Ok, so where are we right now?
aTm and Mizzou to the SEC.
ACC has added Pitt and Syracuse.
OU and UT messed up their Pac 12 deal. The move of Mizzou really puts the Big 12 in doubt, but as long as OU and UT stay together then there will be some version of it. However, Texas might need to make some serious concessions to OU.
And nobody likes West Virginia.Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
I read a rumor about WVU and Florida State as a packaged deal as #15 and #16 to the SEC after Missouri. Just a rumor and it's doubtful that it is true, but I am grasping at straws at this point.Comment

Andy Katz reporting that the PAC-12 will not expandComment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Andy Katz on ESPN just reported that Pac 12 has decided not to expand. They are happy at 12, and all along, there were reports that Scott may have trouble getting the votes to expand anyway, so the Pac 12 is staying at 12.
This comes on the heels of Oklahoma's demands. However, now they have no leverage. Texas doesn't have to concede on replacing Beebe or more restrictions on the Longhorn Network. Oklahoma did all of this in a play to get some control of the conference away from Texas, and with the Pac 12 announcing they wouldn't expand, that kills Oklahoma's leverage here.
So I think the Big 12 stays together. Maybe Missouri still goes, and they have to add BYU and at least one other school.
The remaining Big East football schools all had a meeting in NYC today, and all of them pledged to make the conference work. They want to add the service academies (all three of them) to get to 10, and then ECU and UCF are backup plans.
So overall, Texas and Oklahoma are staying put. Missouri, West Virginia, Rutgers, or UConn could still move. TCU in the very off chance they are invited to the Big 12 (though I don't see that happening). The ACC may move to 16 still, but they'll be the only ones. I don't think the SEC is going to, we know the Pac isn't going to, The B1G won't add anyone unless it gets them the Irish, and the Big East and Big 12 are in no position to go to 16.Last edited by DonkeyJote; 09-20-2011, 11:18 PM.Comment

Could this be the stabilizing force that convinces the remaining Big 12 teams that their current conference can work?Ryan Spencer

1. Go to 14 with Mizzou as what appears to be first to be invited.
2. Go to 16 and add The Oklahoma Schools and Mizzou (a real possibility) with Auburn and Alabama moving to the East Division.
Regardless, the moving parts suggest Mizzou is the next potential SEC member as of today.AUBURN TIGERS

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Well, A&M is obviously SEC bound, and the SEC isn't going to stop at 13 so the two most feasible routes for the SEC to get to an even number.
1. Go to 14 with Mizzou as what appears to be first to be invited.
2. Go to 16 and add The Oklahoma Schools and Mizzou (a real possibility) with Auburn and Alabama moving to the East Division.
