My prediction is Oklahoma (due in large part to their schedule) and someone not in the SEC. I just feel like this is the year the streak ends. I'm thinking Wisconsin or Oregon.

Oh and Joe Strange is pretty spot on. Not everyone in NO in trash but, a large majority of them are. You certainly won't catch me there after night fall.

          Re: BCS Champ Prediction

Alabama and Oklahoma(due to a weak schedule(compared to Bama) and being really good, on paper).

Bama has their whole D back pretty much, a great O-line, a great RB, and will find a good game manager at QB. That's all Saban needs. I think Maze will do well at WR and keep an eye on the Carter kid that transferred from OSU. Don't ask me why but I have a hunch he will be a good player for Bama this year. That said, run, run, run, that's what you will see with Bama this year. The schedule is tough as always but getting Arkansas and LSU at home is huge. They do have to play @Penn State, @FL, @Miss State and @Auburn. I think Penn State will be closer than people think, they will roll FL again, Miss State will be a tough one an the always wild card of a rivalry game makes Auburn tough to predict, although after last year you have to figure Bama's gonna be out for blood and Auburn returns just 6 total starters from last year's title team.

Oklahoma has a high powered offensive attack with Jones and Broyles leading it. Not having to play Nebraska once or twice this year helps as well. Their season pretty much comes down to 3 games, Texas, @FSU and @Ok State. I'm not as high on Texas A&M as some are. I think the FSU game could trip them up but if they escape that(and it will be a battle) they could easily roll to an undefeated season.

I like Bama over OK though due to Bama's great defense. Nothing has changed since FL beat OK's great offense a few years back...a great D will usually trump a great O in most cases. And Oklahoma will have trouble stopping Bama's rushing attack as well.

Good sound logic. Base a completely new team (you're only allowed to stay in college for 4 years) on what a team in the past did. They're loaded beyond all belief this year. More so than any years past. The hype is legit.

This I can agree with. Well, the first part anyway. Here's why:

The west will once again without a doubt the best division in the country, but I think it's gonna wind up being too good for it's own good. Bama's defense will be nasty, but they're also breaking in a new QB. Yea I know blah blah McElroy blah blah, but

            A) he had a nice amount of game experience the year before he became starter
            B) in his first 5 games he didn't have to go to Penn State, play a team the quality level that Arkansas will be this year (I think they're going to be good), and then follow that game with a trip to the swamp

Bama drops one of their first 5.

I see the LSU-Oregon opener as an absolute toss up. But even if LSU wins, they have a hell of a schedule, and I won't be sold on Jefferson until he proves me wrong. They drop at least 2 regular season games, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Bama wasn't one of those games.

Even should Bama or LSU get to the SECCG with only one loss, they'd still have to beat South Carolina.

OU is pretty much a lock.

What I want to happen: OU vs Bama

What I think will happen: Oregon loses to LSU and then runs the table, every SEC team finishes with 2 losses, OU crushes Oregon.

What I don't want to happen: OU vs LSU, because I just wouldn't be able to resist going, albeit I would be walking right into a hornets nest. Man you should hear some of the stories from the '03 Sugar Bowl. The people down there are trash.
I'm from down there and must say you're wrong. I'm gonna take the high road and leave it at that.

            OU vs. Alabama

I'm still not confident in the QB situation at LSU so I think they'll finish with at least 2 losses. Also possible that Stanford or FSU sneaks in there.

do you guys see why I despise pre-season prediction thread so much? And why I never make any predictions/or rankings.

let it play out, I promise it is more fun that way. And it pisses off less people.

But I will say this- LOL at the OU fan who is calling us trash. He who is without sin...

I've been to LSU games and I've been to OU games, I've had much worse experiences with OU fans. You seriously have zero room to talk.

Drunk fans do stupid things regardless of what team they are a fan of. Last time I went to an OU game an OU fan threw a beer bottle at a girl and then proceeded to punch an OSU fans teeth out for no reason, the time before that the OU fan next to me would not stop his constant cursing despite the 5 year old kids sitting right next to him. OU fans cannot call any fanbase trash.

To be fair to him. LSU fans behavior is legendary around college football. Has been for a long time. Two words for you. Piss bomb.

What you described is pretty minor compared to some of the 2003 stories I have heard.

But you are correct, drunken fans are morons. One reason I just don't go to as many games as I do, and why I at this point just get premiums seats.. It seems people are less reluctant to pay that kind of money on a game if they are going to be too wasted to remember it. Or it could just be a completely different clientele.

It's another reason why I sell my season tickets to the Chargers every year, and only attend 1 or 2 games. I am too old to have the patience to deal with drunken idiots.

I think they are just the popular choice right now.

When you look around the country, there are only 3-5 teams that stand out as preseason favorites and Alabama is one of those teams.

Last year, Herbstreit was the only guy, outside of homer AU fans, who was predicting Auburn to do anything and you see what happened there..

Anything can happen.. Watson's take is the best here.. we won't know 'til it happens.

This. I've been to an OSU - OU game and an LSU - Auburn game recently and I Can easily say the southerners show more hospitality than eaither of the fans from the state of Oklahoma.

Not really. That's why it's called a "prediction". I mean, how interesting would this thread be if that were everyone's take?

For me, it's fun to make predictions just to see how close you were to being correct at the end of the season.

Or for a darkhorse, Oregon/Stanford vs SEC champ. True I hate the fact that the SEC is so dominant. But the safest pick is an SEC team at least in the NCG. I would put money on it today.
