Exactly my reaction when I saw it on that bottom ticker thing on ESPN. I had to look it up to make sure it wasn't a hoax or something. I found a few websites talking about it, but not too many.

I'm actually wondering if the Big East would take SDSU.

Probably the same crew that were "chuckling" at those of us who said this was all going to happen.

The chuckling has been absent lately it seems.

It's supposedly voided if the conference goes under 10, and maybe needs to be re-negotiated. Next, they all need to add an OOC game. Not many options left-could get 1-AA heavy. On a positive note, Texas could call up Texas A&M and tell them they have an opening now...

How long can the SEC wait to know for sure that Missouri can be in there next year? I thought I remembered the Big 12 interim commish essentially say a few weeks ago that it's too late for Missouri to leave before next year, though he phrased it something like 'the big 12 is preparing for a 10-team league next year.' SEC might need to have a 13 and 14 team schedule ready. It's kind of late to be deciding this, July 1st is generally the date, that's actually under 8 months from now. More notice is generally needed. If West Virginia can sue their way into the Big 12 next year, no problem for the Big 12, they can stick with 10 without too much problem. The Big East would potentially be down to 5 already next year because that can of worms for Pitt and Syracuse to get out would be open if they wanted it, and that's a mess.
There is no wait. Mizzou is in. It's done.

Seems like even the "ignore geography" people are scratching their heads now.
            NFL: Indianapolis Colts (12-6)
            NBA: Indiana Pacers (42-13)
            MLB: Cincinnati Reds (0-0)

I'll believe it when the Big 12 says they can leave for 2012. This is the statement from the interim Big 12 commish I was referring to.

"If Missouri was going to change horses, it wouldn't be for 2012 anyway"

That was over a month ago. I don't think the Big 12 is going to just give up on them without assurance West Virginia can be in by next year. It causes a lot of problems for the Big 12-namely the TV contract can be voided if the membership drops below 10.

The Big 12 announced West Virginia as coming in 2012, the Big East announced West Virginia as leaving for 2014. So, I don't quite believe it yet until I see the Big 12 says they're gone. If they're sure West Virginia can escape for next year, then Missouri can go right away, but if their TV contract is in danger, and Missouri missed the deadline, I could see the Big 12 fighting it like the Big East is fighting West Virginia.

Mike Slive said a few weeks ago that the SEC already has a 13 and 14 game schedule drawn up, so they can go either way. The weird thing is you will have games that count as a conference game for one team and not for the other in a 13 team schedule.

You can avoid having games count for one team and not the other, but you can't avoid that not everyone in the 7 team division would be able to play everyone else in their division. That causes a huge problem.

Once the SEC gets to 14, next year or the year after, are they going to 9 conference games? With 6 division games, and one permanent cross-over, 8 games only allows you to play 1 of the other 6 each year. If you did a home and home with each team, you're talking about playing the other 6 only twice every 12 years.

Missouri makes move to SEC official

Missouri's move to the SEC for the 2012-13 academic year has been completed, ushering in a new era of 14 teams for the conference, which announced the move in a statement Sunday morning.

It sure stretches the meaning of "conference", which is why I hate the idea of superconferences.

teams that are always on the line when it comes to bowl eligibility will not want more conference games.

Yeah, sounds like 9 is not happening. Hard to imagine how rare some of the matchups are going to be. Unless they just rotate the one school every year without doing a home and home, someone who goes to Texas A&M starting next year for example would probably never see 4 different schools in the other division-Missouri will be permanent, then just hypothetically, they do a home and home with Tennessee, then Vanderbilt. No Kentucky, Georgia, Florida or South Carolina at any point in your career unless you play one of them in the SEC CG. Just weird.

SDSU is trying to look out for themselves in a conference that is quickly turning into WAC 2.0 (except worse). I doubt the Big East takes them.

Oh well, they might as well stay, try to get better and more consistent in football, and try to become the cream of the crap in what will most likely be known on FBS-Who Cares.

I'll take SDSU's Basketball team in the Big East. Though that is going to be a beast of an away game for the east teams in the league.

WVU reportedly can't even spurn a conference right.
