I'll certainly give you a point on the scheduling issue. I would also say that Jimbo Fisher is a far superior recruiter than Mike Leach. That being said Leach has done wonders at Texas Tech and with a good defensive coordinator could be an elite coach. Sure he is a little crazy, but that isn't a bad thing so long as he wins.

Re: Mike Leach fired
Maybe I'm the only one, but I think there's a lot more here than meets the eye...something just seems fishy.
While the action is unusual, I don't find it atrocious and extremely unethical; if I was in charge of a disgruntled/whiney kid like James and the kid claimed an injury, I would also have the same skepticism that Leach had - all of you would too, especially with the vague symptons that is derived from a concussion (to which the NFL is still dealing with).
Remember the little parable - "the boy who cried wolf"? Leach probably felt he was lying or trying to get out of practicing or whatnot and attempted to make him an example for the rest of the team. He certainly didn't have the right to do what he ordered but in what way was the kid harmed besides for his dignity? Seriously?
I believe it certainly warranted a fine but I don't see it as a fireable offence. Jim Leavitt reportedly did much worse at USF but nothing has been done to him. The university was looking for the 1st chance to boot him given what happened w/Leach & UW.
I fully expect more info come out...Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: Mike Leach fired
Was James waterboarded, Manginoed, or just told to stay in an air conditioned equipment room?
High school kids get worse punishment than this. With the way some people acted, you would think James was being tortured.
Apparently players didn't like James. I think this is a case of a pansy player and his powerful daddy throwing a fit to get a coach fired.***My Teams***

Re: Mike Leach fired
But why?
Considering that Texas Tech is the school who hired Bobby Knight, this is not a good reason to fire Leach. Unless of course Leach wanted out too and this was a mutual way to make it happen with really only Adam James looking stupid.Comment

Re: Mike Leach fired
Adam rarely played, maybe a few plays a game. he complained about playing time a lot and basically acted like he was all that since his dad is Craig James. if it wasn't for Leach, he would not even be at a FBS school. apparently the WR coach(forgot his name) at the time of James' recruitment did not want Adam on the team(it was apparently known then he was a spoiled lazy brat even then). Leach overruled him.Last edited by Solidice; 12-30-2009, 02:41 PM.Comment

Re: Mike Leach fired
Why would Tech want to get rid of leach? Anyone remember Tech before Leach? Yikes. Its not like TTU has been pulling in crazy-good talent either... Leach's system is what has made it work. It seems like Leach was the best thing that ever happened to TTU football and they are firing him. I dont get it.
