Ha, Spencer Region can't get into contact with Bama coaches, names Wisconsin his new leader.

Region said he's tried recently to make contact with the Crimson Tide coaching staff, but it's been a game of phone tag of late. He said he hopes to visit Alabama sometime before the season starts, and, if not, then sometime shortly thereafter.

"I hope I can go to Alabama and pursue my dream, but if Alabama is not where I need to be then it's not where I need to be," he said. "I'm just trying to take a business-like approach."

I don't know...where to begin. Well, he's a life long Bama fan, who earlier this year was a silent commit to the Tide. Allegedly he had a falling out with the staff (word is he wanted to announce his commitment for Bama but continue to take visits and such. The staff advised him that he should just wait to announce after he took his visits and commit when he was sure, with the caveat that if he shops, they will shop and it would be no guarantee that the offer would still be there. That's how it's spun Tide side anyway) on his way to announce his decision and out of spite publicly committed to Auburn University. The looks and reactions from the crowd was priceless.

He stayed with that commitment for a few weeks and after a little while I suppose he and the staff kiss and made up. He then decided to decommit from Auburn and named Alabama his leader.

I don't know what has happened exactly but it seems like the staff is cooling on him. Maybe it's character concerns, maybe they feel good about someone else, but for whatever reason they aren't readily available to him like you would expect a staff would be when they really want a player. So now, Wisconsin is "probably" his leader, followed "probably" by Alabama.

By all accounts he's a solid guard though, especially in the run game. He'd be a really good addition to Wisconsin or Bama, but I don't think most Bama fans care anymore. In fact a lot of fans are hoping he doesn't. Personally, I just the think the kid is enjoying the attention that the recruiting process brings and is trying to milk it for as long as he can.

From what I've read it seems like if Saban wants him he'll get him. Seems like the kid would benefit from getting out of the state for college though after everything that has happened. You know we'd love to have him and it seems like he'd fit in perfectly with our offense.

Yeah I have no doubts that if the staff was really after him, they would get him. They still might, I don't know. In fact, I kind of have a hard time seeing him not committing to Bama when all is said and done but we'll see. Like I said, I just think he's enjoying the attention. You're right though, he's definitely the kind of guard you're used to seeing at Wisconsin. It'd be a great pick up.

I read that a couple days back, that's hilarious.

Region understands that sometimes Saban has problems answering the phone for high priority recruits, haha.

#1 overall prospect Jadveon Clowney has said it's down to Alabama and South Carolina. No leader, but those 2 are it.

Hmm...go to South Carolina and never even win your division. Or go to Alabama, play for an SEC title, possibly play for a national title, play in arguably the nicest stadium in all of college football, etc.

The ONLY thing Carolina has going for them at this point is being the home state. Will he be another John Fulton? Or will he be another Stephon Gilmore?

SC's depth chart isn't as crowded. Better chance to play early.
