      Summary:
Reggina would return home for a battle against a Livorno team that was looking to get a jump start on their season with a win. Livorno would come out on all cylinders early, getting a quick goal on a nice cross from Paulinho that fell in front of Luci. He would volley it home for the 1-0 lead. Alas, that would be the only highlight of the day for Livorno, as Reggina took control and never looked back. D'Alessandro would put in a right footed bomb off a through pass from Allen in the 22'. Later, Allen would get a goal of his own, scoring on a slow roller that would sneak into the net because the keeper couldn't see. Ceravolo would finish them off late, as Allen brought the ball up the wing and sent in a high cross that Ceravolo would head home. Allen would be pulled late after aggravating his shoulder injury, but it wouldn't affect the outcome as Reggina would go on to finish the game with the 3-1 victory.

The performances against Egypt and Brazil should solidify Klinsmann's selection of Allen for the World Cup. Keep this form up and we should be in for a fun summer with a possible call from AC Milan and Allen in the World Cup!

        Nicely done!

Yeah Allen should be set with the USMNT. It will be good to play with better teammates on AC Milan, but I have to admit I'm going to miss Reggina. Thanks for following. I'll try to keep posting more today. Thanks again.

            Summary:
Reggina dominated Bari in every facet of the game from time of possession to shots on goal. Bari backtracked into their own territory for most of the match, but they had one weapon on their side that frustrated their opposition, and his name was Pena. Pena is the goalkeeper for Bari, and he had an incredible match. He had 5 brilliant saves, including a full extension diving save that denied a rocket by D'Alessandro. Bari would not let their keeper's effort go to waste, as DeFalco would head home a cross from Hysenbelliu in the 39'. Reggina would try to attack to even the game up late, but Bari would counter attack and get another goal to put the game out of reach in the 82'. Aprile would break away from the back line and beat the keeper one on one for the final goal.

Serie B Promotion Race: Parma vs. Reggina Round 2
              v.

The Serie B season is drawing to a close, but that doesn't mean that we are any closer to knowing which teams will be promoted as The battle for the top spots is tighter then ever. Two of these teams, #6 Reggina and #2 Parma, would square off to see which team could climb up the table on this sunshine filled March day.

The match would begin with Parma coming out the gate on fire. New addition Claudemir manned the center midfield position, and he barked out orders like a general to his team, smoothly passing the ball around the Reggina penalty area. He would first hit Pabon who would glide into the box, then kick it back out to Claudemir. With this small window, Claudemir would send a through ball to Sansone on the other side. The leader in league goals would not miss from there, putting Parma up early 1-0.

The game would continue in Parma's favor as they pressure Reggina from all sides. Pabon made Barilla look silly as he spun around the defender with ease. He got to cocky though, letting Reggina have a bit of daylight as Hetemaj led the counter attack. The ball came to Allen and he sprinted towards the opposing side. Parma defender Rossi had no choice but to bring Allen down from behind causing the referee to stop the match and give Rossi a well deserved yellow card.

This was the boost that Reggina needed, as they kept control of the possession on Parma's side for most of the first half after this point. This would be a crucial moment, as the long build up wiould allow Reggina their first scoring opportunity of the match. After the long build up, Hetemaj would find Camilleri pushed way forward up the wing. The defender looked like a natural playing up front, cutting left and sending in the perfect cross. Campagnacci wouldn't let it go to waste, heading it in past the keeper for the goal. The half would end with a 1-1 draw.

Just as Reggina controlled the end of the first half, Parma would do the same at the beginning of the second. Their aggressive front line, with Jorge Henrique, Pabon, and Sansone would continue to give Reggina fits, but Camilleri held his line firm. In the 63', Pabon would break free. Claudemir would send in the through ball and Pabon would try to finish, but Carvallo would make an amazing diving save to keep the game even. After the ensuing corner, Claudemir would send his team forward again, taking a chance on his own from outside the box that was just wide of the net. Jorge Henrique would try another, but Ely stood strong and got in front of the shot. It was definitely an impressive performance by the Reggina defense to kepe the gave level.

The defensive effort would pay off for the team, as Reggina would counter attack just before the end of the match. Armellino, who subbed in for Hetemaj, would find Allen up the wing. Allen would kick it back out to Ceravolo up top, then back to Armellino. Armellino would send it into the box to D'Alessandro who would turn and then cut back left. The shot would come off of his left foot and sneak just inside the post for a gem of a shot in the 82'. Reggina would hold on from here, winning the match and sending the home fans into a frenzy. This would be a key win for Reggina, as this would be the first of three tough top half of the table matches.

                Summary:
This was a big match for both teams, as Cesena came in as the number 2 team in the table. Reggina was up for the challenge after winning a tough one against Parma at home. This game in Cesena's stadium was a statement game. Even though on paper these teams looked similar, Reggina played like the better team throughout, holding onto possession for 60% of the contest. They would get things started with a goal in the 22'. Allen would bring the ball up the middle on a sprint. Allen would pass to D'Alessandro to his right would would then find Ceravolo in the box. Ceravolo send a curling shot to the corner and Reggina would be up 1-0. In the second half, it would be more of the same as Allen would get loose from the defense, spinning to his right and letting go a shot at point blank range for the goal. Reggina would take the 2-0 lead and the win, further propelling them up the table.

                  Summary:
On fire. That is the only way to describe this Reggina team. They have run through Parma and Cesena and were looking to make Ascoli their next victim. They wouldn't get started well as Reggina marched right down the pitch. Allen would feed the ball to Hetemaj who would dribble up then cut to the net. The shot never came however, as instead Hetemaj left off the ball for a streaking Rizzato would who put the ball into the net in the 8'. The restart wouldn't go well for Ascoli, as Allen stole the ball and went right down the field again. He would cut to the wing and find Rizzato once again inside the box for another goal. Ascoli would try to come back, putting pressure on Reggina late in the first period. Lucioni would take down Feczesin in the penalty area for a yellow card, and the referee would award the penalty shot. Torres would put it home, bringing the score to 2-1 at the half. The second half would restart with Ascoli on the attack, bringing their midfield forward to press the action. The striker Capece would get a shot late, send ing a rocket from outside the box, but Carvallo would once again step up as he has all year making a brilliant save to keep his team ahead. Allen would take the ball from here off of the punt by Carvallo and head deep into Ascoli territoy, but he was taken down and would head ot the locker room with an injury. Comi would sub in for him and add a 90' goal to give Reggina the 3-1 win. Don't look now, but with 10 games left, Reggina is on a roll.

With ten games left in Serie B, it looks like the league will be Pescara's to lose. They have built an impressive seven point lead on Reggina, and as long as they continue to hold serve they should win the title easily. Speaking of Reggina, they have charged hard up the table to rest in the second spot. They have done this mostly on the stellar play of the refocused Camilleri and the strong back line. We round out the rest of the top 5 with Siena, Parma, and Cesena respectively who are all within one point of each other. Each of these foes will look to separate themselves from one another as the Serie B season draws to a close. The battle for promotion continues on.

Re: Mr. Second Place: An Autobiographical Tale of Alvin Allen (Fifa 13)

It was a rainy day on the practice field, and I found myself grimacing through my tweaked ankle, but I was almost back in form. It was a bit painful to plant on my right foot, but nothing that would prevent me from getting back out onto the field for our final push for promotion. Ceravolo motioned me over, and I jogged his way.
“Alvin,” he said in a hushed tone. “Come with me.” He turned and walked into the Reggina main building.
I followed through the building and eventually followed him into the locker room. He stopped and sat by his locker.
“Hey man, what’s going on? You ok?” I said worried. Ceravolo was acting strange.
“Sit,” he said forcefully. I sat down next to him. “Wait,” he finished as he got up and started to leave.
“Hey, uh, what is…” I wondered, but was cut off as I saw a familiar face peek from behind some lockers.
“Hey, nipote,” he smiled affectionately, “how have you been? It has been a while.”
“Leo!” I uttered shockingly, “What are you doing here?”
“What better place to meet you than right under Vinny’s nose eh?” he laughed. “Fabio is keeping the room clear for us for a little while.”
“Fabio? I’m going to have to make fun of that a little later,” I mused. “But anyway, I need to tell you something.”
“I know already,” Leo smirked, “my location, or he kills the girl, right? Don’t worry we’ll take care of it.”
“How?” I asked, “Leo, he’s got me in a heck of a bind here.”
“Don’t worry about it. You tell him that I’ll be in Rio at this address.” Leo handed me a piece of paper. “I’ll make sure to send his spies confirmation that I’m in Brazil. Just focus on your soccer career right now. I’ll take care of the rest.” Leo went to leave.
“Wait Leo,” I spoke. “I’m sick of being left in the dark all the time. What is the big deal about Rio?”
He didn’t turn. “I can’t say right now. Just know it’s important that you let Vinny know where I’ll be. Quinn is doing the same with Theo. Remember, Alvin, you aren’t alone.” And with that he left.
It was so frustrating not having things in your control. I stared at the cement floor, lost in thought. When I finally looked up, I realize that Leo had left a copy of today’s Houston Times Courier newspaper. I read the headline on the front page and my eyes widened in shock. The headline read Houston Rockets Star’s Brother Alton Allen Released from Prison. I kept reading the article, but the tears of joy in my eyes prevented me from finishing the article. I had to call home.
As I ran around the corner with the paper in one hand and my cell phone in the other, I ran straight into Gino and fell on my butt. I looked up and there was Vinny with that always creepy smile plastered to his face.
“Why are you in such a big hurry, soccer star?” he said. “You should be out on the field preparing for the next match.”
I didn’t say a word and instead handed him the slip of paper that Leo had given me. Vinny looked at it for a second and then growled in frustration. “Search the building!” he yelled, stomping off and barking orders to Gino and his other goons as he walked down the hallway. Before he could turn the corner he stopped and glared a hole through me and then left without a word. I smiled broadly. Things were looking up after all.

                          Summary:
Reggina was riding high on their 4 game winning streak heading off to visit an always tough Modena squad who were looking to porpel themselves into the top 5 in the table. The game would begin with Modena pressuing Reggina early, moving the ball into dangerous territory. Adejo and Ely, the two backup centerbacks that got the start today, played extremely well. They worked together to feint off the attack and clear the ball when needed. Unfortunately for Reggina, their stellar play did not translate into the offense pushing forward. Allen was having trouble breaking through and he wasn't getting must help from his midfield. Finally in the 43' Reggina would break through with D'Alessandro intercepting a bad clearance by the GK Colombi and tapping it in for the score. This theme would continue into the second half as a bad clearance would be the cause of another goal. This time it was on Reggina as Rizzato kicked the clearance directly to Signori. The dangerous player sent in a through ball to a wide open Ardemagni for the equalizer. The back and forth would continue in this tough battle, with each team trying not to make a crucial mistake. Then, as it always seems for this team, Allen would step up in the clutch as he would take the ball and streak forward on a break. Allen would fire and Colombi made a diving save, but Ceravolo was their trailing to put away the rebound goal in the 85'. Reggina would escape Modena with a 2-1 victory, and a 5 game winning streak.

                            Summary:
Grosseto came into Reggina's house looking to try a different strategy to get the win. While most teams were trying to play with Reggina, Grosseto decided to play ball control for most of the game. Led by their midfielder Crimi, they took the ball early and made controlled accurate passes around the pitch, holding the ball for a steady 65% of the time in the first half. Reggina would get a couple chances in the form of Allen strikes, but they both fell wide of the target. The second half would begin with more of the same, but this time Grosseto would push forward. Sforzini would find Lupoli on a crisp through ball, but he came up short as Carvallo would deny it with a diving save. Reggina would finally capitalize on a counter attack, with Ceravolo and D'Alessandro leading the way up front. After a long build up, Ceravolo would get into the penalty area and be taken down by Iorio. The referee would administer the foul call and Allen would take the penalty kick. He wouldn't miss from there, scoring the games only goal in the 74'. Reggina would scrap for the W, and push their winning streak to an impressive 6 games.

                            Notable Allen statistics:

                              Summary:
The run is over. Reggina goes down to Padua in less than dramatic fashion in this blow out. Padua played like the better team throughout, capatializing on their opportunities and preventing Reggina from converting theirs. The first goal came in the 12', as Rispoti took the one timed pass and nailed it from outside the box into the back of the net. Allen and Campagnacci would try to get their side back into it, but it just wasn't meant to be as the shot just weren't connecting. In the 45', Adejo would take down Granoche in the box. He would take the given PK and send Padua into the half up 2-0. After the half it was more of the same as Padua continued to pressure the Reggina back line. Cutalo would take a shot from outside the box that Carvollo was not expecting, and it would sneak by him for the 3rd goal of the match for Padua. Camilleri would add a meaningless goal in the 85' for Reggina. You can't have insult without injury, and unfortunately midfielder Hetemaj would fall down awkwardly on a heading attempt and would half to be helped off the field. We have found out that it is an MCL tear and he will be out for the rest of the season. The streak has ended and with it Reggina has lost one of their better players. They will look to regroup in a match against Sassuolo in a few days.

High scoring would be an understatement for the way this game went. Reggina took out their frustration on losing to Padua on Sassuolo in epic fashion, scoring an amazing 6 goals on 11 shots. The man of the hour was Allen who scored a stellar 4 goals himself. 3 of the goals came in the first half. Allen would also add an assist to Ceravolo on a beautiful through pass that Ceravolo would one time home. The second half goal by Allen was by far one of the best of the year as he caught the keeper sneaking way out front of the net and sent in a bender from way outside the penalty area that curled home for one of the goals of the year. Reggina would take the win easily.
