Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows

Listening to former BE Commish Mike Trained Geese on Francesa and it's hysterical.

Apparently the ACC are scoundrels since this is the second time this has happened raiding the Big East.

Also he believes Pitt and Cuse add nothing to the ACC Football wise.

Also seem that he cares more about basketball than anything.

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows

Just a thought on the whole ACC teams being off the table because of the new $20 mill buyout. If you were FSU or maybe Va. Tech (the only two I think may be courted by the SEC) and you know that the other schools are going to vote for the raising of the Exit fees, but you are still on the fence.
Do you vote against it, knowing that it will most likely pass and you will be showing your hand and exposing your waivering commitment?
Or do you vote with the majority, figuring that if you do leave it will be for a deal that will outway the new exit fee, and if you stay your conference mates won't doubt you moving forward?
I think unless you know that there are enough votes to stop the exit fee raise then you have to vote for it with everyone else, and because of that I think that some ACC teams could still be on the table.
I'm saying "could be" not "they are", so don't start slamming me for saying FSU & Va. Tech are leaving. I'm not saying that. I'm just saying, I'm not convincd that the ACC teams are completely off the table at this point.

I'm surprised at how well Wyoming does (According to that article).

Well, if you have an NFL type schedule and Pod "A" plays every team in Pod "B," then the best out of those two pods would be the best representative in the Conference Championship because it played every team in both "A" and "B"

Amazing that 20% of NYC is Rutgers. I never would have guessed it was that skewed, I would have guessed Notre Dame was #1 by a long shot.

I'm skeptical about the author's methodology. To cite an example near and dear to my heart, he contends that the University of Houston (with approx 250,000 alums) has significantly fewer fans than either Rice or Tulane (maybe 50,000 alums apiece). That would seem to fly in the face of both common sense and actual attendance figures for last season:

                      CUSA Football Attendance 2010

CUSA Leaders in Football Attendance for 2010

                      1. ECU 49,665
                      2. UCF 39, 614
                      3. Houston 31,726
                      4. Southern Miss 29,400
                      5. UTEP 29,350
                      6. Marshall 27,046
                      7. Rice 25,571
                      8. Memphis 23,918
                      9. SMU 23,515
                      10. Tulane 23,220*
                      11. Tulsa 20,379
                      12. UAB 18,360

                      * Tulane's figures should be taken with a grain of salt, it's my understanding that they include their entire student body and faculty when calculating attendance because they receive free tickets. Anyone who has attended a TU home game in recent years will testify to the fact that most of those folks must be coming to the games disguised as empty seats.

Dont mind The Gaming Chef everything Iowa State related he likes to make it seem like they are bigger and more important than they really are. In reality no one really cares about Iowa St, no BCS schools want them if the big 12 were to split, they are not desired by anyone and ISU-Nebraska a rivalry? Do Nebraska fans even count that as a rivalry? I bet cornhusker fans just look at it like a cupcake conference game. LOL.

People around here with very, very inside info on the situation as far as OU is concerned says that OU has an offer from the SEC but the 1st choice for OU is Pac-12 and it's a 99.9% done deal.

Multiple Big 12 sources told ESPN.com that the Big 12 would be the home, not the Big East, in any possible merger of the two football conferences.

Yep, that's what I was thinking. Think of the two pods that play each other as a division for the year.

So year one: Pod A&B best vs Pod C&D best
Year 2: Pod A&C best vs Pod B&D best
And so on. You would possibly get a lot of interesting championships each year that way as well.
