Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows

Now or never for the Big East if they plan on surviving football wise. Maybe the SEC/Big XII grabs L-Ville or WVU, but for now Big East makes these additions:

    ECU
    UCF
    Navy
    Army
    Temple
    Villinova or UMass

    Go North/South or Patriot/American divisions.

    UConn
    Rutgers
    Navy
    Army
    Temple
    Nova
    ________

    Cincy
    USF
    UCF
    ECU
    WVU
    Louisville

Then pray UConn, WVU, Cincy and L-Ville all stay.

ECU and UCF make too much sense thus won't occur.

      What will happen is Nova/UMass/Richmond

UMass? They are just transitioning to FBS next year. I doubt the Big East invites them when they could invite Villanova, who has a much better program and is already associated with the Big East. Half the added schools on that list won't be in the Big East let alone invited probably. Big East has a hard on for Air Force rather than Army for some reason. Supposedly ECU already applied and never heard a thing more after that. Is UMass the new rumor going round or something?

You mean Villanova who has a 12k stadium, and who LOOKS PATHETIC THIS YEAR?

Yea, it seems at this rate they'll just let the conference be picked apart and start over with C-USA, MAC and D-1AA schools because no one is taking charge to prevent all this.

Thinking about it a little more, I don't see Army/Navy joining a league to be honest.. And imo, WVU is a better fit in the B1G than the SEC if they are hell bent on moving. As far as #14 for the SEC, I think they will wait on a big player - Florida St. or VT - the $20 million buyout is steep though.

Other possibles for the Big East would be Southern Miss, Marshall, Houston and SMU.

B1G is sitting pretty at 12 with the most options - Mizzou begging, KU/ISU, the remaining East Coast teams, Maryland/Virginia (although the buyout hurts those chances), WVU based on geography and Notre Dame (who knows).

Also, lots of people are forgetting the MWC - what if they pick up SMU, Houston & Tulsa? Maybe they get the AQ bid because that conference would be deep.

              Dominoes.

Texas Christian is screwed. They may have a seat at the table, but it's hard to eat when the gluttons are sitting right next to you. It should be an interesting baseball conference though...

I was just suggesting it as a possibility. Since they're going to the FBS level, why not skip the MAC for a better fit in the Big East where they're dying for members.

UMass would accept if invited, but I just don't see them getting an invitation.

And to the other poster, Villanova's stadium size has nothing to do with it, or did you forget that Nova was nearly brought into the Big East for football earlier this year and Nova wanted to wait.

I hope that all of the Big East teams find a new home and that the Big East just becomes a non-football conference. Perhaps they could invite some A-10 schools into the conference and still be a very powerful basketball conference.

                        LMFAO

Try again, RU, PITT, WVU, and UL ALL VOTED AGAINST NOVA MOVING UP.

Plus their stadium is not big enough for the required allotment in order to be a 1A school.

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows

Nova's football stadium is a huge problem. They had an invite to move up and join-so did Providence, Georgetown, Seton Hall, etc. All the non-football schools were invited to move up if they wanted. Nova was just the only one who gave it serious thought. They can't move up with that football stadium. They probably need to share the Eagles stadium with Temple. No one can compete in any 1-A conference with that stadium. It was probably a requirement of moving up. Nova probably is not committed enough to do all the things necessary to move up into a major conference. UMass is using the Patriots stadium-they could do it.

Surprised TCU is invited so fast after the Big 12 commish said there was little support for a Texas school moving up. They must be getting desperate and felt the need to hurry up and invite someone fast. BYU is the only other team that could get into the conference by next season.

If the ACC would take UConn and Rutgers, then the Big 12 and Big East could just merge in football and form a solid conference. It would be better for them than both raiding CUSA to patch a conference together.

BC is blocking UConn, they want the New England market all for themselves.

It's still 75% to get in right? Do the other schools care if Boston College loses out on a little bit of the Connecticut market? If they do, then Rutgers and South Florida are good additions. The Academic standard of the ACC may just keep them where they're at. I don't know much about South Florida academics. Either way, the Big 12-Big East merger should be back on the table and being given serious thought.

USF has next to no standards when it comes to academia.
