damage had been done though, as Batherson was helped off the ice and didn't play the rest of the game.

San Jose netted the equalizer late in the second period. Etem and Hensick broke into the attacking zone, with Hensick finding the trailer in Kellman, leaving a solid shooting lane to bury a snapshot. San Jose went ahead in the third. Jaros tried to lay our McCarthy with a big hit and missed allowing the free man (Blichfeld) to take the pass and slide it between the legs of Condon.

With less then a minute to go, Belleville pulled their goalie and Gaborik hopped on as the extra attacker. Wellmore would skate hard to the net and get a shot off but hit the post, miraculously the puck would deflect to Formenton. He would make no mistake from that distance and bury the tying goal with 17 seconds left.

More rough stuff in the first overtime. Prout would drill Gaborik from behind, and Formenton would come to his aid, Dropping his mitts with Prout for the Gordie Howe Hattrick. Belleville would get the last laugh however, as less then a minute later Chlapik would bury a snapshop past Bibeau off the rush for his 3rd goal in two games.

The Belleville Senators now have a stranglehold on the series as it shifts back to San Jose for Game 5.

Thanks, I don't mind doing it for the Playoffs, as it's a good way of evaluating your talent. I got a really good feel for the different players in the system that I hope will be moving up through the system in the next year or two.

WELLMORE'S OT WINNER CAPTURES CALDER FOR BELLEVILLE
May 27th, 2022


It was another come from behind victory for the Belleville Senators, as they battled back from 3-1 to force overtime. Gaborik scored his 6th goal of the playoffs when he redirected a Thomson Pointshot down and into the net to pull them within one. Chlapik would come up clutch once again, by scoring the tying goal at 18:05 into the third. Wellmore coming off the halfwall would feed him in the slot, and he would bury the one-timer.

In overtime, Gambrell would take an ill advised Holding Penalty and on the ensuing Powerplay, the top Powerplay Unit would go to work. White would chase down the dump in and work the puck up to Formenton and spy Wellmore setting up in the high slot. A quick pass and a one-timer would all that it take, with White providing a perfect screen on Bibeau.

The Belleville Senators would take the final series 4-1. Injured Blake Batherson would be named the Playoff MVP scoring 11 goals, 12 assists in 19 games.

TWICE IS NICE!!! TAMPA BAY WINS STANLEY CUP

The Tampa Bay Lightning have captured their second Stanley Cup after defeating the Chicago Blackhawks in 7 Games.

The Lightning had to win Game 6 in Overtime to have a chance to force another game. Then had to travel to hostile territory to play Game 7. After an early two goal lead, the Blackhawks tried hard to rally back and got within one, but the Lightning managed to hold off the onslaught of shots to win 2-1 and capture Lord Stanley. Stamkos was finally able to hoist the cup.

SENS FAIL TO LAND 1ST OVERALL PICK
June 10th, 2022


The NHL held it's annual Draft Lottery. Teams that didn't make the Playoffs were able to win the 1st and 2nd Overall Picks. Finishing last in the NHL Standings however, the Ottawa Senators held a 25.6% chance to win followed by Nashville and Columbus.

The 2nd Overall Pick went to the San Jose Sharks. Who were in 11th and had a minuscule 0.5% at winning. Fortunately, for the Senators, they have the rights to this pick via the Karlsson trade.

The 1st Over Pick was won by the Columbus Blue Jackets. Columbus was previously 3rd, and thus drops Ottawa to 3rd Overall. This wouldn't be the first time in Senators history that they failed to secure the 1st Overall Pick after finishing last in the standings.

The Senators will now picks 2nd and 3rd in this deep draft. Will they try to trade up to select Lafreniere or possibly trade down?
