The next non-SEC champion needs to go throung the SEC champion.

Now if Oregon goes undefeated and LSU ends up being the SEC champ then I'd be okay with Oregon vs someone else since they would have already gone through the SEC champ.
So going undefeated in a BCS conference such as the PAC 12, winning your conference, and winning the National Title game isn't earning it unless you beat a SEC team?

I just think 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, etc seasons should have no impact on who goes to the 2011 National Championship.

I didn't know SEC Championship = Automatic Birth into the National Championship game.

#1 reason I want a playoff, so I never had to read SEC fans trying to rationalize that.

You should talk with the majority of the SEC fans in the south. A lot of them truly believe the FBS level should just be comprised of SEC teams(plus maybe FSU) and the national title should be decided in December at the Georgia Dome.

Amazing it is. Not surprising though.

Speaking of earning it, If a SEC team plays in the National Title game I want it to be because they earned it, not because a SEC team has won the Championship the last 5 years.

This is why I'm confused by your argument. I guess playing by far the toughest schedule in the country across the board no longer counts as earning a National Championship. Go figure a Buckeye fan trying to understand this concept.

Please show me where I said that.

All I said was a one-loss SEC team should not get into the title game over 2 undefeated BCS schools just because teams from the same conference have won a Championship the last 5 years.

I could ask you, does going undefeated in a BCS conference other then the SEC not count as earning a National Championship? I do not think it is fair or rational to say a one-loss SEC team earns the right to play for a NC game over other undefeated BCS schools, 2 months before the season.

I'm not sure what me being a Buckeye fan has to do with anything here.

Since they haven't played a game yet who knows who has the toughest schedule. I know it's difficult for certain fan demographics to grasp but there is football played elsewhere.

It's all a matter of perspective. They believe football is played out west...and out west is just past the Mississippi river.

I agree with this. The law of averages has to come in at some point. I think LSU loses the opener to Oregon, but goes on to win the SEC with a 10-2(7-1) record. Therefore, no BCS title berth for the SEC

Good sound logic. Base a completely new team (you're only allowed to stay in college for 4 years) on what a team in the past did. They're loaded beyond all belief this year. More so than any years past. The hype is legit.

This I can agree with. Well, the first part anyway. Here's why:

The west will once again without a doubt the best division in the country, but I think it's gonna wind up being too good for it's own good. Bama's defense will be nasty, but they're also breaking in a new QB. Yea I know blah blah McElroy blah blah, but

                        A) he had a nice amount of game experience the year before he became starter
                        B) in his first 5 games he didn't have to go to Penn State, play a team the quality level that Arkansas will be this year (I think they're going to be good), and then follow that game with a trip to the swamp

Bama drops one of their first 5.

I see the LSU-Oregon opener as an absolute toss up. But even if LSU wins, they have a hell of a schedule, and I won't be sold on Jefferson until he proves me wrong. They drop at least 2 regular season games, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Bama wasn't one of those games.

Even should Bama or LSU get to the SECCG with only one loss, they'd still have to beat South Carolina.

OU is pretty much a lock.

What I want to happen: OU vs Bama

What I think will happen: Oregon loses to LSU and then runs the table, every SEC team finishes with 2 losses, OU crushes Oregon.

What I don't want to happen: OU vs LSU, because I just wouldn't be able to resist going, albeit I would be walking right into a hornets nest. Man you should hear some of the stories from the '03 Sugar Bowl. The people down there are trash.

While I think OU is a really good team and a strong contender for the NC I think you have to wait until they play the games before you can say the hype is legit. I also wouldn't call them a lock with a 0-0 record.

Well, in case you guys didn't catch on, I'm an OU fan. And I follow them closer than any healthy human being should ever follow a football team. Saying they're a lock was just hyperbole as obviously nothings a lock, but I'm still confident in saying it. The experience is there. The talent is there. And the schedule sets up pretty nice.
