Because then the BCS conferences and the laughable Easterly 12 wouldn't get their free pass to cash.

LOL, Kentucky Sports Radio just apparently reported that Missouri, West Virginia, and Notre Dame are headed to the SEC.

Good point....and I have no idea why I tried to apply any logic to college football. I should know better at this point.

Hoping Mizzou gets in the SEC and they eventually go to 16. As a Hog fan, loving the idea of a pod of 4 teams with Arkansas, TAMU, Mizzou, and LSU.

I hope the SEC stays as divisions. Pods just doesn't make sense, though schedules will change period I guess.

Yeah, after thinking about it, it would be tough to decide who gets in the SEC Champ. game if they go to 4 pods. Unless the go to a 4 team playoff which is highly unlikely. Still would love to see it happen. Being a long time Razorback fan I don't really care about changing schedules and losing yearly rivals. Been through it before about 20 years ago with the jump to the SEC. You just develop new ones.

I've been through that fight before on this thread and believe me, even though the SEC is expanding into a modern market, everybody on here wants to play the same eight teams year in and year out. Apparently, it would sink the conference if they had tighter divisions, more local rivalries, and competition against the best teams in the conference.

I think WVU will get in the SEC eventually.

Ladies and gentlemen, iconic cfb brands Texas and OU have just quibbled their way out of an invite to the richest league in the country.
Could the Big 12 survive, after all? Will Missouri remain in the conference?

UConn President Susan Herbst said no formal application has been filed with any conference, and the school has not ruled out staying in a reconstituted Big East. But she said she's receiving inquiries from across the country as the school considers which conference might make the best fit.
Could be a smoke screen of course.

dont look at the pods as divisions, just as a way to schedule the teams. they could just use pods as a way to schedule behind the scenes without it ever being something official for standings. the idea of pods is what a lot of fans would have trouble wrapping their heads around, myself included, but its the best way to do it if your no.1 priority is cycling through the entire conference as quick as possible.

having said all that, i dont hold a position either way. id rather have the conference stick with (if we get a viable 14th team) 14 teams assuming no acc teams jump.

West Virginia may not really be out of the SEC yet-remember the legal ramifications. West Virginia needs to tell the Big East they are leaving first. Then the SEC would probably take them I would think. Remember when Texas A&M at first was told the SEC was happy at 12. They're probably just being careful about the lawyers-don't want someone going Ken Starr outta the Big East any causing them problems. As for the ACC, West Virginia academics wouldn't fly there, I would've been stunned if that was ever going to happen.
