Man, this guy. If you can't cut it at Virginia, let alone Alabama (which the transfer made sense, he wasn't going to start), what else is left?

I don't believe football had anything to do with it at UVA. I thought I read it was academics. Could be wrong since that was a few days ago.

After going to their website, it does appear to be academics. I was about to say, how can you not beat out a sophomore and two RS frosh?

Kid was OK. This is what I like to call a reverse transfer. Where a kid ends up leaving his current school and winds up at an even better school lol. Usually it's the other way around.

In all seriousness, dude was one of the anchors of Texas Tech's surprising defense that was ranked #2 in the country at one point.

Not a bad physical appearance for a DT.

Former Houston RB Charles Sims has been granted his release. According to the terms of his release he cannot transfer to another AAC school, any school on UH's 2013 schedule, or any FBS or FCS school in Texas.

He was believed to be 3rd on the depth chart. There weren't very many people that believed Sims would win the starting job.

"Restrictions similar to those imposed by Houston (recently imposed on transfers like Oklahoma State's Wes Lunt and Maryland's Danny O'Brien) have drawn criticism as being unfair to players, though the Cougars and Levine may get something of a pass since all three groups of schools named -- UH's conference mates in the American Athletic Conference, their recruiting rivals in Texas and schools on future Cougar schedules -- represent teams with which Houston is in direct competition."

UH is in the unfortunate position of having three former HC/OC's who are now HC's in our own state (Briles, Sumlin and Kingsbury). Imo we have every right to protect the interests of our program by requiring Sims to leave the state if he wants to continue his cfb career.

A coach can terminate his contract early by accepting another job anywhere, including in the AAC, on UH's schedule or in the state of Texas. But Sims, who committed to UH for four years, graduated and wants to play somewhere else is restricted from the aforementioned options.

Again. Absolutely ridiculous. Then again, I shouldn't be surprised.

TCU CB Daniel Jenkins was dismissed. Navy DT Daniel Ring left school, may transfer.Houston QB Rex Dausin transferring to FCS Lamar. Wisc DB Reggie Mitchell is reportedly transferring to Pitt( according to Wisc State Journal). DT Moses McCray had a sixth year granted, he'll be playing at Akron, and Wisc QB Danny O'Brien left, might go to Towson.

                            Found all this on Rotoworld.

That would be very interesting since Towson got a Wisconsin QB transfer last year who is now competing for the starting job this upcoming season.
